Template application and drilling operation. Take care not to drill into HVC duct Install dash attachment plate (D) and mount Install wire tap base (G) NOTE This is a universal installation kit so all parts may not be used. 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: 1) pply the parking brake. 2) Record the customer radio presets. Preset 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 B C D 3) Make sure the shift lever is engaged in the P position and the parking brake is ON. 4) Turn the ignition switch OFF. 5) Open the engine hood. 6) Disconnect the battery negative terminal. CUTION Use caution when removing/re-installing interior components to avoid damage, scratches, or breaking of mounting clips. Fig. 1a 8) Remove the steering column upper cover. a) Release steering column lock handle. b) Move steering column to lower-most position. c) Lock steering column using lock handle. d) Remove the steering column cover screws (). 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: Fig. 2a 9) Remove cluster lid. a) Disengage the metal clips. Fig 2a b) Remove cluster lid. Fig 2b :Metal clip Fig. 2b 1 Fig. 3 10) Remove the combination meter cluster. a) Remove the combination meter screws. b) Pull out the combination meter (1), disconnect the connector and remove the combination meter. c) Protect the combination meter (1) with a soft cloth and put in protected place. 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: Fig. 4 11) Drill mounting holes. Fig. 4 a) Install Sentra mounting template (B) to dash using masking tape. Note: Set positive drill stop to a depth of 10mm ± 3mm to avoid drilling into the HVC duct. b) Drill 5-5/32 (4mm) holes (4 + 1 pilot hole center). c) Drill 1-3/4 (19mm) hole (in the center location). d) Remove mounting template from dash. D C Fig. 5 12) Secure dash attachment plate to dash (graphics are for reference only). a) lign dash attachment plate (D) Fig. 5 with nutplate (E) under the dash. Fig. 5 Note: Ensure triangle on the dash attachment plate (D) faces towards the rear of the vehicle (Fig. 5a) and the nuts on the nutplate (E) are facing away from the dash (Fig. 5b). 1.13 N-m E b) Secure using 4-3 10mm fasteners (C). Installing the front screws first aligns the rear screws easing installation. c) Torque fasteners to 10 in-lb (1.13 N-m). 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: Cable ties Tape ground wire Fig. 6 Ground location 13) Route wire harness and secure ground wire. a) Route connector through dash behind bracket. Fig. 6 b) Route connector through the nutplate and attachment plate. Fig. 6a c) Secure the ground wire in the 9 o clock position. Fig.6 d) Tape the ground wire to the fuse holder with electrical tape >= 2 revolutions. e) Complete by securing accessory harness and vehicle harness with cable ties in three locations. Fig. 6 NOTE: Do not overtighten the cable tie. Overtightening the cable tie may damage the wire. Fig. 6a G Fig. 7 14) ttach wire harness () to mount base (graphics are for reference only). 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: F G Point towards rear of vehicle Fig.8 15) ttach mount base (G) to dash attachment plate (graphics are for reference only). Fig. 8 a) Ensure release button is facing towards rear of the vehicle before securing base. b) Secure mount base (G) to dash attachment plate using three 3 9mm screws. Ensure rubber skirt is flared out and not pinched or folded under. c) Torque screws to.56 N-m (4.9 in-lb). DO NOT OVER-TORQUE..56 N-m Fig. 9 16) ttach arm assembly (H) to mount base (graphics are for reference only). Fig. 9 a) lign and press arm assembly firmly into the base (three retaining tabs). H Fig. 10 17) Secure gray end of wire tap (I) to pin 2 (pink wire - reference only). See steps 18-23 for wire tap installation instructions. 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: b) Fig. 11 18) Tap vehicle wire. Fig. 11 a) Remove cap (slot side) from tap body. b) Slide cap around vehicle wire. c) Tighten the tap TIGHT with finger pressure. a) c) NOTE: Do not re-use the tap for subsequent re-installation. Fig. 12 19) Inspect the tap to ensure correct installation. Fig. 12 NOTE: void putting pressure on the vehicle wire and tap for the rest of the installation. i. Straight and evenly spaced all the way around. ii. Tight and minimize gap (wire jacket should be crushed). e) Insert wire to here a) Fig. 13 20) Tap red wire from housing harness. Fig. 13 a) Remove tap (non-pierce) side from tap. c) b) Remove protective stub from red wire. c) Insert red wire through the non-pierce side opening. d) Spread the individual strands into fan shape. e) Insert wire into the tap body and ensure that it is all the way in. f) Tighten the tap TIGHT with finger pressure. Fig. 14 21) Confirm installation of the tapped accessory wire. Fig. 14 a) Inspect the tap to ensure correct installation. b) Using a multimeter, check for 12 volts on the accessory wire. i. Straight and evenly spaced all around ii. Tight and no gap iii. Test the signal NOTE: void putting pressure on the vehicle wire and tap for the rest of the installation. Fig. 15 a) Secure the body to harness where vehicle wire is being tapped with electrical tape ( 2 revolutions). b) Secure the tapped wire on the non-pierce side to the body of the posi-tap with electrical tape. 7. INSTLLTION PROCEDURE: Fig. 18 24) Reinstall upper steering column cover. Fig. 18 Fig. 19 25) Mount installation is complete. Install PND in the mount assembly. Fig. 19 a) Fit bottom of PND into the cradle by aligning the pins. Rotate the PND toward the front of the vehicle until it clicks into place. Do not remove warning label from PND. 8. CHECKLIST: Prior to completion, verify the following: (1) Connect the battery negative terminal. (2) Turn the vehicle ignition switch to the CC position and confirm the PND powers up. (3) Turn the vehicle ignition OFF and confirm the PND powers down within 5 seconds. Close the housing lid. (4) Confirm for proper audio operation M, FM, ST, TPE, and CD. (5) Clean the interior of the vehicle. (6) Inspect the vehicle interior and exterior for damage. (7) Confirm the proper operation of vehicle systems. (8) Reset radio presets to the recorded settings. (9) Place the PND Owner s Manual, Quick Start Manual, and accessories in the glove box. (10) If equipped, verify proper sunroof operation and perform the reset procedure, if necessary. Refer to Service Manual requirements. (11) Check the trim for a proper flush fit after re-installing the interior components. (12) Confirm proper operation of the arm assembly release button. Remove the arm assembly from the mount base then reinstall pressing arm assembly firmly into the base (three retaining tabs).
