Parcels M and M-1 (7 & 8) South Boston Parcels M-1/7 and M-1/8 and M along North Jetty, South Boston, MA: This site is well placed in the entrance reaches of Boston Harbor in the Ray Flynn Maritime District. It contains a 1,000-foot (305 m) long quayside that is operational but not in good condition. Its location across the Harbor from Logan International Airport imposes height restrictions onsite. It is thought that the site could be converted into an offshore wind logistics and O&M hub without significant modification, or the site could function as storage and laydown space to support other sites in Boston Harbor that might be better suited for manufacturing. While the acreage is limited, the site lies in the midst of other potential sites in Boston that could be considered for offshore wind, and a synergistic approach to use for multiple properties may be a successful combination. Innovation-based Solutions: Repair of the old wharf or install a new quayside/bulkhead; and Broader uses could be accommodated with ground improvement in addition to a new bulkhead and quayside at a larger investment.
