Solid Waste Equipment Operator III Town of Merrimack The Solid Waste Equipment Operator III operates, as a regular assignment, an over the road tractor-trailer unit with a 100 cy live floor trailer, and/or loader in processing municipal solid waste (MSW) and other waste products without any direct supervision. Thorough knowledge of and skill in the operation, maintenance, and use of specialized heavy equipment including the operation of such equipment over rough, icy, and unstable surfaces is required. Minimum qualifications include HS diploma or GED and three years of experience in the operation of specialized heavy equipment; possession of a valid Commercial Driver s License (CDL-A). Solid Waste Operator Level 1 Attendant Certificate, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Normal hours are Tues. Sat. 8am 4pm with additional evening hours possible during summer. POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Equipment Operator III Transfer Station NATURE OF WORK: TOWN OF MERRIMACK, NH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS SOLID WASTE DIVISION Skilled operation of heavy equipment used in transfer station operations working alone or with minimal supervision. Works under the general supervision of a superior who assigns specific work to be performed; work is carried out with considerable independence and judgment to reach desired result; work may be reviewed through observation, conferences and results obtained. When assignment dictates, provides general supervision as lead worker to small crew of laborers and truck drivers; or directs trucks and other vehicles to proper areas in transfer station area while still responsible for operating own equipment.
