Operator s Responsibility Most accidents are caused because of neglect or carelessness. Avoid needless accidents by following all of the safety precautions listed below. The user is responsible for inspecting the Levee Disc Implement before each use and for having necessary repairs done to prevent further damage to the unit. It is the responsibility of the user to read the owner s manual and understand the safe and correct operating procedures for this unit. The operator of this Levee Disc must read and understand the material contained in this manual. The Levee Disc should be operated by those responsible and authorized by the owner to do so. Only a qualified operator should be permitted on the tractor when the Levee Disc is in operation. No riders should be allowed on the unit. Never allow anyone on or near the Levee Disc for any reason while tractor is running. Carefully maintain control of the Levee Disc when traveling on public roads. Stop the tractor engine before doing any maintenance or repairs to the unit. Use caution when working with the hydraulic system. Hydraulic fluid can be under extreme pressure and can cause infection or other serious personal injury. Make sure your tractor front end has adequate counter-weight. Failure to properly counter-balance the weight of the Levee Disc can cause the tractor to overturn resulting in severe injury or death. If you are unsure how much front-end weight to add, consult your dealer. Use caution when crossing ditches, levees, etc., or when using on uneven terrain. Never allow anyone to play on or around the Levee Disc. Disc gangs on the unit can roll and cause injury. Use extreme caution when changing bearings or handling the discs and scraper blades. Worn discs and blades can become very sharp resulting in personal injury or death. Do not attempt to remove any obstruction while the unit is in operation. Always use the parking stands and park the unit on level ground when disconnected from the tractor. Check to make sure the unit cannot be overturned either forward or backwards. 4

Operating Instructions Grease hinge pins and bearings daily. Make sure the Levee Disc is slightly elevated before adjusting the disc gang angle and spacing. The adjustable parking stands should be raised and pinned while the unit is in transport or operation. When the unit is not in use, the stands should always be lowered and pinned to prevent the unit from tipping forward or while unhitching from the unit. Always park the unit on level ground. Visually inspect all bolts daily. Keep gang bolts tightened up to 1200 ft-lb of torque. Carefully rotate each gang to check for worn or damaged blades, gang shafts, worn scrapers, damaged bearings or castings and other parts of each gang assembly which may need replaced. Replace 3-point linkage pins with only original Bigham linkage pins. NEVER substitute with other 3- point linkage pins. All 3-point linkage pins should be properly secured before attempting to transport the Levee Disc. When Attaching Quick Hitch Top pin is for stability purposes only and must have sufficient clearance for lower pins to carry weight. If sufficient clearance is not allowed, tractor damage, implement damage or personal injury may occur. Tractor Hook-Up Remove or slide the tractor drawbar to one side before hooking the Hipper to the tractor. The unit has three point linkage hook-up for Category 2/3 tractors. Check for sufficient clearance between rear tractor tires and unit discs. If sufficient clearance is not allowed, tractor damage, implement damage or personal injury may occur. Raise and lower the unit slowly with the tractor to check front end stability of the tractor before transporting the unit. Raise and lower the wings before transporting. 5

Always check your three point linkage pins connecting the Levee Disc to the tractor to make sure they are properly secured and not damaged. Failure to properly secure the three point linkage pins could result in serious injury to the operator or damage to the tractor or unit. Disc Gang Adjustment The Bigham Levee Disc features a unique vernier hinge which allows for independent adjustment of each setting; width, cutting depth, and cutting angle. Width Adjustment The cutting width can be adjusted by using the ratchet jacks at the center of the unit. Cutting Depth Adjustment The cutting depth is adjusted by using the ratchet jacks on each gang. 6

Angle Adjustment The cutting angle can be set by pulling the pin, rotating the gangs, and re-locating the pin in the holes that are have now become aligned. A different set of holes will align every 3 degrees. Scraper Assembly The scraper blades are slotted for adjustment and have two scraping edges designed for use on 24 and 26 inch discs. Once worn, the blades can be rotated to the other edge.
