FerroFinestra W20 Steel FerroFinestra W20 Elegant and Timeless - the bedrock of steel windows This series has its origins in the Universal Range, which was introduced for the first time in 1912 by the British company The Crittall Manufacturing Co. Ltd.. The Universal range consisted of three different ranges of profiles, identical in geometry and types, but different in their depth, that classified them into large, medium and small. Depending on the dimensions of the window, the most appropriate series was selected from a static point of view. These three ranges were able to cover any type of window and in combination with special T-profiles, used as mullions and transoms, for the first time it was also possible to realize curtain walls of any size. The currently available range was revised in 1964 and re-coded as W20. The three separate ranges were condensed to one medium range, which consisted of 20 profiles able to cover the needs of new windows as well as replace those in historic buildings. Over the decades, some profiles have been abandoned and some new ones have been added, making the range more and more versatile. The depth of the profiles 32 and 37 mm, allows to manufacture various types of openings in different styles, both with single glazing or double glazing with a maximum thickness of 21 mm. Even today, this series is still chosen for a great number of restoration projects worldwide, where the superintendence asks for the original design and proportions of the relevant epoch. W20 basic The basic style of the W20 range was inspired by the SMW (Standard Metal Windows) range, which was proposed on the market immediately after the First World War 1914-1918. In this revised version, the depth of the profiles has been increased by 7 mm to be able to accommodate glasses with higher thicknesses. Thanks to its simple and slender design, W20 s basic style expresses an unparalleled elegance, earning a permanent presence in projects looking for a minimalist design. In most cases this type of window is requested in combination with small T muntin bars of only 23 or 29 mm width to divide the glass in smaller panes, which replicate the typical industrial windows. W20 classic Originally, the W20 range had been developed for commercial and industrial applications. In recent decades, it has been rediscovered for contemporary residential architecture in milder climatic zones. The somatic marker of this classic suite is the stepped design of the flanges. This detail confers windows nice proportions and shadow lines and allows to achieve a glass pane planarity between fixed and operable windows. W20 slim A strong point of steel is the ability to be curved into any shape or geometric form and then to be transformed into a window. However, there is no quality more readily associated with steel windows and doors than narrow sightlines. For extremely slender requirements, the W20 range offers as well a slim casement line, which allows to further lighten the visual impact of the frames.

STEEL WINDOW CO. FerroFinestra W40 Steel FerroFinestra W40 The new generation of solid steel windows The classic W40 range is an evolution of the famous W20 range developed in 1964. Produced for the first time in 1995 it consists of 17 profiles and follows the unmistakable classic design of its predecessor. The strong point of this young series, is the increased profile depth, which allows to accommodate double glazing up to a thickness of 27mm. The W40 suite proposed by OTTOSTUMM is not only used in the field of restoration, but it s also highly acclaimed in contemporary architecture for its elegant and compact sightlines, ensuring safety and comfort thanks to its excellent thermal and acoustic performance. Despite the depth of this system is only of 42 respectively 47 mm, technically it is considered a heavy duty range, which allows making large windows thanks to the extraordinary strength of steel. Any kind of inward or outward openings: sidehung, double-vent (French style), bottom-hung, top-hung or projected top-hung, horizontally and vertically pivoted windows, as well as large sliding and folding doors.
