1. (a) Terangkan ujian sifat minyak mentah seperti di bawah. Describe the crude oil property test as below. SCES2324/SID2007 Titik pengaliran Pour point API Graviti API Gravity Kandungan garam Salt content (6 markah/marks) Penyulingan merupakan teknik pemisahan yang paling biasa digunakan dan menggunakan banyak tenaga bagi keperluan penyejukan dan pemanasan di dalam proses penapisan minyak. Jelaskan proses penyulingan berdasarkan gambarajah berikut: Distillation is the most common separation technique and it consumes enormous amounts of energy, both in terms of cooling and heating requirements in oil refinery process. Describe the distillation process in the following figure: 2/7

(c) Apakah perbezaan di antara penyulingan atmosfera dan penyulingan vakum? What is the difference between atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation? (5 markah/marks) 2. What method is used to remove the impurities as below? Solvent extraction process is important to remove the undesirable components at intermediate refining stages or just before sending the product to storage. The octane rating of gasoline fuels or research octane number (RON) is a property related to the spontaneous ignition of unburned gases before the flame front and causes a high pressure. (a) Apakah perbezaan-perbezaan di antara minyak RON90, RON 95 dan RN 100? What are the differences between RON 90, RON 95 and RON 100 fuel? (6 markah/marks) Kenapakah bahan bakar yang mengandungi RON yang rendah menghasikan ketukan yang kuat? Why a fuel with a low RON produces a strong knock? (2 markah/marks) (c) Apakah perbezaan-perbezaan di antara petrol (gasoline) dan diesel? What are the differences between petrol (gasoline) and diesel? 5. Formaldehid dan MTBE (Methyl tert-butyl ether) dihasilkan daripada methanol. Formaldeyde and MTBE (Methyl tert-butyl ether) are produced from methanol. (a) Tuliskan persamaan tindak balas dan mangkin yang digunakan bagi penghasilan formaldehid dan MTBE. Write the chemical equations and catalyst used in the production of Formaldehyde and MTBE. (d) Tuliskan komponen A,B,C,D dan E di dalam susunan tindak balas bagi penghasilan MTBE menggunakan isobutana, propena dan metanol berdasarkan gambarajah berikut Write compound of A, B, C, D and E in the reaction sequence for the production of MTBE by using isobutane, propene and methanol in the following figure.
