C STERS When choosing casters, users frequently look at the capacity ratings to help them through the selection process. Typically, caster ratings are based on stationary loads or loads that are moved by hand. In most manual applications, these ratings are adequate. However, when casters are mounted on equipment that is towed or moved mechanically, they are subjected to forces and stress that greatly exceed conventional load ratings. When being towed, casters are subjected to high speeds, sharp turns and skidding. In addition, obstacles such as expansion joints, potholes and thresholds can make short work of a conventional riveted caster. t Nutting our roots are deeply embedded in the design and manufacture of towable carts. We understand the rigors of the workplace and the impact they can have on equipment. To accommodate the most demanding operating environments, we have developed a complete line of Trailer Duty casters that offer superior performance and greater durability than typical industrial use casters. Three key elements contribute to the strength of our casters: HOT FORGED CONSTRUCTION: Most Industrial Duty casters are cold stamped from steel coil. Our Trailer Duty caster plates are hot forged from high-grade metal billets, creating parts that are far superior. KING OLTS: Many conventional caster manufacturers use mild steel rivets to hold the swivel plates and raceways together. However, in powered applications, soft rivets can stretch and break resulting in premature wear and irreversible caster failure. Nutting Trailer Duty casters use Grade Five bolts to hold the swivel plates together. The shear and tensile strength of these bolts far surpass that of a simple rivet. SWIVEL RDIUS: Have you ever noticed how the wheels of a shopping cart shimmy and wobble when you push it too fast? ecause of the speed that trailers are towed, the same thing can happen with conventional casters. To help overcome this problem, we have increased the offset or swivel radius. This provides a quieter, smoother ride and extends the life of the caster. 7
