Instruction Manual for lack-panel Speed Meter & Electric Tachometer (for 27 front fork) Thank you for purchasing one of our TAKEGAWA s products. Please read this instruction manual carefully to have a deep understandingof the contents before installation. Item No. Please note that, in some cases, the illustrations and photos may vary from the actual hardware. Applicable tomonkey / Gorilla (12V) Frame Nos. Z50J-2000001 A27-1000001 For proper use and safety s sake efore fitting the products, please be sure to check the contents of the kit. Should you have any questions about the products, please kindly contact your dealer. This kit is designed for exclusive use in vehicles equipped with TAKEGAWA s 27 erect front fork kit or a bar-handle-type top bridge for a stock front fork, a headlight stay (our Item No. 09-03-007), and a general-purpose headlight kit (our Item No. 09-03-072 / 09-03-0770). Please take note that a stock headlight cannot be installed along with this kit. This kit is designed for exclusive use in 12V-battery vehicles; not compatible with 6V-battery vehicles. A spark plug shoud always be a resistor spark plug. And never use this kit together with any ignition-system part other than hyper CDI. Otherwise a tachometer will not work properly. Ignition system parts must always be the stock ones. If a stock high-tension cord, plug cap, ignition coil, and /or magneto coil for ignition are replaced with other types, a tachometer may not work properly. In case a long-type handle holder and a top bridge for a stock fork are used, socket cap screws need to be changed. Please purchase the following right ones separately. 10mm up-type Two socket cap screws (6 X 70 / thread length: over 25mm) 20mm up-type Two socket cap screws (6 X 80 / thread length: over 25mm) Top bridge for a stock fork Two socket cap screws (6 X 70 / thread length: over 25mm) The following show the envisioned possibility of injuries to human bodies and property loss as a result of disregarding the CAUTION following cautions. Work only when the engine and the muffler are cool (under 35 degrees Celsius). Otherwise, you will burn yourself. Prepare right tools for the work, and do the work in the proper and right way. Always use a torque wrench to screw bolts and nuts tight and securely to the specified torque. This kit does not come with a speed warning light, so be careful not to overspeed. Please try to ride a motorcycle at legal speed on the public road, for safety s sake. efore riding, always check every section for slack in parts like screws. esides, when you notice something abnormal with your motorcycle while riding down a road, stop riding immediately and park your motorcyle in a safe place. (Otherwise, the abnormaility could lead to an accident.) Please be informed that, mainly because of improvement in performance, design changes, and cost increase, the product specifications and prices are subject to change without prior notice. We shall be held free from any kind of warranty whatsoever of products other than this product if the glitch takes place on the other products than this one after the installation and use of this product. This manual should be retained for future reference. Features This is a meter kit with newly designed black meter panels. The speed meter, with the display range of up to 160 km / h (100 mph), includes an odometer and a trip meter, and the tachometer, with the display range of up to 14,000 rpm, is a highly-precise electric type. oth the speed meter and the tachometer have a translucent meter panel and two panel lamps each to improve the nighttime viewability. The meter body is made of stainless steel designed to attain high level of durability and, moreover, is rubber-mounted aimed at reducing the level of vibration. Or, A meter stay is so designed that an LED neutral and turn-indicator lamps, and a switch cover to protect a main switch can be installed.

Kit Contents Parts No.5 are attached to No. 4 cushion rubber.

