Why use electronics in agriculture? In an age of increasing globalisation, agriculture is gaining more and more importance. Rapidly growing population numbers and the associated increase in the demand for food presents new challenges for farmers, as they are under pressure to produce sufficient quantities of inexpensive foods on an ongoing basis. The key to success lies in the highly efficient management of agricultural land. Key word precision farming If a field is to be farmed as precisely as possible, machines need to be optimally adapted to the existing ground and soil conditions. The solution lies in electronic controls and drives, which allow all workflows to be carried out with pinpoint precision! They also help secure and even increase yields sustainably, and they ensure that the time, cost and effort of farming are substantially reduced, particularly in the long term. LEMKEN FieldTronic in soil cultivation: precision and economy LEMKEN is always at least one step ahead as far as pioneering soil cultivation solutions are concerned. Our ploughs and cultivators feature powerful electronics and numerous well-designed details to combine operating comfort with ultimate safety and reliability of use. Tomorrow s plough technology TurnControl is part of the standard equipment of the Juwel and Diamant 12 reversible ploughs. The great advantage: This electrohydraulic control allows both the rotation and the tilt of the plough to be adjusted safely, reliably and comfortably straight from the tractor. Additional functions such as the automatic triggering of the furrow press or the electrohydraulic control of the depth wheel can be added as an option. TurnControl Pro* is the ISOBUS-compatible, fully electronic control solution for the Juwel 8 V. It handles automatic plough rotation and the adjustment of plough tilt, working width and working depth as standard, and these functionalities can even be extended further upon request. What I like most about my Juwel 8 with TurnControl Pro is that the working width adjusts flexibly via GPS while ploughing. This makes it so much easier to avoid obstacles, and the plough automatically gets back on track! LEMKEN ContourTrac for the Karat KA shows that this problem can be solved: With electronic contour following, the cultivator is guided via the trailing roller, based on the pressure applying to the depth wheels. As the cultivator frame is consistently and optimally adapted to the load applying to the depth wheels, a constant working depth is consistently maintained even when driving over crests or through dips. This ensures that the traction is evenly transferred to the tractor. LEMKEN FieldTronic in sowing: comfort and versatility LEMKEN seed drills are innovative and economical, not least due to the electronics they feature as a standard. These allow implement settings to be adapted precisely to the given ground and soil conditions. The electronic highlights of LEMKEN seed drills are, depending on the model, the Easytronic and Solitronic system controls, which allow a wide range of data and processes to be controlled and monitored. High-precision sowing The Easytronic system control automates fundamental functions. Easytronic allows tramlines to be easily prepared and monitored, for example. A user-friendly calibration aid and diagnostics menu ensure that the machine can be easily set up and operated. An integrated hectare counter additionally makes measuring individual sections or total areas a breeze. Everything under control The Solitronic system control is available in a standard and an ISOBUS version. Apart from the basic functionalities, it offers numerous additional functions for easy, efficient sowing. A straightforward calibration process, for example, allows seed quantities to be easily and quickly set and flexibly adjusted all at the stroke of a single key! As an added bonus, variable seed rates can be planned and automatically metered for specific locations via ISOBUS and GPS combined with the Taskcontroller. This ensures that the right seeding rate is applied at the right place at next to no effort! A touch screen with user-friendly operator guidance provides perfect user comfort. My Solitair 9 with Solitronic control quickly paid off. It produces optimum results, especially when it is combined with a GPS receiver. For highly precise, economical sowing I use LEMKEN s fully automatic, GPS-based headlands management HeadlandCommand. The GPS-based tramline mechanism LEMKEN TramlineControl, which prepares the tramlines for me, is also extremely helpful! LEMKEN FieldTronic in crop protection: economy and reliability Effective crop protection is an essential requirement for successful harvests. That s why LEMKEN offers reliable machines that ensure precise application through innovative crop protection technology and combine high efficiency with environmental performance and user comfort. They incorporate electronic individual and system solutions to help simplify and customise processes. Precision at a keystroke The basic model of the Sirius series features Easyspray as standard. A reliable remote control ensures that application rates of crop protection products and fertilisers are significantly reduced, as individual functions can be easily set and flexibly adjusted at the stroke of a few keys. These functions include switching the main valve on and off, electric pressure adjustment and electrical switching of part width sections