STEP 1 - Disassemble Exit Device Remove head cover Remove mounting bracket. Head cover Bracket Remove (2) screws attaching bracket to baserail with 5/16 nut drive or flat head screw driver. D. Remove case for device. Case Screws Remove push pad by pulling pad guides up than moving push pad forward & then upward. Push pad Page 2
STEP 2 - Change out shock absorber Old Style **Note if you have the old style shock absorber (prior to Feb/Mar 2014) or the new style (after Nov 2014) you will skip step 2.*** New Style Now your device should have all finished parts removed. Activating arm Shock absorber housing Gently push up on shock absorber housing than push down on activating arm. Remove shock absorber & replace with shock absorber provided. Shock absorber Page 3
STEP 3- Removing Dogging *If you have a fire-rated device skip to step 4 Remove Cylinder by pulling up. Push tabs in & pull up on locking piece. Cylinder Tabs Locking piece Using Hammer & Pin Punch knock rivets out. D. Or drill rivets out using 3/16 drill bit. Rivets Using Pliers or Vise grips to attach onto flat part of dogging tail piece closest to where it connects to metal rod. F. Rotate towards than away from you until you hear the part snap than remove. Dogging tail If using a hacksaw cut here Page 4
STEP 4- Installing Kit Push Acme thread block onto metal rod. Push until block stop hits base of activating arm. Acme thread block Using Hex screw (I.) install into first hole on block using Allen wrench provided. Metal Rod Activating Arm Base Stop Using #30 drill bit provided, drill into metal rod using second hole as a bushing. D. Install Hex screw (J.) into second hole using Allen wrench. Second hole Slide Motor Bracket onto baseplate going into existing grooves in baseplate. F. While sliding motor bracket into position, feed acme thread into Turcite. Turcite Acme thread Page 5
STEP 4- Continued... G. Once bracket lines up with screw holes install (2) Phillips head screws (B) provided. H. Next plug in MM3 module to motor & if available power. We recommend to test unit. See last page for MM3 details Screw holes STEP 5 - Reassemble Exit Device Replace push pad by placing over Slide baseplate back into case being activating arms & pushing down than careful of motor wires. back towards end of the device Push pad Case Replace bracket & attach (2) screws with 5/16 nut drive or flat head screw driver. (this can be fully depressed or less than fully depressed). Step 2- While depressing the push pad, apply power. (i.e. presenting the credential to the reader). Step 3- Continue to keep pad depressed, the device will beep 6 times. After the beeps have stopped, release the pad and now the adjustment is complete. If not to your liking repeat the three steps. That s all there is to it. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Beeps Explanation Solution 2 Beeps Over Voltage Check voltage & adjust to 24 V. 3 Beeps 5 Beeps Under Voltage Forced Release Check voltage & adjust to 24 V. Device will automatically re-engage within 5 seconds. 6 Beeps 7 Beeps U.S. Customer Support 1-888-622-2377 Switch wires not making contact Over-travel or mechanical obstruction Check to make sure there are no loose wires or bad connections on MM3. After connection is repaired re-power & set adjustment. Remove obstruction & push pad down until beeping stops & release.
