VEHICLES THAT RECEIVE OVER SIZED TIRES SHOULD CHECK BALL JOINTS, TIE ROD ENDS, IDLER ARM, PITMAN ARM, AS WELL AS GENERALLY INSPECT THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION FRONT TO REAR EVERY 2500 5000 MILES FOR WEAR AND REPLACE AS NEEDED. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. JACK-UP TRUCK AND SUPPORT WITH JACK STANDS. 2. REMOVE BATTERY CABLES (REMOVE NEGATIVE CABLE FIRST). 3. REMOVE WHEELS AND TIRES. 4. REMOVE THE BOLTS THAT HOLD TENSION ON THE TORSION BARS. USING A TORSION BAR REMOVAL TOOL COMPRESS THE TORSION KEYS FAR ENOUGH TO SLIDE THE THREADED ADJUSTER BLOCK OUT. (USE EXTREME CARE AS TORSION BARS ARE UNDER A VERY HEAVY LOAD). REMOVE TORSION BAR ADJUSTER CAMS BY PUSHING TORSION BARS FORWARD. 5. REMOVE BOLTS THAT HOLD REAR TORSION BAR CROSSMEMBER TO MOUNTS ON FRAME (THESE BOLTS WILL BE REUSED). REMOVE CROSSMEMBER. REMOVE TORSION BARS. 6. REMOVE FRONT PLASTIC SKIDPLATE (SKIDPLATE AND BOLTS WILL BE REUSED) REMOVE ALUMINUM SKIDPLATE FROM BOTTOM OF TRUCK (BOLTS WILL NOT BE REUSED). 7. (4WD ONLY) - REMOVE CLAMP FROM DRIVESHAFT SLIP BOOT AT TRANSFER CASE. REMOVE U- JOINT BOLTS AND CLAMPS AND REMOVE FRONT DRIVESHAFT FROM TRUCK 8. REMOVE TIE ROD ENDS FROM LEFT AND RIGHT SPINDLE UPRIGHT WITH TIE ROD REMOVAL TOOL (OEM NUTS WILL BE REUSED). UNSCREW TIE ROD ASSEMBLY FROM CENTER LINK (MARK LEFT AND RIGHT TIE ROD ASSEMBLIES). 9. REMOVE FRONT SHOCKS FROM TRUCK (SHOCK BOLTS WILL BE REUSED). 10. REMOVE ANTI-SWAY BAR LINKS FROM LCA AND REMOVE FROM TRUCK 11. UNPLUG ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSOR WIRES AT FRAME AND REMOVE CLIPS THAT HOLD THEM TO FRAME, UCA, AND SPINDLE. (TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE WIRE). 12. REMOVE FOUR BOLTS THAT HOLD BRAKE LINE TO SPINDLE UPRIGHT AND UCA(UPRIGHT BOLTS BE REUSED). REMOVE FOUR BOLTS THAT HOLD BRAKE CALIPER TO SPINDLE UPRIGHT AND HANG CALIPERS OUT OF THE WAY WITH TIE-WIRE (DO NOT LET CALIPERS HANG ON BRAKE LINES). 13. (4WD ONLY) - REMOVE BOLTS THAT HOLD INBOARD CV JOINTS TO DRIVE FLANGE ON FRONT DIFFERENTIAL (OEM BOLTS BE REUSED). 14. REMOVE ALL NUTS FROM UCA AND LCA PIVOT BOLTS. SUPPORT LCA AND SPINDLE ASSEMBLY WITH FLOOR JACK. REMOVE CAMS AND BOLTS FROM UCA PIVOTS. THEN REMOVE BOLTS FROM LCA PIVOTS. REMOVE SPINDLE UPRIGHT A-ARM ASSEMBLY FROM TRUCK. (UCA AND LCA BOLTS WILL BE REUSED). 15. REMOVE ANTI-SWAY BAR FROM TRUCK BY REMOVING FOUR BOLTS AND TWO CLAMPS (FOUR BOLTS WILL NOT BE REUSED). 16. REMOVE STEERING CENTER LINK FROM PITMAN AND IDLER ARMS USING CENTER LINK PULLER (OEM NUTS WILL BE REUSED). 17. (4WD ONLY) - REMOVE FOUR BOLTS THAT HOLD THE LOWER REAR PIVOT CROSSMEMBER (UNDER OIL PAN) IN PLACE AND REMOVE FROM TRUCK (BOLTS AND CROSSMEMBER WILL NOT BE REUSED). 18. (4WD ONLY) - REMOVE VENT LINE FROM FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. REMOVE CONTROL WIRES FROM DIFFERENTIAL SOLENOID AND CLIPS THAT HOLD WIRES TO HOUSING.
