AN ISO 9001 COMPANY Barrel Pump BP - 10 Operation & Maintenance Guide Sheet 1 of 5
Barrel Pump BP-10 Operation & Maintenance Guide OPERATION: Barrel Pump is designed to pump light viscous oil like engine oil, machine oil etc. Do not use this pump with combustible substances like gasoline, lamp oil etc. Follow the instructions mentioned here to enhance the life and performance of your Barrel Pump.. DAILY BEFORE OPERATING: Blow out any dirt or accumulated moisture from the supply hose line. SUPPLY AIR QUALITY: Ensure that suitable filter regulator - lubricator. Unit (FRL) is fitted on the supply line as close to pump inlet as operation will allow. Keep the lubricator bowl topped up with pneumatic tool oil. Drain the moisture from bowl as required. Please maintain supply air pressure of the pump under 7kg/cm2 by using an air regulator. Excessive pressure supply will not improve performance and will cause severe strain on the moving parts. Keep hoses in good condition. Check hoses for wear at regular intervals. Check hose fittings are secure, accidental disconnection while hose is pressurized may cause the hose to whip and can cause serious injury. Air supply line should have a control valve to open and shut off the air supply. PUMP INSTALLATION: Separate the barrel cap from the pump, screw on to the barrel inlet thread. Slip the pump through the barrel cap and into the barrel. Lower end of the pump should be about 3cm above the bottom of barrel. Tighten the barrel clamp screw to fix the pump. SUPPLY AIR QUALITY: Do not over tighten the screw as this may damage the barrel. Connect the air supply hose. Connect the oil delivery hose. This hose should be able to handle oils without reaction and handle pressure of about 10 kg/cm2 comfortably. Open air supply valve and run at reduced pressure 7 kg/cm2 can be applied. It is recommended to assemble a valve on the oil delivery hose.the pump is best control red by manipulating this valve. If the valve is completely shut, the pump will stop pumping and will pump progressively as the valve is opened progressively. MAINTENANCE: A regular maintenance schedule will greatly add to the durability of the pump. After every 500 hours of operation we recommended that the pump be opened up and worn parts replaced if necessary. Disconnect the air supply to the pump. Remove the pump from the barrel and press the lock plate(41) and unscrew bottom cap (42) from barrel pipe (38). Drain out remaining oil from barrel pipe (38). Examine parts lock plate (41), bush (40) if worn proceed to unscrew Hex bolt (43) and remove lock plate (41), lock nut (39). Replace worn parts as necessary. Fix the piston housing (26) and using a pipe wrench on the knurled part of the barrel pipe (38) and remove it. Remove the lock pin (22) form the connecting shaft (29) and remove the piston rod (21). Remove the connecting shaft (29), oil piston (32) from the barrel pipe (38). Unscrew nylock nut (35) and slide out washer (34), oil piston (32), seal (31) and washer (30) remove O Ring from the oil Piston (32) and washer (30) nut from connecting shaft (29). Inspect closely for signs of wear especially on seal (31). Replace all worn components. Hold the piston housing (26) and assembled parts. Hold the piston rod (21) in a soft jaw vice and unscrew the three screw (10). Remove the washer (11), upper plate (12) and air seal (14). Now the piston (15) can be unscrewed from the piston rod (21) and once this is done the rest plate (19), spring (18) and lower plate (17) can be dismantled. Remove seal (16) from piston (15) and inspect for wear especially seal (16). Similarly hold the cylinder cap (08) very gently in soft jaw vice and unscrew the three screws (01). Remove exhaust shield spacer (04) and washer (05), slide out tube (06) and O ring (07) from cylinder cap (08). Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary. RE - ASSEMBLY: During assembly first clean all parts and cover with light grease. Please pay attention to the assembly of certain components. Such as 1. Upper plate (12) and lower plate (17) must to be assembled in the correct direction. 2. Seal (16) and seal (31) must to be assembled in correct direction. Check that the Y portion of seal (16) is facing downwards i. e. towards the bottom of to the pump. And the Y in seal (31) is facing upwards towards the top of the pump. Carefully re - assemble the pump in the reverse sequence of dis - assembly and install again as mentioned above. Sheet 2 of 5
