Quality System ISO9001 Certified Environmental Management Systems ISO14001 Certified Tranquilizer Surge Suppression for Air-Driven Diaphragm Pumps Virtually surge-free flows Steadier pressures Less vibration and noise Simple installation Variety of sizes and materials Automatically self-charging and self-venting An air cushion is established by liquid pressure pushing the diaphragm upward. This allows air to enter the chamber. The balancing air cushion keeps the diaphragm centered at mid stroke. During operation, the diaphragm(s) flex within the mid-range position, absorbing and equalizing discharge surge. If pressure changes in the system, the air cushion pressure compensates, automatically increasing or decreasing. If liquid pressure is released, air in the suppressor chamber exhausts into the atmosphere. Properly sized and installed, Tranquilizer provides virtually surge-free discharge flow. Though the more common top-ported pump is shown here, this recommendation also applies to bottom, side and dual-ported diaphragm The compressed air supply line to the surge suppressor should connect before a filter/ regulator unit limited to inlet air of 125 PSI. Flexible connections are strongly recommended. Items shown in blue are available from your local Warren Rupp Distributor. Surge Suppressor Limited to 125 PSI CAUTION The air exhaust should be piped to an area for safe disposition of the product being pumped, in the event of a diaphragm failure. Quality System ISO9001 Certified Environmental Management System ISO14001 Certified Model DA05, DA07 & DA10 Metallic and Non-Metallic Surge Dampeners Use with SANDPIPER Models S05, S07, S10 and Marathon Models M05, M07, M10 pumps WITHOUT DAMPENER WITH DAMPENER Provides nearly surge-free flows. Maintains steadier pressures. Minimizes shocks in piping. Air-operated diaphragm pumps offer a wide range of benefits not available in any other type of pump. However, in some applications, pulsations in the discharge flow may be undesirable. Pulsation can be virtually eliminated by installing a Warren Rupp Surge Dampener. Designed specifically for use with the ½" and ¾" pumps, these units can provide nearly surge-free flow. Here s how it works: The Surge Dampener is manually charged with air. Once this is done, the unit s diaphragm will stroke at the same rate as the pump. This movement effectively dampens flow and pressure fluctuations. No air is consumed by the Dampener, once it is charged. PUMP CYCLING RATE Virgin PTFE diaphragms are standard. Wetted parts in polypropylene, PVDF and nylon. Minimal diaphragm movement results in long service life. Non-wetted parts are polypropylene and stainless steel. Small and modular in design, to fit the tightest installations. (See back for dimensions.) Maximum operating pressure is 100 psi (7 bar).