19. (4WD ONLY) - SUPPORT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WITH A FLOOR JACK AND REMOVE MOUNTING BOLTS. CAREFULLY REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL. (UPPER MOUNTING BOLTS, NUTS AND WASHERS WILL BE REUSED). 20. PULL OEM BUMP-STOPS OUT OF THE MOUNTS IN FRAME (OEM BUMP-STOPS WILL NOT BE REUSED). CUT THE BUMP-STOP MOUNTS OFF THE FRAME, USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE.
21. (4WD ONLY) - REMOVE THE FRAME MATERIAL WHERE NEEDED FROM THE DRIVERS REAR LOWER PIVOT TO CLEAR THE DIFF. MAKE A VERTICAL CUT 1 7/8 IN FROM THE CENTER OF THE PIVOT HOLE. USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE.
22. GRIND CORNERS OF UPPER FRONT PIVOTS SO NEW DROP DOWN BRACKETS BOLT ON FLUSH. USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE. 23. GRIND FRAME MATERIAL SMOOTH WHERE CUT AND PAINT BARE METAL SO IT WILL NOT RUST. 24. (4WD ONLY) - WITH GRINDER REMOVE ¼ TIP OF PITTMAN ARM TAPER BELOW THREADS. USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE. 25. BAG #1 INSTALL TORSION DROP MOUNTS INTO THE OEM MOUNTS USING THE SUPPLIED 9/16 X 3 1/2 BOLTS, NUTS AND WASHERS. BOLT ON THE OUTSIDE COVER PLATES USING THE SUPPLIED 7/16 BOLTS AND HARDWARE. 27. BAG #2 REINSTALL ANTI-SWAY BAR. USING A 25/64 DRILL BIT, DRILL OUT 4 OEM THREADED HOLES WHERE ANTI-SWAY BAR BRACKETS BOLT ON. TURN ANTI-SWAY BAR UPSIDE-DOWN AND PLACE IN TRUCK. INSTALL TWO ALUMINUM DROP BLOCKS WITH (4) 3/8 X 2½ BOLTS. USE (4) 3/8 WASHERS ON BOLTS. INSTALL (4) 3/8 LOCKNUTS AND TIGHTEN. 28. INSTALL SUPPLIED STEERING CENTER LINK ONTO IDLER ARM AND PITMAN ARM (TABS FACING THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK). USING LOCKTITE INSTALL OEM NUTS AND TIGHTEN TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. INSTALL TWO GREASE FITTINGS INTO INSIDE ENDS OF CENTER LINK. 29. (4WD ONLY) - INSTALL RIGHT SIDE DIFFERENTIAL DROP DOWN BRACKET TO FACTORY MOUNT ON CHASSIS WING. LOCKTITE OEM WASHERS AND NUTS (OPEN SIDE OUT WITH NOTCHED CORNER TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK). TIGHTEN NUTS. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE UPPER DIFFERENTIAL DROP DOWN BRACKET INTO FACTORY MOUNT USING OEM BOLT AND NUT WITH LOCKTITE (SHORT LEG TOWARD THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUCK). DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME.