via a toggle switch. Always the right solution The Sirius 10 is available with Ecospray or Megaspray at your option. Ecospray is a fully automatic operating terminal that gives access to additional functionalities. Highlights include speed-dependent control of application rates and the control of all hydraulic functions. Various displays showing distances travelled or boom height, for example, these additionally ensure safe implement operation. Megaspray is an ISOBUS control for all those who want to obtain maximum benefit from their Sirius. Its many, exclusive extras ensure even more precisely targeted application. In combination with EltecPro, it allows each nozzle to be switched on and off individually, for example. This pays off in terms of consumption of crop protection products! Additional useful tools include the electronic fill level indicator, the 4-way selector valve for comfortable, automatic switching, and GPS-based part width section control. Section Control. Since our switch to the Sirius 10 with Megaspray, crop protection has become much easier for us. We are particularly impressed by LEMKEN s automatic boom guidance Boom Command Pro! All we need to do is to select the setting, and the rest is done automatically. This saves us time and avoids stress, so we can focus on more important things. Apps and auxiliaries The comprehensive range of available CCI apps allows you to expand your CCI terminal by many useful additional functionalities. Most of the apps are already included at no extra cost, and additional apps can be easily installed at any time. Overview of available applications: CCI.Command PT and SC CCI. Command is a GPS-based parallel tracking assistance and automatic part width section control. This app not only allows tramline rows to be identified, but also permits part width sections to be controlled with great precision. Automatic headlands management is another very helpful feature. CCI.Control CCI.Control is your job management tool and forms the interface between the farm PC and the implement control on the CCI terminal. This allows not only the data recorded by your machine to be transferred to other computers, but even entire workflows to be easily controlled and documented. CCI.Courier With CCI.Courier you can easily transfer data recorded by your machine to other computers such as your farm PC, and access them any time by e-mail, FTP or via Dropbox. CCI.Farmpilot Farmpilot is your online organisation portal for seamlessly intermeshing workflows. The corresponding app gives you an overview of machine and staff scheduling and current jobs. Automatic fleet management is yet another significant advantage! For more information visit www.farmpilot.de. CCI.Field.Nav Non-local operators often find navigating a challenge, but there is an easy solution: Field. Nav! Field.Nav is guaranteed to locate every destination at just one click. The app takes vertical and horizontal clearances and weight limitations into account as a matter of course, and field start points can additionally be defined to ensure that the correct field is worked on. CCI.TECU Many tractors do not yet feature ISOBUS, but have a signal socket instead. CCI.TECU can use this socket to collect a wide range of work data such as speed of travel, PTO speed and linkage position and then share this data with other bus subscribers. CCI.Weather If your CCI terminal has an internet connection, CCI.Weather allows you to easily access current weather forecasts. CCI.Cam CCI.Cam transmits the images recorded by various cameras directly to your terminal, ensuring that you always have an excellent overview of your machine. Auxiliaries Auxiliaries are additional operating elements such as joysticks or toggle switch panels to facilitate implement control. A major advantage of these is that they can be freely positioned! This makes it easy for operators to complete even tasks where they need to keep their eyes to their left and have displays and machine controls at their backs. 12 LEMKEN LEMKEN 13
ISOBUS and future perspectives We have established a consortium with other experts under the CCI umbrella in order to increase the efficiency of agricultural machinery even further. Our goal is to drive decisive advances in the ISOBUS standard for agricultural machinery, which already allows farmers to network devices from different manufacturers, to coordinate workflows and to adapt them precisely to their individual conditions. However, CCI members also continue to research new functionalities, all of which serve only the one goal, namely to provide even greater user friendliness and optimum efficiency for farmers. Fieldtronic opens up new perspectives The full potential of electronic solutions has not yet been exploited by far. Many additional innovations are in the pipeline. Here is an overview of the benefits that agricultural machinery electronics will soon bring to you: Tablets as versatile display devices with capacities for additional apps that offer even greater user friendliness than conventional auxiliaries Numerous additional applications for the CCI terminal, which will make even more functionalities available to farmers Development of cross-process services that draw on and combine various data sources Another promising development in the pipeline is Tractor Implement Management (TIM), which allows implements to interact with tractor controls to achieve even greater efficiency and economy!
