SAFTEY PRECAUTIONS CAUTION: WHEN MACHINE IS IN USE, KEEP AWAY FROM THE AUGER, SLINGER FINGERS AND PTO SHAFT. Keep away from people and vehicles when spreading material. Anything that is put in the hopper and then discharged will be slung at high velocity. GETTING STARTED 1. Loading the Spreader: We recommend engaging the PTO on the tractor before loading the hopper with material. As you add materials, it mixes with the PTO running. This also saves on your tractor PTO clutch as frequent on and off is wearing on the internal clutch. Agriculture lime can pack and become like concrete if not agitated. To prevent this, run your PTO while loading and never let your machine sit for long periods with lime in the hopper. It can set up hard and damage your equipment. BE SURE NOT TO ADD MATERIALS SUCH AS ROCK AS THEY CAN BE SLUNG AT HIGH VELOCITY. 2. Adjusting the Slingers: The slinger fingers can be moved forward or backward to sling more to right or left. To adjust the throw for more to the right, remove stainless front bolts and push the slinger back. To adjust the throw for more to the left, pull forward for more left sling. An extra guard can be added to left or right to achieve a total left or right sling as an option. 3. Calibrating your Spreader 1. Pick a tractor gear and engine RPM that you are comfortable with. 2. Place a small amount of material you wish to spread in the hopper; say 100 lb. of wet ag lime. 3. Engage the PTO and take off in a straight line till empty, with discharge gate about 2/3 open. 4. Measure the distance traveled X 75% of the width. Why 75%? A spreader works like a sprinkler. The outer most reach of the spread is less material than those areas close to spreader, thus requiring about a 5ft overlap on your next pass with lime. For Example: Say you went 75 feet till empty X 30 ft. wide = 2250 square feet covered. 100 lb. wet lime X 43,560 ft. sq. [1 acre] = 4,356,000 divided by 2250 ft. sq. = 1936 lb. lime being spread per acre or about 1 ton/acre. 2

6. Now make a mark on your opener gauge at the opening used for 1 ton of lime per acre. 7. Repeat this process for any material you wish to mix and spread in your spreader. 4. PTO Installation: Here is how to cut your PTO shaft to fit your spreader and tractor properly: 1. Hook up your spreader to your tractor 2. Move the lift arm up and down, and the top link in and out until you find the position that puts the PTO spline shaft on your tractor and the PTO spline shaft on the spreader as close together as possible. 3. Slide one end of the PTO shaft on the tractor and the other end on the spreader. Do not couple the male and female parts together. Lay them beside each other. 4. Take a marker and mark the male and female parts of the shaft 1/2-inch short of bottoming out. Cut off excess length of male and female parts to prevent them from jamming together. If they ever jam together, or there is not enough grease inside, it will seize up. In the event of the PTO shaft being too long or if it seizes up, you will bend something on the spreader or your tractor or both. The weight of the material in your hopper will cause something to bend or break. Caution: PTO shafts are not designed to run at a steep angle. When the spreader is in the correct position, the shaft should be straight or near straight with the tractor and spreader itself. If you drop your spreader down or raise your spreader up, be sure the PTO shaft joints are not going to bind. The PTO must be disengaged if the u-joints are at a steep angle. Be sure to keep the universal joints of the PTO shaft greased. Be sure to keep the male and female parts greased. Reminder: Do not cut the PTO shaft too long. Make sure it will not jam when running. Do not run the PTO at steep angles. Make sure the universal joints are not in a bind before running the PTO. ACCESSORIES Remote control opening for the gate is available upon request. Optional equipment to operate the spreader in a truck is available. Different size hoppers are available upon request. A rock guard, left spread guard, and band attachment are also available upon request. 3

MAINTANENCE 1. Cleaning: A thorough cleaning of your spreader is required each time you use it and before it is stored. After cleaning, drying, and greasing your machine, look for any chipped or missing paint. Take any good spray oil and apply oil to ANY BARE METAL to prevent rust. Do not oil the stainless parts or the V belts. 2. Greasing: The best time to grease your machine is after it has been cleaned and dried. This forces any water that may have gotten in a pivot or bushing out. We recommend greasing your spreader while it is running. This can be done safely by using the grease fitting banks that are located on both sides of the machine. The daily bank of fittings will grease the pivot points and bushings. The weekly grease fittings grease the bearings that are sealed. CAUTION: Be sure to only use 2 or 3 shots of grease on the bearings or you may blow out your bearing seals that could lead to bearing failure. There are 2 grease fittings on the PTO shaft that can only be greased while the tractor is shut off as well as applying grease to the male and female parts of the PTO shaft 3. Storage: Store your spreader after the cleaning and greasing and it is ready to work the next time you need it. 4