30. BAG #3 (4WD ONLY) - RAISE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL INTO PLACE AND HANG THE DIFF USING (1) 9/16 X 4 BOLT; (2) WASHERS; (1) NUT ON THE TOP AND; (2) 9/16 X 1 ½ BOLTS; (4) 9/16 WASHERS AND (2) 9/16 NUTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE. FROM BAG #3. DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME. 31. BAG #4 USING ANTISIEZE COMPOUND, ASSEMBLE HEIM JOINT LINKS ( (4) 5/8 HEIMS, (4) JAM NUTS, AND (2) THREADED SLEEVES) AND ADJUST TO A DISTANCE OF 5 3/8 CENTER-TO-CENTER. TIGHTEN JAM NUTS SECURELY. ATTACH THEESE HEIM LINKS TO THE SUB-FRAME USING THE 5/8 X 1 ½ FINE THREAD BOLTS. 32. BAG #5 RAISE THE SUB-FRAME INTO PLACE USING (2) 5/8 X 4½ BOLTS WITH WASHERS IN FRONT LEGS AND (2) 5/8 X 5½ BOLTS WITH WASHERS IN REAR LEGS. INSTALL BOLTS FROM FRONT TO REAR. DUE TO INCONSISTENCY IN TRUCK FRAMES YOU MAY NEED TO RUN 5/8 DRILL BIT THROUGH HOLES IN PIVOTS. INSTALL 5/8 WASHERS AND NUTS. INSTALL 9/16 X 4 BOLT, WASHERS AND LOCKNUT INTO REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT ON DRIVERS SIDE OF SUBFRAME. 33. INSTALL STEERING STABILIZER MOUNT ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE LEFT FRONT LEG ONTO THE 5/8 BOLT JUST INSTALLED. POINT BRACKET TABS TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE TRUCK. TIGHTEN ALL DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING BOLTS AND CROSSMEMBER BOLTS AT THIS TIME. ATTACH THE HEIM LINKS TO THE STEERING CENTERLINK USING 5/8 X 2 BOLTS, AND LOCKNUTS. 34. INSTALL BUMPSTOP / DROOPSTOP MOUNTS USING ½ X 1 ½ BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND WASHERS ON THE BOTTOM AND 3/8 X 1 ¼ BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND WASHERS ON THE TOP. MARK THE HOLES AND DRILL THE FRAME ON THE UPPER REAR HOLES (FRONT UPPER HOLES DO NOT GET USED) BOLT THE MOUNT TO THE FRAME USING 1/2 X 1 1/2 BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND WASHERS. USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE.
35. BAG #6 INSTALL STEERING STABILIZER USING 3/8 x 2½ BOLT, WASHER AND LOCKNUT INTO THE MOUNT INSTALLED EARLIER AND A 1/2" X 3" BOLT, (2) 1/2" WASHERS, A 1/2" LOCKNUT AND CRUSH SLEEVE #51792 ON THE CENTERLINK END. 36. BAG #7 INSTALL STRUT BARS, BOLT THE FRONT TO THE SUBFRAME USING 9/16 x 3½ BOLTS, NUTS AND WASHERS. BOLT THE REAR OF THE STRUT BARS TO THE CROSSMEMBER USING 2 STRUT BAR NUT HANDLES (SLIDE THEM INTO THE CROSSMEMBER AND LINE THEM UP WITH THE HOLE) AND ½ X 1 ½ BOLTS. YOU MAY NEED TO RUN A DRILL BIT THROUGH THESE HOLES TO OPEN THEM UP FOR THE BOLT TO SLIDE THROUGH EASILY. 37. BAG#8 BOLT BUMP-STOPS (PART # 6001) INTO BUMPSTOP DROOPSTOP MOUNTS WITH SUPPLIED 3/8" NYLOCK NUTS AND WASHERS (BUMP-STOPS ARE THE LARGE ONES), BOLT DROOP STOPS (PART # 6052) INTO PLACE WITH 3/8 NYLOCK NUTS AND WASHERS. 