EINE DI207 DIAFO02 DTC P2120 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D Circuit *: Only for sequential manual transmission vehicle. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTI The accelerator pedal position sensor is mounted on the throttle body and it has the 2 sensors to detects the accelerator position and a malfunction of the accelerator position sensor. The accelerator pedal position sensor, connected with the accelerator pedal by the accelerator wire and the voltage applied to the terminals and 2 of the ECM changes between and in proportion to the opening angle of the accelerator pedal. The ECM judges the current opening angle of the accelerator pedal from these signals input from terminals and 2 and, the ECM controls the throttle motor based on these signals. If this DTC is stored, the ECM shuts down the power for the throttle motor and the magnetic clutch, and the throttle valve is fully closed by the return spring. However, the opening angle of the throttle valve can be controlled by the accelerator pedal through the throttle cable. Read freeze frame data using the handheld tester or the OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, this is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the airfuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction. TOYOTA handheld tester: 1 Connect TOYOTA handheld tester, and read voltage for accelerator pedal position sensor data. (a) Connect the TOYOTA handheld tester to the DLC3. (b) Turn the ignition switch and push the TOYOTA hand held tester main switch. Read the voltage for the accelerator pedal position sensor data. : FI7052 Accelerator Pedal 2 Released 0.3 0.9 V 1.8 2.7 V Depressed 3.2 4.7 V 4.7 5.1 V 385
