Actuators for small valves with 5.5 mm nominal stroke 4 891 SSB31... SSB81... 80130 80117 SSB... without auxiliary switch SSB...1 with auxiliary switch Electro-mechanical actuators for valve types VMP45..., VVP45... and VXP45... Nominal stroke 5.5 mm Automatic stroke recognition 3-position or DC 0 10 V control signal AC 24 V or AC 230 V operating voltage Direct assembly with union nut (no tools required) Can be operated manually Optional auxiliary switch AC 250 V / 1(0.5) A, with adjustable switching point 0...100 % Plug-in cable for supply voltage and control signal Parallel connection of multiple actuators possible With position indicator Use For use in fan-coil systems, induction units and chilled-ceiling systems, to operate heating or cooling valves. Functions The DC 0...10 V control signal or the 3-position control voltage generates a stroke in the actuator which is transmitted to the valve stem. SSB31... / SSB81... (3-position control) (DC 0...10 V control signal) Voltage at Y1: Valve opens Voltage at Y2: Valve closes No voltage at Y1 and Y2: Valve remains in current position. The valve opens in proportion to the voltage at Y. At 0 V, the valve is closed. Type summary Auxiliary switches The basic types are supplied with a 1.5 metre cable. Actuators may also be ordered without a cable (type codes ending in.../00). A long connecting cable (4.5 m, see Accessories ) can be ordered for these. The SSB31... and SSB81... actuators are also available with auxiliary switches. Actuator types SSB31.1... and SSB81.1... have a built-in auxiliary switch. The switch cannot be fitted later. Items are supplied individually packed (except SSB61U and SSB81U, see note below). Example 2 actuators without cables, type SSB81/00 and 2 connecting cables, type ASY8L45 Actuator types SSB61U and SSB81U are available only in packs of 10 (minimum order quantity). Features Plastic housing Stall-proof gear unit, no maintenance required Plug-in connecting cable, length 1.5 m Non-interchangeable AC 24 V and AC 230 V sockets Manual adjustment with 3 mm Allen key Reduced current consumption in stop positions Force-dependent switch-off in the event of overload, and in stroke end-positions. Up to 6 SSB31 or SSB81 or up to 10 SSB61 actuators may be operated in parallel. 80117 Engineering notes Mounting Note the admissible temperatures (see sections on Use and Technical data ). The connecting cable will not be damaged by contact with the valve body as long as the valve body temperature does not exceed 80 C. Mounting instructions are printed on the packing. Orientation 80129 Permissible NOT permissible Commissioning When commissioning, check the wiring and the functioning of the actuator and auxiliary switch, if fitted. Spindle extended (movement from Mark 0 to 1) valve opens. Spindle retracted (movement from Mark 1 to 0) valve closes. Caution The calibrates itself (calibration stroke) during commissioning. Correct functioning cannot be guaranteed if the SSB is operated without a valve. Operating The actuators can be driven manually to any position between 0 and 1 with a 3 mm Allen key. A control signal from the controller, however, will take priority over any manual position. Note To hold the actuator in the manually-set position, the connecting cable must be unplugged. Maintenance! When servicing the actuator note the following: Switch off the operating voltage. Where applicable, disconnect electrical connections from the terminals. The valve must be mounted in accordance with instructions before commissioning the actuator.
