ANZI Transfer Switch and Generator Wiring Installation Addendum Reference all appropriate documentation. NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN CRITICAL LIFE SUPPORT APPLICATIONS. THIS PRODUCT CAN BE INSTALLED BY THE HOMEOWNER. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE SKILLS OR TOOLS REQUIRED, HAVE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR CONTRACTOR PERFORM THE INSTALLATION. DEADLY EXHAUST FUMES! OUTDOOR INSTALLATION ONLY! This addendum should remain with the unit.
Australian/New Zealand Wiring Instructions Ensure that site power is de-energized and that the generator is properly disabled before performing any of these installation steps! Follow all Safety and Warnings in Installation Manual! NOTE: Some wires have been removed from illustrations for clarity. Generator/Switch Wiring: Remove the generator controller fascia and locate the circuit breaker in the external connection box. The wires feeding into the back of the circuit breaker will be marked to indicate Active (Brown) and Neutral (Blue). See Figure 1. Figure 1 Remove the plastic breaker guard (if equipped), then the two screws that hold the breaker bracket as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2 2
Remove the breaker and breaker fascia from the external connection box (Figure 3). Figure 3 Remove the breaker fascia from the breaker to access the breaker lugs (Figure 4). Figure 4 3
Connect the neutral (Blue) to the side of the breaker opposite that of the marked Blue (wire 11) and connect the active (Brown) to the side of the breaker opposite that of the marked Brown (wire 44) wire. Torque the breaker lugs to 3.5 Nm maximum. Reinstall the breaker, plate and breaker cover guard. Reinstall the generator controller fascia (Figure 5). Figure 5 Connect your control wires (N1, N2, 23, 194, T1& T2) to the appropriate landings on the generator connection shelf. These wires can be run in the same conduit as the power wires if the proper insulation is used and it meets code (Figure 6). After mounting the switch, remove the cover to make the electrical connections (see Figure 7). Please note that if being used in an application to back up the entire electrical panel, this switch requires a disconnect be installed between the electrical meter and transfer switch since this is a non-service rated switch. Figure 7 Next, install a jumper wire between the provided Neutral block and Earth ground (Figure 8). NOTE: Use appropriate color codes for wiring. Figure 8 5
The installer will need to make a hole in the enclosure to run the incoming conductors from the utility disconnect through the transfer switch. Connect the earth ground (green/yellow) to the ground strip provided. Connect the Active (Hot) brown wire to the left top terminal contact of the transfer mechanism and connect the neutral blue wire to the top right terminal contact of the transfer mechanism. NOTE: It is important that the active and neutral wires are not installed in reverse positions (Figure 9). Active (Brown) Neutral (Blue) Earth Ground (Green/Yellow) Ground Strip Figure 9 The next activity will be to connect the generator fed conductors. Connect the generator fed earth (green/yellow) to the provided neutral connection block. Connect the Active (brown) to the top lug on the bottom of the of the transfer mechanism. Attach the Neutral (blue) wire to the neutral lug. Connect a neutral wire (blue) from the neutral lug to the top lug of the bottom of the transfer mechanism. Be sure to match Brown for Brown, and Blue for Blue in the correspoding lugs (Figure 10). Active (Brown) Neutral (Blue) Ground Strip Figure 10 Earth Ground (Green/Yellow) 6
The next step is to connect the wires that will feed the customer s load center or sub panel. Connect an earth (green/ yellow) wire on the provided ground terminal and route to the customer s electrical panel. Connect an Active (brown) and Neutral (blue) wire to the customer load terminals labeled T1 & T2 on the transfer mechanism. Be sure that the colors all match (Figure 11). Figure 11 Connect your control wires (N1, N2, 23, 194, T1 & T2) to the fuse block and connection strip (Figure 12). Figure 12 Proceed with the standard generator start up procedure to check operation, voltage and frequency. 7
