Part 3: Hydrogen infrastructure and how to implement fuel cell bus fueling in the Nordic cities? Oslo - April 17th, 2018 Jon André Løkke CEO NEL ASA Number one by nature

About Nel Hydrogen World s largest pure-play hydrogen company with a market cap of 300 million >3500 hydrogen solutions delivered in >80 countries world wide since 1927 +200 employees in Norway, Denmark and USA with world-class experience and skills World #1 on hydrogen electrolysers and hydrogen fueling unrivalled performance and track-record Offering hydrogen technology and solutions for industrial, energy and transport applications Page 2

New H2Station manufacturing facility in Denmark H2Station manufactured at world s largest hydrogen fueling station factory 300 H2Station per year sufficient for fueling 200.000 new FCEVs annually Page 3

Hydrogen JUST ANOTHER FUEL Hydrogen shall be seen as just another fuel Together with partners - Nel can offer a full service concept Transition from fossil to 100% renewable made easy Buy hydrogen dispensed at pump, just like fossil fuels Low hydrogen price achieved through large scale centralized production from cheap renewable power Minimizes footprint at bus depo, high pressure combined distribution/storage solutions gives redundancy Fuel Cell Electric Buses (FCEB) can be refueled, serviced and maintained like traditional busses Long-term contracts for 100% green Hydrogen is available Per kg price incl. refueling station, operation and maintenance Renewable hydrogen offered at attractive price ensures FOSSIL PARITY Page 4

How? Page 5

What is fossil parity? Fossil parity: Cost diesel (fossil) solution =or> renewable hydrogen solution 5* /kg 50 NOK/kg Fuel Cell Electric Buses at equals Diesel price of ~9,00 NOK/liter excl. VAT No cost assigned to harmful fossil emissions like: CO2, SO2, NOx, CO, HC, PM Go renewable, save money and save lives Page 6

Competitive solution for entire value chain Optimized hydrogen supply chain Renewable electricity converted to hydrogen centrally at industrial scale to insure low energy cost Distributed by truck, and dispensed competitively Fueling infrastructure can be provided as part of the supply contract: 1.000kg/day, 10 year depreciation, <2,5hours distribution: 40 /MWh 0.40 NOK/kWh 2,5 /kg 25 NOK/kg + 1,3 /kg 13 NOK/kg + 1,1 /kg = 11 NOK/kg 5* /kg 50 NOK/kg * 1 ~10 NOK Large scale Central production 20 MW High pressure Distribution 1.000 1.500 kg / truck Efficient dispensing 100% availability Page 7

Hydrogen supply from central production Central H2Plant Location to be optimized Central large scale production, distribution, fueling, services Efficient Hydrogen distribution: 1.500kg pr. truck Container swap or dump-off Bus depot Bus depot Bus depot 2,5 hours Produced locally on 100% renewable basis: Bus depot capacity can easily be added or expanded Fuel with 100% renewable hydrogen at attractive price Page 8

Technical solution generic production and depot site Centralized hydrogen production, storage and compression Hydrogen production by centralized electrolyser s (scalable with demand): 2 8 tons/day Redundant setup with 0-70 MPa compressor lines - and large scale storage for flexibility Storage trailers are always connected ready for swap with empty trailers at depots Page 9

New cluster design significantly reduces CapEx Cluster of 8 A485 electrolysers capacity 8t/day Page 10

New distribution solution reduced transport cost High pressure distribution (1.500kg H2 per load = 75 bus fuelings) Page 11

New fueling station compact/flexible with low CapEx 350 bar for bus Option: potential to fuel cars 700 bar H2Station Refueling Page 12

Small station service 30 busses at ~60 m2 Nel Hydrogen H2 bus refueling station, 700 bar in a 20ft. container Arriving (full) swap storage is parked and connected Truck driver then leaves with empty trailer Scalable and efficient solution, also applicable for other HD segments 9 m Station footprint: 58,5 m2 Trench pipelines to HD dispenser(s) (up to 100m dist.) 6,5 m HMI Fueling capacity per full swap: 1x 70MPa trailer: 25-30 busses* (780kg H2 rating per trailer) Recommended for: Small to medium fleets. Single lane design saves space, but imply longer swap-time. H2Station HD Module (Flexible location) Drive-thru lane for H2 storage parking * avg. at 20kg per bus fueling # swap s per day to be specified 3,5 m Page 13

Large station service up to 150 busses at ~200m2 16 m Trench pipelines to HD dispenser(s) (up to 100m dist.) H2Station HD Module HMI Station footprint: 200 m2 (Flexible location) 12,5 m Fueling capacity per full swap: 1x70MPa trailer: 100-150 busses* (1.560kg H2 rating per trailer) Recommended for: Large fleets. H2 parked via free drive-thru, before attaching empty trailer. Two trailers parked at all time. Drive-thru lane for H2 storage parking Drive-thru lane for H2 storage parking Drive-thru lane for H2 storage parking * avg. at 20kg per bus fueling # swap s per day to be specified 3,5 m Page 14

Local bus depot example (Unibuss/Ruter) Page 15

H2 distribution example Rosenholm Oslo Central Large Scale H2 production (100% hydropower available at numerous sites) Trucked-in in pressurized tanks, 700 bar in a 40ft container, 1.500kg of hydrogen Bus depot in Rosenholm, currently serving 5 busses, operated by Unibuss/Ruter Page 16

New fueling solution: 10x capacity at half price Existing solution from 2012: Existing H2 Refueling Onsite production Up to 250 kg/day, ~10-12 FC buses Footprint: ~350m2 H2 price: +110NOK/kg New proposed solution: New H2Station Central production trucked-in Up to 3.000 kg/day, ~150 FC buses Footprint: ~200m2 H2 price: ~50NOK/kg Supports fossil parity Page 17

Number of busses impacts hydrogen price Price examples for different fleet sizes* 10 busses H2 price: 85 NOK/kg 50 busses H2 price: 60 NOK/kg 150 busses H2 price: 50 NOK/kg * Prices are dependent on local factors Page 18

Implications of Scale? At Scale Fuel Cell Electric Bus (FCEB) = cheapest ZE public transport solution (bus prices already quoted at FCB CPH17*) As production goes up further price will decrease accordingly No expensive investment in fueling / charging infrastructure Supplier of hydrogen provides refueling infrastructure Refueling done at depot no interference with traffic/problem for the city during setup and operation Fuel Cell electric busses are 1:1 substitution for diesel buses Same range, can service existing routes, i.e. no need to adapt routes and schedule Refueling done at depot, once per day like a diesel bus Fueling capacity increase at depot made easy just add additional trailers * See published white paper for TCO analysis Page 19

Together we can do it will you join? There are ongoing initiatives to commercialize the FCEB s Fuel Cell Electric Bus orders are being cumulated this drives down bus prices significantly Looking for hubs of FCEB s in Norway minimum 50 FCEB s pr. hub Target a minimum of 200 FCEB s implemented in Norway by 2022 Are gathering local engagement and reviewing possibilities Let s look at opportunities in your Town / Region Contact Lars Jakobsen M:+45 2972 3933 email larsj@nelhydrogen.com Page 20

H2Bus partnership Particles vs. Water, what emission do you prefer? FCEB made competitive with Diesel! Who want s to join from Norway? Number one by nature