38. BAG #9 INSTALL REAR UCA COVER PLATE USING 9/16 x 3½ BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND WASHERS THESE BOLTS SHOULD FACE FRONT TO REAR. 39. INSTALL THE FRONT UCA DROP MOUNTS. THESE MOUNTS BOLT TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE OEM FRONT UCA MOUNT. THE CRUSH SLEEVES (4C-151) GO INSIDE OF THE MOUNT TO KEEP THE FRAME FROM BENDING. THE UCA DROP BRACKET WITH THE 2 TUBES WELDED TO IT GOES ON THE FRONT. BOLT THE TOP TOGETHER USING THE 9/16 x 4 BOLTS, WASHERS, LOCKNUTS. BOLT THE BOTTOM TOGETHER USING ½ x 3½ BOLTS, WASHERS, AND LOCKNUTS. THE UPPER DIFF MOUNT GETS BOLTED IN BETWEEN THE 2 PIECES OF THE UCA DROP MOUNT. IF MOUNTING HOLES DO NOT LINE UP, YOU CAN KNOCK OUT OEM ¼ ALIGNMENT PINS.USE THE PICTURE BELOW FOR REFERENCE. IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A 2WD KIT YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF USING THE 4WD UPPER DIFF MOUNT TO CONNECT THE FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARM BRACKETS TOGETHER, OR YOU CAN USE THE OPTIONAL 2WD CROSSBAR, THAT IS AVAILABLE FROM CST. (THE 2WD CROSSBAR FUNCTIONS THE SAME AS THE 4WD UPPER DIFF MOUNT, BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE THE TABS HANGING DOWN.) 40. PLACE UCA INTO DROP BRACKETS AND SECURE USING OEM ALIGNMENT CAM BOLTS. INSTALL FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE. REPLACE OEM NUTS AND HAND TIGHTEN. NOW ALL BOLTS AND LOCKNUTS FROM BAG 9 CAN BE TORQUED. 41. LIFT LCA INTO CROSSMEMBER PIVOTS AND INSTALL OEM BOLTS, WASHERS AND NUTS POINTING TOWARD REAR OF TRUCK (USE LOCKTITE). ALL UCA AND LCA PIVOT BOLTS SHOULD BE TORQUED WHEN SUSPENSION IS AT RIDE HEIGHT.
42. USING OEM BOLTS WITH LOCKTITE REINSTALL CV DRIVE FLANGE TO FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FLANGE AND TORQUE ALL BOLTS. 43. USING LOCKTITE, SCREW OEM TIE-RODS INTO NEW CENTER LINK AND TIGHTEN. INSERT TAPERED END INTO SPINDLE AND LOCKTITE OEM NUT THEN TORQUE TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. GREASE ZERK FITTINGS IN STEERING CENTERLINK. 44. INSTALL NEW ANTI-SWAY BAR LINKS. 45. INSTALL OEM PLASTIC SKIDPLATE IN FRONT WITH FIVE OEM BOLTS IN FACTORY LOCATION. 46. BAG #10 REMOVE THE RUBBER MOUNTS FROM THE OEM SKIDPLATE. INSTALL ON TRUCK USING NEW ½ x 1 BOLTS WITH 2 WASHERS ON SKIDPLATE SIDE IN REAR HOLES. USING LOWER CROSSMEMBER AS A GUIDE, MARK THE DRIVERS FRONT HOLE AND DRILL (½ ). AFTER REINSTALLING SKIDPLATE, USE 7/16 x 1½ BOLTS, WASHERS AND LOCKNUTS AND TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS. 47. INSTALL BRAKE CALIPERS. BRAKE LINES SHOULD RUN UNDER UCA AND THEN OVER TOP OF SPINDLE. LOCKTITE CALIPER BOLTS AND TORQUE. REINSTALL BRAKE LINE BRACKETS TO TOP OF SPINDLE UPRIGHT. REMOVE BRACKET THAT HOLDS BRAKE LINE TO UCA, IT WILL NOT BE USED. REMOVE BOLTS THAT HOLD BRAKE LINE TO FRAME. LOWER BRACKET SO THERE IS ENOUGH SLACK IN LINES. TURN STEERING BOTH WAYS MAKING SURE THERE IS ENOUGH SLACK AND THE LINES DO NOT RUB ON ANYTHING. 48. INSTALL ANTI-LOCK SENSOR WIRES MAKING SURE WIRES ARE IN SAFE LOCATIONS. ZIP-TIE AS NECESSARY. 