FIVE STAR ENTRY FOR 2018 CONCOURS D ELEGANCE First ever car entry from Rwanda. First ever Buick Riviera with a seven litre engine. Record 34 entries from outside Kenya. Eight cars in the pre-1940 class. Good support for the new motorcycle class for bikes made before 1960. 2
This year s classiest event on the Kenya motor sport calendar has attracted an entry from Rwanda for the first time in the 48 year history of the event. Rwanda based Paul Bukuru will be driving his massive American muscle car from Kigali to be at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 18 th. This giant two door coupe made in 1968 was a great attraction at the recent Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto show (a Concours event) and will be a crowd puller in the Concours. The Concours has attracted a record 34 entries from outside Kenya consisting of 21 motorcycles and ten cars from Uganda, one car from Rwanda and two motorcycles from South Africa. Several of the cars from Uganda are rarities including the 1983 Nissan 240RS rally car of Bob Roberts and the Panther Kallista of Kakooza Wazzir. This is an example of a limited number of sports cars built by a small British manufacturer who is no longer in operation. The class for veteran, vintage and post vintage cars made up to December 31 st 1940 has the strongest field for several years of eight cars. The 1934 Ford Model A of Anwar Fatehdin will make a first appearance and Tor Frost s 1928 Fiat has not been seen at the Racecourse for many years. The same applies to the 1928 International entered by Team Jikoni s which is headed by champion rally navigator Ravi Soni. The newly introduced class for motorcycles made in 1960, or before has attracted four entries which is a good start to having a separate category for Golden Oldie bikes.
