Installation Instructions: 1. Make sure that the mower is parked on level ground. 2. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key. 3. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged. 4. Remove all the deck covers from the deck assemblies and lift the operator seat. 5. Remove the mule drive and deck drive belts from the mower. NOTE: To remove the mule drive belt, open the hood and uninstall the clutch stop capture weldment from the rear frame. Disconnect the clutch wires and remove the mule drive belt from the unit. 6. Remove the existing double sheave from the deck #3. Use the provided center spindle update kit and instruction sheet IS-0387 to replace the existing parts in the spindle assembly. Install the provided double sheave to the deck #3 as shown below. IMPORTANT (072710 Update Kit Only): Install the provided Cast Pulley Spacer (072721) to the spindle underneath the double sheave to raise the pulley. Also, replace the existing double sheave key with the provided 1/4 Square x 1-1/2 Long Key (028080). 7. Uninstall the idler pulley from the deck #3. Install the provided belt keeper weldment and reinstall the idler pulley and the existing components to the deck #3 as shown below. 8. Remove the drive idler assembly from the deck #3. Install the provided hardware to the drive idler and reinstall the idler to the deck #3 as shown below. NOTE: Do not tighten the belt keeper on the idler until the deck drive belt is installed to the idler assembly. Keeper, Deck Idler Belt (072680) 120_106-2C Page 7 of 10
9. Remove the deck drive C-belt idler assembly from the drive unit. 10. Reassemble the idler assembly using the provided drive idler weldment and mule drive tensioner assembly using the existing and provided hardware as shown below. Secure the drive idler weldment to the idler assembly with the provided ¾ washers and ¾-10 swaged nut. 11. Reinstall the deck drive C-belt idler assembly to the drive unit. NOTE: Do not install the spring to the spring hook to tension the idler assembly until the provided mule drive belt is installed to the clutch and the spindle pulley on the deck #3. Idler Assembly 120_107-1D Page 9 of 10
12. Install the provided deck drive belt to the deck assembly. Tighten the pulley bolts to secure the belt keepers and pulleys in place. 13. Install the provided mule drive belt to the spindle pulley on the deck #3. 120_108 14. Install the mule drive belt to the clutch and reinstall the clutch stop capture weldment to the rear frame. Reconnect the clutch wires. 15. Install the extension spring on the deck drive C-belt idler assembly to the spring hook to tension the mule drive belt as necessary. NOTE: Insert the ratchet in the ratchet hole located in the drive idler weldment to install/uninstall the extension spring. 16. Reinstall the deck covers to the deck and lower the operator seat. 17.
