The Smart Room Control Solution Distech Controls Smart Room Control solution is an end-to-end system for the control of HVAC room terminal equipment, Lighting, and Sunblind, achieving the highest levels of comfort for occupants while increasing operating cost savings, from installation time and wiring/material requirements to energy consumption. It is a unique, modular solution designed for local or room applications, such as offices, hotel rooms, patient rooms, dorms, military housing, etc. The Smart Room Control solution is: An extended BACnet or LONWORKS HVAC Controller for terminal equipment applications with built-in features and logic for Lighting and Shades/Sunblind Control ECL and ECB-VAV or ECL and ECB-PTU Series Lighting and Shades/Sunblind expansion modules to control lights (ON/OFF, dimming and now DALI) and shades/sunblinds (up/down and angle rotation) - ECx-Light and ECx-Blind Series A multi-sensor combining motion and luminosity (Lux) sensors and equipped with a wireless receiver for the personal remote control - EC-Multi-Sensor Series A Room Sensor using 4 integrated sensors for temperature, humidity, CO2, and motion EC-Smart-Vue Series A wireless (infrared) personal remote control for increased occupant comfort EC-Remote Series A free mobile app that allows occupants to view or set comfort parameters at all times from a mobile device Smart-Sense Room Control app KEY BENEFITS End-to-End Solution Simplifies design, installation and integration of multi-application systems including HVAC room terminal equipment, Lighting, and Sunblind control Easy to Configure The 3 functions (HVAC, Lighting, and Sunblind) can be configured through one seamless interface - no additional discovery, bindings, or commissioning required Can be fully customized through EC-gfxProgram to meet the most advanced energy efficient application requirements Reduce configuration time with gfxapplications, projects and code examples Lowest Total Installed Cost The Lighting and Sunblind expansion modules are connected to the extended HVAC controller on a subnetwork and can easily be installed near the equipment they control, reducing wiring and installation costs The expansion modules do not require additional nodes on BACnet/LONWORKS networks Motion and Luminosity sensing information are shared across all 3 functions, providing optimal performance with only one sensor to install and configure Energy Savings Delivered Integrated solution designed to deliver the greatest energy savings possible using occupancybased control strategies and daylight harvesting 2
Now with DALI! Unique Solution Providing Unique Savings! Distech Controls is pleased to announce that the new ECx-Light-4DALI module is now available to order! Distech Controls programmable Smart Room Control solution combining HVAC, Lighting and Sunblind control, now features unique DALI management capabilities with the new ECx-Light-4DALI expansion module. The ECx-Light-4DALI is compatible with the existing HVAC programmable terminal unit controllers, the LONWORKS & BACnet PTU Series and VAV controllers, delivering DALI lighting control as part of the Smart Room Control solution or as part of a programmable lighting control solution. The ECx-Light-4DALI modules will be available to ship in October 2014. What is DALI? DALI, Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is an open digital lighting standard offering lower cost and interoperability. The DALI technology specifies address and group parameters for each ballast, requiring onsite configuration. Get the DALI Benefits Without the Constraints! The ECx-Light-4DALI module delivers unique features including: Unique DALI broadcast technology, eliminating the need for ballast addressing and DALI bus configuration Lamp Failure detection feature on the BMS system facilitating maintenance Integrated DALI Power Supply: simplified wiring and installation cost savings Increase energy savings when all commands are at 0% - during the night for example (approximately 1W saved per ballast): - the relay controlling the power supply to the DALI ballast is turned off - the DALI ballasts are shut down completely Additional Key Features Commissioning Save installation cost and time: - unique 5 PIN quick-link connector per output (-WD version) - direct installation into the ceilings (-WD version or -ST version with strain relief and terminal cover) 4 integrated digital inputs to interface with standard hardware switches, push buttons, window contacts Easy retrofit/project switching from dimming to DALI configuration as the same network interface and wiring is used for ECx-Light-4D (dimming) and ECx-Light-4DALI 3
Energy Savings Run Hours counting for each output estimating the ballasts consumption to comply with RT2012 standards and to plan lamp replacement Occupants safety Occupant safety guaranteed thanks to the integrated fail-safe mode in case of communication or power failure Key Benefits For Specifiers For Installers For Facilities Managers For Building Occupants Easy configuration & reconfiguration All-in-one system: Simple interface with BMS Increased energy savings (run hours counting for each output) No commissioning Cost-effective (installation time and cable length savings) Easy retrofit/project switching from dimming to DALI Lamp failure report on the BMS system Central monitoring on the BMS system (run hour counting, status, etc.) Increased energy savings due to dimming and control capabilities Personalised lighting preferences & control Comfortable lighting by adjusting artificial lights levels according to natural light Did you know? You can easily switch from an on/off or dimming configuration to a DALI lighting control solution as modern installations requiring dimming control are more and more equipped with DALI ballasts. Advantages of the ECx-Light-4DALI Lamp Failure detection facilitating diagnostic and maintenance Same pricing as Distech Controls dimming expansion modules Easier installation: unique 5-PIN quick connectorper output including power supply and DALI bus: 4
