The impeller and bowl type casing are designed to deliver the head and capacity that your system requires in the most efficient way possible. The fact that the vertical turbine pump can be multi-staged allows maximum flexibility both in the initial pump selection and in the event that future system modifications require a change in the pump rating. A variety of material options allows the selection of a pump best suited for even the most severe services. The many bowl assembly options available ensure that the vertical turbine pump satisfies the users needs for safe, efficient, reliable and maintenance-free operation. Standard Design Features: Suction Case - Allows smooth entry of liquid into first stage impeller eye, minimizes foundation opening. Suction Case Bearing - Provided for shaft stability. Sand Collar - Prevents solids from entering suction bearing. Impeller - Semi-open or enclosed for appropriate service. Pump Shaft - Heavy duty 416SS standard, other alloys available for strength and corrosion resistance. Flanged Bowls - Registered fits ensure positive alignment, ease of maintenance. Wear Rings - Available in variety of bronze materials. Duplex Type Bearing - Provided at each stage to assure stable operation. Collet Impellers - provide an interference fit between the bowl shaft and impeller to hold the impeller securely in place. Basket Strainer - Fabricated in stainless steel

Horizontal single stage, single volute, frame mounted centrifugal pump. The F-Series range is UL- Listed and designed to comply to NFPA 20 standard for firefighting applications. PERFORMANCE RANGE MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION PUMP CASING The casing is back pull-out design which mean that the internal components (rotating parts) can be inspected and replaced without having to remove the casing from the piping. The volute is made of fine- grain cast iron as per ASTM 48 specification equipped with integrated support feet. IMPELLER Enclosed, single suction type cast in one piece. The impeller is dynamically balanced to ISO1940 and hydraulically balanced through the thrust holes on impeller suction. The impeller is keyed to shaft and held in lateral position between the sleeve and the nut. WEARING RINGS The pump is fitted with renewable type casing and impeller wearing rings to maintain proper running clearance and to minimize the leakage between the suction and discharge chambers. SHAFT SEAL TWINNER SYSTEM sealing is made of soft-packed stuffing box with graphite impregnated rings. The gland is made of two halves that greatly facilitates the replacing operation of the soft packing without the need to disassemble any component. The stuffing box is fitted with lantern ring to improve the cooling and lubrication of the shaft.

Horizontal single stage, double suction, between bearing centrifugal pump. The Split-Case F-Series is a UL-Listed and designed to comply to NFPA 20 standard for firefighting applications. PERFORMANCE RANGE MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION PUMP CASING The casing is axially split design for easier assembly and disassembly, the design permits the inspection and replacement of internal components without having to remove the casing from the piping. The casing is made of fine-grain ductile iron equipped with integrated support feet. IMPELLER Enclosed, double suction type cast in one piece. The impeller is dynamically balanced to ISO1940 and hydraulically balanced through the double suction. The impeller is positively locked to the shaft by key. WEARING RINGS The pump is fitted with renewable type front and rear wearing rings to maintain proper running clearance between impeller s hubs. SHAFT SEAL Soft-packed stuffing box. Cooling lines are provided for additional cooling of the gland packing.

SMI gears are FM-APPROVED Right Angle Gear Drives. They are used to change the direction of rotation of the diesel engine fire / horizontal motor pump driver (horizontal shaft) in order to drive a vertical turbine pump (vertical shaft). The gears are housed in a cast iron housing filled with oil for lubrication and cooling. Spiral bevel gears of cast hardened alloy steel are designed according to AGMA 223.01 and shafts are designed according to ANSI-B58.1. Horizontal shafts are solid and vertical shafts are hollow. The gear drives have a non-reverse ratchet to prevent pump damage due to reverse rotation. PERFORMANCE RANGE

MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION HOUSING The housing is made of high quality fine-grains Cast Iron as per ASTM A48. The housing is filled with lubrication oil to facilitates the cooling of the gear sets while rotation. GEARS Gears are spiral bevel gears type, available in increasing or decreasing ratios. Gears are made of high strength steel precision machined for quiet and smooth operation and high torque transmission. Gears are designed to AGMA specifications with 1.5 service factor. SHAFTS Horizontal shaft is solid, vertical shaft is hollow, both shafts are designed to operate under high speed and transmit high torque. Shafts are made of high strength hardened steel for maximum performance. BEARINGS Large capacity thrust bearing are provided to handle wide range of pump equipment and heads of water. SMI RAGD are designed with TWO-WAY thrust bearings to handle the up-thrust and avoid equipment damage. The system is made of high quality UL/FM certified components to meet the firefighting standard requirements. Wiring, fittings and valves are assembled on house as per NFPA 20 specifications.
