ECHS Parking Permit Application 2017-2018 The Effingham County Board of Education policy requires the following to secure a permit to park a vehicle on school property: 1. have a parent signature on all three pages of this application, if you are under 18 years of age 2. bring current copies of the following documents of the vehicle that will be driven by the student (expired documents will not be accepted): o Vehicle Registration OR Temporary Tag Application if vehicle is new o Proof of Insurance Card for vehicle you will be driving on school campus o Georgia Driver s License 3. pay $25.00 by cash or a check made payable to: ECHS 4. meet EC BOE Attendance Policy and Eligibility Requirements. Effingham County High School 2017 2018 Parking Rules IMPORTANT REMINDER: It is your responsibility to bring in an updated copy to ECHS, should any of the vehicle information/documents expire or change during the 2017-2018 academic year. NOTE TO PARENTS: The intent for these rules is not to punish your child, but to keep the parking lot safe for all individuals. The students must be patient and courteous to others when leaving the lot. We have read and understand the above rules for parking on the ECHS campus. We agree to follow all rules and understand that parking privileges may be revoked by any administrator for violation of these or any other school policies and procedures. If a student loses his/her parking privileges, all school property and the area next to the high are off-limits (by order of the Sheriff s Department). If a student parks illegally, his/her vehicle will be towed at the owner s expense. Effingham County High School 2017 2018 Parking Rules It is required that both the parent and student read and understand the following parking rules. 1. I understand that all policies and procedures outlined in the ECHS Student Handbook must be followed. I understand that parking on the ECHS campus is a privilege and may be revoked at any time. I understand that, should my permit be revoked, I will NOT receive a refund. 2. I agree to pay the $25 fee for a parking permit. Should I require a replacement sticker (same or new vehicle), I agree to pay a fee of $10. If I drive a different vehicle (unregistered with school), I agree to report this information to the front office immediately to receive a 1-day permit ($1.00). 3. I understand that if I lose my eligibility to drive on campus for the nine-weeks, I must purchase a new sticker for $10.00. Please keep this page for your records 4. I understand that all cars must face the highway. Turn to the right and exit to the left on the road by the fence. 5. I understand that I must display a parking sticker on the LOWER LEFT corner of the windshield. Sticker must be visible from outside the vehicle. All old parking stickers must be removed. 6. I understand that upon arrival I must exit the vehicle immediately and enter the school building. I also understand that when school is out, I must exit the building and leave the parking lot immediately. 7. I understand that my parking permit is for my use only and may not be transferred to another person for any reason. I agree not to use another student s parking permit to display in my own vehicle. I understand that doing so will result in the revocation of parking privileges for both me and the other student. 8. I understand that I must meet each of the following criteria in order to avoid losing my parking permit privileges. Students must earn a final nine weeks grade of 70 or above in 5 of the 7 classes in which he/she was enrolled. Students may not have five or more absences in any class (excused or unexcused) in which he/she was enrolled during the immediately preceding 9-week period. Students receiving a 5 th tardy to school during a 9-week period will lose their driving privilege for 1-week. Students may not have more than four discipline referrals within the immediately preceding 9-weeks. Students disciplinary consequences may not have resulted in five or more days of In School Suspension/Out of School Suspension during the immediately preceding semester. 9. I understand that ECHS is not responsible for damage to my vehicle or for stolen items from private vehicles parked on school grounds. 10. I understand that I am not to leave campus for lunch or sit in a vehicle upon arrival to school or during lunch. 11. I understand that I may not go to my vehicle and/or leave campus without permission from an administrator or office personnel. I understand that if I fail to obtain permission to leave the building and/or school grounds (skipping), my parking permit will be revoked for 2 weeks. I also agree to not take other students off campus without permission from parents AND school personnel (student parking permit will be revoked an additional 2-weeks). 12. I understand that vehicles parked on school grounds are subject to random searches by school administrators and law enforcement officers at the request of school administration. 13. I understand that I am solely responsible for ALL contents of my car or the car that I am driving when it is on school grounds. I agree that lack of knowledge is not a reason or excuse for any unacceptable or illegal items to be in the vehicle. 14. I agree to avoid driving in a reckless manner. I agree to operate my vehicle responsibility and to avoid causing damage to public and private property located on school grounds and to avoid endangering the life or limb of persons utilizing school facilities. I understand that this includes driving recklessly around buses in route to and from school or school functions. 15. Per board policy, any student caught with or under the influence of drugs on or off campus can lose their permit for one calendar year. I understand that if I am caught with alcohol and/or drugs on myself or in my car, parking privileges may be revoked. This applies to being in possession of and/or consuming alcohol/drugs at school-related events as well. Students wishing to park on campus must have a parking permit by August 10, 2017. A $25.00 ticket will be given for violators. Habitual violators are subject to towing at the owner s expense. The speed limit on campus is 5 miles per hour. The traffic coming into the lot in the morning is one way and the traffic exiting the lot in the afternoon is one way. Students who stay after school for extracurricular activities are to leave their vehicles in the student parking lot. The center lane of traffic has the right of way over the lanes coming from the parking areas. Students are not allowed to park in the Faculty Lot or Front Circle Lot (this area is strictly for parent pickup and drop-off). All students must use the student parking gate for entry and exit. To protect the safety of ECHS students and ensure the orderly flow of traffic in the parking lot, ECHS expects all drivers to adhere to certain rules and procedures. If you commit any one of the infractions, you will be given a $25.00 ticket and may have your parking sticker suspended or revoked.* Parked in wrong spot Permit not properly displayed Parked out of zone No permit Occupying two spots Reckless driving (including excessive speed, driving across parking spots, carelessness around pedestrians) Improperly merging across driving lanes

*Some infractions may be deemed serious enough to warrant immediate fine or suspension/revocation of parking privileges.

Student Drug Testing Consent Form This is to certify that agrees to participate (Print Student s Full Legal Name) in the Student Drug Testing Program as outlined in the Effingham County Board of Education Student Drug Testing Policy. (issued 6/06) My child and I have received the Student / Parent Handbook and have read and understand this policy. We understand that any high school student interested in taking part in a schoolsponsored extracurricular activity, including parking a vehicle on school property, within the Effingham County School System must agree to participate in a drug-testing program that includes random drug testing during the school year. We are also aware that we can review the entire Student Drug Testing Policy at any time online at www.effinghamschools.com. We understand that students will not be allowed to participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities, including parking a vehicle on school property, if this consent form is not signed and returned to the school to be kept on file during the current school year. (Consent forms must be renewed annually.) We also understand and agree that students who are 18 years old or will turn 18 years old during the school year hereby give permission to release all test results to his or her parent or legal guardian.
