In-Head Automatic Swing Door Operator DORMA ED 200i

Increasing benefits for users, architects and designers The DORMA ED 200i incorporates a neat design that not only allows the unit to offer the same benefits as a traditional swing door operator, but it also offers a much-improved aesthetic appearance. In the past architects may have had to compromise their ideal designs when adding surface applied door automation units. Although these units can be housed behind covers that can be coloured to match their surroundings, they still compromise on the overall aesthetics of the installation. The DORMA ED 200i provides an alternative. The DORMA ED 200i does not incorporate any bulky box units or swing arms, it has been designed to fit almost invisibly within the transom of the door, making it the ideal swing door operator where aesthetics are important. Therefore, the unit gives architects and designers increased freedom in design. The DORMA ED 200i Unit Housed in an aluminium casing, the DORMA ED 200i drive unit is just 150mm in height by 152mm deep, which forms part of the transom above either a single or pair of doors and becomes part of the framework surrounding the door. The DORMA ED 200i is self-supporting and, therefore, can be fixed between two walls or posts. The unit can be supplied for doors up to 1050mm for single and 2000mm for a pair of doors. Access to the unit for maintenance is simple, as the casing includes an integral cover that allows easy access to all mechanical and electrical parts. Breakout DORMA ED 200i offers an optional integral breakout facility, which ensures rapid, unhindered exit when it is needed most. In the case of an emergency the doors can be pushed manually in the opposite direction to the usual swing, suspending powered operation of the door. Since the breakout facility is mechanical, unhindered emergency exit is available from the unit regardless of whether there is power to the door, meaning that safety is not compromised at any time. In addition, DORMA ED 200i breakout facility incorporates a catch system which enables the doors to be easily reset after the swing doors have been broken out, allowing for correct and normal automatic operation to be resumed quickly and easily once the emergency has passed. 100 TYP BREAKOUT INSIDE Breakout Framed System Breakout AP System

IRS Infared Safety Sensors DORMA IRS infa-red safety sensors minimise the risk of people, animals or other obstructions being hit by automatically opening and closing swing doors. The sensors operate with an active infa-red beam and thus detect any change which occurs within their scanning range. Safety Reversal STOP Mounted on the pull side, the DORMA IRS 70, 90 and 120 infa-red sensors monitor the opening sweep of the door. In the event that someone coming from the push side initiates an opening pulse while a person or obstruction is located in the sweep range, the IRS sensors disable the opening action. Note if a swing door in the open position can be approached from the side then a barrier should be installed along the line of the door leaf in its open position. The DORMA IRS 33 infa-red sensor is mounted on the push side and performs three tasks: In the area closest to the door, it acts as an activator to open the door. When the door is opened, it prevents it from closing again - irrespective of the preset hold-open time - while there are persons or obstructions located in the passage zone. If a door is stopped by a pull-side sensor, it ensures that the door is only released for operation again once the passage is free. Where it is necessary to prevent passers-by from triggering an opening pulse (e.g. in doors located in corridor walls), the sensors can be switched off when the door is closed by DORMA ED 200i swing operators featuring the enhanced control system. Specification The automatic swing door operator for the application shall be the DORMA ED 200i automatic electro-hydraulic in-head swing door operator. The operator shall be of compact design (150mmx152mm) and is to form the transom above the door. The operator shall comprise motor pump unit, opening and closing elements and integral electronic control. The closing force of the automatic door operator shall be spring size 3-5. The unit shall provide electro-hydraulic opening and spring closing. Hold-open is to be achieved by means of a built-in continuous duty solenoid valve and is to be fully adjustable up to a maximum of 60 seconds. Opening and closing speeds and also opening and closing damping are to be independently adjustable. The automatic in-head swing door unit is to offer three switchable programs: off, automatic, hold open and must offer connection facilities for peripheral equipment DORMA IRS safety sensor strips, door actuator, door lock, switching relays etc. Upon power failure to the unit, the operator shall function as a manual swing closer. Safety to the door is to be provided by the DORMA IRS safety system, with one IRS unit to be mounted to each side of the door. Where the breakout safety system is installed the automatic in-head swing door operator is to feature a breakout system, whereby the doors can be pushed open against the normal direction of opening in case of emergency, with the automatic operation of the doors being suspended when this occurs. After having been broken out, the systems is to be restored to its automatic state by pushing the door through the closed position in the usual direction of opening and resetting the catch.
