DESCRIPTION OF OPERATIONS CLOSED POSITION 9 The piston is a flush fit to the reactor or dryer leaving no dead space (FIG. 1). A perfect seal is formed directly by the piston (9) against the body of the valve. 2 1 FIG. 1 SAMPLING PROCEDURE Turn the handwheel counter clockwise to lower the piston (9) to its open position. While the product flows down into the sampling bottle (2), the operator can check the desired quantity of the product through the sight glass (1) (FIG. 2 ). 9 Turn the handwheel clockwise to bring back the piston (9) in its closed position. A firm final turn of the handwheel will give reliable sealing and no dead space. 2 1 FIG. 2 Equalise the pressure (or vacuum) in chamber (V) by opening the valve (25). PATENTED PISTON In closed position, sealing is formed directly by the piston on the inside wall of the valve, without the need of a gasket. The patented system inside this piston allows the PTFE to expand and insure a perfect tightness from vacuum up to 10 bar (145 psi). The advantage of having an expendable piston inside the valve is to eliminate the need for O-rings that can be damaged during valve operation. In this position, the piston will be flush with the connection point, leaving no dead space. www.famat.com 5

STANDARD DN50 / PN10 125A Type 125A is the standard DN50 sampling valve by Famat (FIG. 1 ). Used for sampling applications of powders, granules, pastes and liquids under process conditions in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries. Pressure from full vacuum up to 10 bar (145 psi). Temperature from -20 C (-4 F) up to 180 C (360 F). FIG. 1 In standard configuration, the internal roughtness is Ra 0.8 µm and the external is Ra 3.2 µm. 6

TRI-CLAMP EASY CLEAN DN50 / PN10 125TC For cleaning internals between batches This sampling valve has one Tri-Clamp (TC) 2.5 near the handwheel (FIG. 1 ). Called " EasyClean ", the piston can be removed from the valve housing with the minimum of effort allowing full cleaning as shown on the picture (FIG. 2 ). Please note, the dryer or the vessel has to be empty for this procedure. For CIP options (Cleaning In Place), please refer to page 20. FIG. 1 FIG. 2 www.famat.com 7

CRUST BREAKING 125CC DN50 / PN10 This valve is used for products which could clug inside the dryer or vessel and block the piston. To eliminate the risk of this impeding product flow in to the sampling valve, Famat has developped the 125CC (FIG. 1). With this kind of valve type, the crust will be broken by the piston before the sample is taken. security device 1. Remove the security device. 2. Turn the red handwheel clockwise to move the piston into the dryer to break the crust as shown on the picture (FIG. 2 ). 3. Once the crust has been broken. Proceed with the standard sampling (page 4) with the black handwheel to get the sample inside the bottle. FIG. 1 Caution : Make sure to engage the security device in the red handwheel and as soon as possible to secure it with the lock to avoid any contact with the mixer or blades when bringing back the piston in its closed position. The outlet length can be adapted on request. FIG. 2 8

SECURITY 125S DN50 / PN10 A B The mechanical locking device secures the sampling procedure. 1. The sampling bottle (container) can only be removed if the piston is completly closed and if the purging valve is opened. 2. The piston can only be opened if the sampling bottle (container) is coupled on the outlet and if the purging valve is closed. The sample is taken in the same way as the standard Famat sample valve. The indicator (A) shows the position of the piston. This indicator has to show " closed " to allow the security lock (B) to be moved to the open position. Only then, the sampling bottle can be removed from its bayonet coupling. The piston is locked inside the valve until the sample bottle is refitted and the security lock (B) is moved to " closed ". www.famat.com 9

NEAR INFRA RED 125NIR DN50 / PN10 At the top of the piston, the 125NIR valve (FIG. 1 ) has a scraper which allows installation of a fiberoptic probe (FIG. 2 ). This probe, ideally located, will measure several parameters such as temperature, ph, humidity and / or composition of the product before taking physically the sample, transmitted by fiberoptic to the connector. A second hole, on the scraper (FIG. 2 ), is made nearby the fiberoptic probe for the cleaning system (Nitrogen) as shown on the picture. The measuring probe (not shown on picture) is cleaned through a nozzle with Nitrogen. FIG. 1 FIG. 2 www.famat.com 11

