Focus Problem #1 WASTEWATER 80% of the marine pollution comes from the land, mainly wastewater High organic loading: 10-100x municipal 40-54% organic water pollutants from Food sector Food production uses 70 90 per cent of the available fresh water Problem #2 PLASTIC 299 Mt produced in 2013 10+ Mt/y into oceans 100+ years degradation More plastic than fish by 2050

Goal Food industry wastewater to make a completely biobased and biodegradable plastic (PHA Polyhydroxyalkanoates)
