The GWM Steed 5 Double Cab Following in the footsteps of its Steed predecessors, the Steed 5 Double Cab is here to demand its rightful place on South African roads. It brings a new refined design to the party, not to mention value-for-money standard features. It offers everything you d expect from a 4 x 2 and a 4 x 4 Double Cab and then some. You ll be forgiven for already planning your first stand-off against the desert, especially when you consider one of the best selling points of the Steed 5; its affordability. Now you can buy a sporty Double Cab and experience every inch of South Africa - in your brand new beast.
Rugged good looks, refined The Steed 5 looks good. End of story. From the revamped grille to its all masculine and toned contours, the Steed 5 is all robust perfection. But do not be fooled: this attractive boy handles a one-ton load with the greatest of ease. To help you secure your load, whether it s the weekend s camping or mountain biking gear, the Steed 5 comes with several tie-down points. Double insulation protects the load bin against even the heaviest load you can throw its way. Front and rear mud flaps on the 16-inch alloy wheels allow you to take on those muddy dirt roads.
Under the hood The Steed 5 Double Cab 4 x 2 or 4 x 4 is powered by a 2.4 4G69 petrol engine, 2.5 TCI diesel engine or the 2.0VGT 4D20 diesel engine. GWM s independently designed 4D20 diesel engine not only unleashes more power, fewer emissions and less noise, but also meets EURO 4 emission standards. The Steed 5 2.4 4G69 petrol reaches a maximum power output of 100 kw at 5 200 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 4 000 rpm. Its 2.5 TCI counterpart delivers a maximum power output of 80 kw at 3 400 rpm with a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1 800 to 2 600 rpm. The Steed 5 2.0VGT Double Cab also does not disappoint as far as performance is concerned, with a maximum power output of 110 kw at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 310 Nm at 1800 to 2800 rpm. A front-mounted intercooler, DELPHI fuel injection and 70 L fuel tank complete the picture.
Rough it in the height of luxury Gone are the days when double cabs meant less comfort. Your Steed 5 is kitted out with features that will make the kilometres of dirt roads fly by. Apart from air-conditioning, electric windows and electric exterior mirrors, you have the advantage of power steering for carefree handling, whilst a CD/MP3 player and steering mounted audio controls put control at your fingertips. Individual bucket seats provide extra comfort for the driver and passenger, whilst additional bolstering offers more back support.
Safety features As far as safety is concerned, the Steed 5 looks after your precious cargo with ABS and EBD, dual front airbags and front fog lamps. Remote central locking is another standard feature.