49. REMOVE THE NUTS FROM THE TORSION CROSSMEMBER. INSTALL TORSION BARS INTO LOWER ARMS AND TORSION CROSSMEMBER, RAISE FACTORY TORSION CROSSMEMBER INTO PLACE. USING LOCKTITE, INSTALL OEM BOLTS AND TORQUE TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. TIGHTEN ALL HARDWARE HOLDING THE TORSION CROSSMEMBER AND CROSSMEMBER MOUNTS TO THE FRAME. TIGHTEN ADJUSTER BOLTS TO DESIRED RIDE HEIGHT. (MAKE SURE TORSION BARS ARE ON CORRECT SIDE OF TRUCK - THEY ARE STAMPED ON THE ENDS.) IF NECESSARY ADJUST THE SIDE PLATES SO THEY ARE EVEN WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME. 50. (4WD ONLY) - INSTALL NEW DRIVESHAFT. INSTALL RUBBER BOOT FROM OEM DRIVESHAFT TO NEW DRIVESHAFT. USE OEM BOLTS AND TIGHTEN WITH LOCKTITE. REINSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WIRES AND PLACE IN OEM CLIPS. RECONNECT VENT LINE. 51. INSTALL UPPER SHOCK BRACKET USING SUPPLIED 5/8 X 1 1/2 BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND LARGE 5/8 WASHERS. PUT THE LARGE WASHER ON THE TOP OF THE FRAME, THE SHOCK MOUNT GOES UNDERNEATH AND POINTS TOWARDS THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK. INSTALL THE SHOCKS USING OEM HARDWARE ON THE BOTTOM AND SUPPLIED 1/2 X 3 BOLTS, LOCKNUTS AND WASHERS ON THE TOP. 52. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS AND TIRES, TURN BOTH WAYS AND MAKE SURE THE WHEELS DON T RUB ON ANY BRAKELINES OR ANTILOCK SENSOR WIRES. 53. MAKE SURE ALL FASTENERS ON THE KIT ARE TIGHT. 54. INSTALL REAR KIT AS FOLLOWS:
INSTALLATION OF SPRING SPACERS, TRACK BAR AND REAR SHOCKS BAG #11 1. PLACE JACK UNDER REAR DIFF HOUSING. REMOVE OEM SHOCKS (WILL REUSE BOLTS AND NUTS). REMOVE ANTI-SWAY BAR LINKS FROM TRUCK. REMOVE TRACK BAR BOLT FROM LEFT SIDE WHERE IT BOLTS TO REAR DIFF HOUSING (BOLT AND NUT WILL BE REUSED). 2. REMOVE PARK BRAKE CABLE BRACKET FROM RIGHT FRAME RAIL AND CLIP FROM TRACK BAR. REMOVE BRAKE LINE BLOCK FROM REAR COVER. 3. WITH JACK UNDER REAR HOUSING AT DROOP REMOVE LOWER BOLTS FROM BACK OF LOWER TRAILING ARMS (WILL REUSE BOLTS). LOWER REAR HOUSING TO REMOVE OEM COIL SPRING. 4. WELD NUT WASHERS FROM BAG #11 UP ONTO HOLE IN TOP OF OEM SPRING POCKET. BOLT COIL SPRING SPACERS INTO UPPER SPRING POCKET WITH (2) ½ x 2 BOLTS AND (2) WASHERS, PLACE OEM COIL SPRING INSULATORS IN PLACE AND REINSTALL OEM COIL SPRINGS. 5. REINSTALL BOLTS WITH LOCKTITE INTO LOWER TRAILING ARMS AND TIGHTEN AT RIDE HEIGHT. 6. INSTALL CST TRACK BAR LIFT BRACKET ONTO OEM MOUNT ON REAR HOUSING WITH (1) 9/16 x 3 ½ BOLT, (2) WASHERS, (1) LOCKNUT AND CRUSH SLEEVE. 7. DRILL 3/8 HOLE ON LEFT SIDE OF BRACKET AND INSTALL 3/8 x 1 BOLT, WASHERS AND LOCKNUT. TIGHTEN BOTH AT THIS TIME. INSTALL TRACK BAR IN TOP OF MOUNT USING OEM BOLT AND NUT AND TIGHTEN. 8. JACK UP REAR HOUSING AND INSTALL NEW SHOCKS 9. INSTALL NEW REAR SWAYBAR LINKS USING OEM HARDWARE. REINSTALL ALL BRAKE LINE BRACKETS. 10. LUBE AT ALL GREASE FITTINGS. 11. INSTALL TIRES AND WHEELS, TORQUE LUGS TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. 12. LOWER TRUCK ONTO THE GROUND AND ALIGN. 13. RETORQUE NUTS, BOLTS AND WHEEL LUGS AFTER 500 MILES. HAVE ALIGNMENT CHECKED AFTER 1000 MILES.
