Hot stamping method Advanced high-strength steels are used in key body areas to maximise strength. Since the steel is so hard, it must first be pre-heated to 900 C before stamping. This Hyundai innovation offers more protection to the driver and passengers in the event of a collision. WHEN IT COMES TO i40 THERE IS NO ROOM FOR DOUBT Advanced high-strength steel adds an additional degree of safety. Safety is further enhanced by sophisticated airbag technology and specially constructed crumple zones that absorb energy upon impact to minimise injuries in the event of a collision. All of this, combined with the rigidity of laser seam-welded joints helps diminish the impact of an unavoidable event. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) continuously monitors vehicle directional stability and tyre traction. If the system senses the car is about to skid and risks spinning out of control, ESP automatically applies the brakes to individual wheels as needed to keep the vehicle headed in the right direction. 9-airbag system (Premium models) With up to 9 airbags, including both driver and passenger airbags, 2 side curtain airbags and 2 front thorax-pelvis side airbags and 2 rear thorax side airbags at the outboard seating positions, plus a driver's knee airbag.