HIGH CONTAINMENT 125OEL DN50 / PN10 Toxic products This new compact OEL High-Containment sampling device (FIG. 1 ) allows the removal of a product sampled under contained conditions. The OEL (Operator Exposure Limit) describes the maximum concentration of a drug substance which can be tolerated in the air of the production room without any negative effect to the health of the operators. The (OEL) level range : 1-10µg / m 3 Container capacity : 290 ml (# 18 cu in) Tri-clamp connection : DN 80-3.5 FIG. 1 The bottle (container) has a piston which includes 2 separating parts : (FIG. 3, page 15) The front plug isolates the outlet of the sampling valve. The body of the piston (inside the bottle) isolates and seals the sampling bottle. The container includes a locking system and a purging valve (Tri-clamp, ¼ G). The handwheel allows a precise sampling of the product (FIG. 2 ). DESCRIPTION OF OPERATIONS 2 V 1 IN CLOSED POSITION The High-Containment device remains closed (seals without dead volume), assembled with the intermediate unit (1) and fixed to the Famat sampling valve (2). The plug (3) and the piston (4) are joined together via a bayonet and magnets. The indicator (5) shows the position «closed» of the bottle. FIG. 1 SAMPLING A sample can be taken by lowering the piston (3 and 4). On opening the sampling valve, the product flows down into the sample bottle. The quantity can be controlled by the operator through the sight glass (caution do not overfill ). Close the piston when the required quantity is reached. 5 3 REMOVING THE SAMPLING BOTTLE FIG. 2 4 Adjust compartment (V) to atmospheric pressure. Bring back the piston to its closed position. A firm final turn of the handwheel will ensure sealing of the valve and no dead volume. Remove the sample bottle unit by its quick coupling connection. This action will disconnect the front plug of the piston. The sampling valve outlet is closed by the plug (3) and the sample bottle sealed with the piston (FIG. 3 ). Under secure conditions in a laboratory, the sample can be extracted from the sample bottle by retracting the piston or by removing the Tri-Clamp connection. FIG. 3 CLEANING (process to be approved by customer) Reconnect the empty sample bottle with its closed piston, (FIG. 4 ) onto the unit. A cleaning can be carried out throughout the valve via various cleaning ports placed on the sample valve and the sample bottle (defined on request). Before further sampling, all ports must be closed. METALLIC 135A DN50 / PN10 The 135A sampling valve (FIG. 1 ) is equipped with a metallic piston (Stainless Steel, Hastelloy) for sampling process up to 300 C (572 F). Unlike the PTFE or PEEK piston, the metal piston has a high temperature gasket around it. To avoid any damage when closing the piston, the gasket is recessed into the piston and seals against the valve cylinder wall making contact only after the final sealing turn of the handwheel. Tightness from vacuum up to 10 bar (145 psi). FIG. 1 14

STANDARD 130C DN25 / PN10 The design is similar to the DN50 range with, as always, the patented expansion system for perfect sealing tightness. Pressure from full vacuum up to 10 bar (145 psi). Temperature from -20 C (-4 F) up to 180 C (360 F). In standard configuration, the internal roughtness is Ra 0.8 µm and the external is Ra 1.6 µm. www.famat.com 15

STANDARD 115A DN15 / PN10 For small reactors or dryers, the DN 15 sampling valve by Famat (FIG. 1 ) is usually used for liquid product. The design is similar to the DN 25 range with, as always, the patented expansion system for a perfect tightness. Pressure from full vacuum up to 10 bar (145 psi). Temperature from -20 C (-4 F) up to 180 C (360 F). In standard configuration, the internal roughtness is Ra 0.8 µm and the external is Ra 1.6 µm. FIG. 1 16

CLEANING / PURGING STERILISATION By placing 2 cleaning valves on the body, the solvent will clean / sterilise around the piston, the outlet and the bottle which is also equipped with a valve. Once flushing is complete, the chamber is dried by nitrogen through the same cleaning valves.
