RENEW YOUR BLUE MAX & AMA MEMBERSHIPS!! AMA CHARTER 1040 GOLD LEADERSHIP CLUB PROPWASH & BACKBLAST by Mike Melendy Finally the siege of winter has lifted!! The field is in surprisingly good shape after a harsh winter. I am working on acquiring split rails and vertical posts for the fence extension and repair. Hopefully it will be completed by May. We still need clean fill for leveling and grading areas around the runway. Some crash barrier netting was repaired, but more work and replacement is needed. (field marshals take note!). Some of our snowbirds are drifting in and are mostly welcomed back. Fuel orders need to be placed and paid for at or before the meeting. Snooze, you lose!! May will begin our fun-flys, with a new director. Be kind and helpful, lest you acquire the job!! This month s raffle will be a powered glider ARF from Hanger 9. Don't forget the food pantry and see you at the meeting. ~ Mike President Mike Melendy Vice President Howard Bifeld Editor Lynne Walters Board of Directors Steve Haas Shlomo Rimer Bradford Walters Gene Zerega Secretary Murry Randell Treasurer Bob Wisinski Webmaster Doug Bradbury COMMITTEES Banquet Ray Laning Field Marshal John Haderly Jim Kaufman Flying Proficiency Steve Haas Fun-Fly Ray Laning Ground Crew Gene Zerega Matt Hauser Noise Shlomo Rimer Picnic Carl Will/Gene Derbick Programs OPEN Safety Don Linder/Rich Blaha

April 2014 Volume 21 Issue 4 Page 8 Editor s Page By Lynne Walters THE ANSWER TO MARCH S NAME THAT PLANE The name of the plane is the Banhidy Gerle. Bob Wisinski was the first person to guess it correctly and will get a free raffle ticket at the April meeting. Michael Corbitt & Bill Grove also guessed correctly. The designer/pilot in 1933 achieved fame by flying this aircraft, powered by a 100 hp Siddeley Genet Major engine, 1025 miles non-stop on the last leg of a long distance flight. APRIL S NAME THAT PLANE This aircraft was designed and developed by an American company as a light to medium low level attack bomber, but never used in combat by the United States. It was used by the RAF, the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, and the South African Air Force. Send all responses to Bradford Walters at Bradford@thehoverzone.com. Diana & Ron with her new SIG 4-Star ARF. They were just finishing it up when Brad and I were visiting them. Wish we could have seen them flying it. Next year!