Installation Procedures 1. Attach four cushion rubbers to a meter stay, and fit a collar (8.5 mm) into each cushion rubber. 2. Fit plain washers (5x18) onto the threaded part of an electric tachometer, and install the tachometer on the right side of the meter stay. Attach a 5x18 plain washer and hex nut from the back side of the cushion rubber, and tighten them to the specified torque Torque : 5 Nm(0.5 kgfm) 3. Fit plain washers (5x18) onto the threaded part of a speed meter, and install the speed meter onto the meter stay. As you did with a tachometer, attach a plain washer and hex nut from the back side of the cushion rubber, and tighten them to the specified torque Torque : 5 Nm(0.5 kgfm) 4. Attach an LED neutral indicator lamp and a turn indicator lamp onto the meter stay, and install and tighten spring was hers and nuts from the back side of the meter stay. 5. Install a combination switch cover with tapping screws so its notch will be located obliquely downward to the right. Remove a combination switch from the stock light case, and press the switch into the switch cover and hook the claw. (Pull out a combination switch from the light case by pressing two locking hooks inwards with a fine screwdriver or the like.) 6. Remove two socket cap screws on the fronf side of the handle holder to replace with kit s socket cap screws, which please fix and tighten to the specified torque. Torque : 12 Nm(1.2 kgfm) Attach the meter stay to the point where socket cap screws were just replaced on the back side of the top bridge, and install and tighten flange nuts to the specified torque. Torque : 12 Nm(1.2 kgfm) (If there is intereference between the meter and the headlight, or if proper clearance is not left between them, adjust the height by moving the headlight stay.) 7.Connect terminals of cords of the tachometer to the following wire harness cords of a color in the headlight case: brown, green and black. Run a black and yellow cord of the tachometer up to an ignition coil to connect them each other. Connect a red cord of the speedometer to a brown cord of the tachometer, and the black cord to the green one. 8.Connect a black cord of the LED neutral indicator lamp with a verdant green and red cord of the wire harness. And connect the red cord with a black cord of the tachometer. 9.Connect a red cord of the LED turn indicator lamp with a black sub cord, and connect a black cord to a gray cord of the wire harness, using an electro tap. Please see the figures below for how to connect the electro tap. 10. Connect a speed meter cable. Start the engine and check how each lamp lights and how the tachometer works. If no problem is found, drive the vehicle in a safe place at low speed to check the performance of the speed meter. (Place the black cord in the conduit until the cord tip hits the stopper.) Stopper LED turn-indicator-lamp black cord Fold back the tap at the arrow mark ) to temporarily fix the cords. NOTE Inspection of AC regulator: Please be sure to do the following before using this meter. Warm up the engine, and stop it. Connect an AC voltmeter to an AC regulator connector (+ to the white and yellow cord, and - to the green cord), and start the engine. NOTE: e careful of the wire short circuit or have the wires touch each other. Control voltage: 13 ~ 15 V/5,000 rpm If the controlled voltage is not within the specified value, check the connector for loose. Measure the voltage again, and if the controlled voltage is not within the limit even after this procedure, change the AC regulator. Examples: NGK CR8HSA Use this meter with a battery installed. (Otherwise, the tachometer itself will break down.) Run this meter only after checking that the AC regulator is functioning all right. (Otherwise, the tachometer may breakdown.) Please see the service manual for the inspection method. e sure to use a stock plug cord and plug cap. (Otherwise, the tachometer may malfunction in displaying or break down.) e sure to always use a resistor-type spark plug. (Otherwise, the tachometer may malfunction in displaying.) The needle jumps across the dial when speed is accelerated. In case the resistive resistor spark plug is not used, change the spark plug to the resistor type. In case the spark plug smolders because the spark plug heat value is not as per the above figure, or because the fuel is not controlled correctly, correct the heat value of the smoldering spark plug, or replace the plug with the thoroughly-cleaned spark plug or with a new one. In case the un-designated plug cord or plug cap is used, change each of them with the stock one. When the voltage is under voltage, recharge the battery or replace it with a new one. And in case the battery is functioning normally but the voltage is under voltage, check your motorcycle for malfunction. In case the rotating meter does not operate when the engine is started: In case the battery is removed, install back the battery. In case the voltage is under-voltage, recharge the battery or replace it with a new one. And in case the battery is functioning normally but the voltage is under voltage, check your motorcycle for malfunction. In case the non-stock generator is in use, change the parts with those for the stock generator. In case the needle position has changed: In case the needle moves from the new position. (Changed the position of the needle with a magnet.)
