CONTROL FEATURES QAS-1514 Instructions 1. Key lock 2. Combination buttons 3. Reset button (inside safe) 4. Battery Compartment (inside safe) IMPORTANT Record your combination. Record the serial number from the tag on the door front. Keep keys and combination in a secure place away from children. 4 1 2 3 DO NOT STORE YOUR KEYS OR COMBINATION INSIDE THE SAFE. Hardware Included: (6) Lag screws Ø 6mm x 48mm Length (6) Washers (6) Plastic anchors Tools Required: Drill 10 mm Wrench 3/16 (5 mm) drill bit for drilling into wood

GETTING STARTED When you first receive your safe you will need to open the door with the key. A battery is included and is located in the top of the Styrofoam packaging. NOTE: This key has also been provided in case you lose or forget your security code or the batteries run low. If you lose your key, you may purchase a replacement key by referencing the serial number located on the front of the door. See the Key Request section regarding key replacement for further information. To open the safe, insert key into lock and turn counter clockwise until the holster compartment automatically opens. To access the battery compartment you will need to open the holster compartment completely. At the very back of the compartment you will see two L shaped brackets. Rotate the L brackets towards the top of the safe, so they are released from the guides Then squeeze the two brackets together so they almost meet - this will immediately release the compartment from the sides of the safe body. Let the holster compartment open all the way as shown in Figure 2. Rotate the L brackets back so they are flat against the back of the holster compartment. 1 INSTALLING THE BATTERY NOTE: When installing or changing the battery, always hold the battery connecting cap while disconnecting or attaching the battery. Do not pull on the wires. Doing this could cause the power supply to become disconnected from the lock. NOTE: Leave the key in the lock while you install the battery and set your combination. This safe uses one 9 V alkaline battery. Under normal use the battery will last about a year. NOTE: If the batteries are low the combination buttons will flash red when pushed. Replace the 9V battery with a new alkaline battery as described below. Locate the battery compartment at the very back of the top of the inside of the safe, slide off the battery cover. PROGRAMMING YOUR OWN ELECTRONIC COMBINATION For security you must program your own combination after opening the safe. Record this new combination on this form. If you write down your combination you must keep this information in a secure place, away from children, not inside the safe. 5. To confirm your combination was entered correctly, turn the key to the locked position (the door may remain open) and follow the instructions in the OPENING THE SAFE USING YOUR COMBINATION section. If the combination you entered does not activate the locking mechanism, you will need to go back to step 1 in this section. CLOSING THE SAFE 1. 2. Reset Button 3 Inside safe NOTE: Reset button is only accessible when the locking mechanism is in the un-locked position. Use the key to open the safe. The reset button is only accessible when the locking mechanism is in the un-locked position. Press the Reset Button (3) located inside the safe. Two beeps will sound (if the sound is turned on) and all 3 buttons will flash blue twice. You will have 5 seconds to begin entering your combination or you will have to start over. Lift up the up the holster compartment until the L shaped brackets clear the inside of the frame. Rotate the L bracket back so they point to the top of the safe and then push them out towards the safe body which will hold the holster compartment up. Then rotate the L brackets back into the guides on the back of the holster compartment. Close the compartment and hold it closed until the green light goes on and the unit beeps. 3. Enter your own 3-8 button combination by pressing any combination of the 3 buttons. Example: (RIGHT) - (LEFT) - (CENTER) - (LEFT) - (RIGHT) 4. For Each combination entry a beep will sound (if the sound is turned on) and all the buttons will light up green. If you delay more than 5 seconds between entries there will be 2 beeps (if the sound is turned on) and 2 red flashes and you will have to start over from step 2. After you have finished entering your combination, you will have 5 seconds to press the Reset Button to record your new combination or you will have to start over from step 2. When you press the Reset Button to record your new combination, there will be two beeps (if the sound is turned on) and all 3 buttons flash blue twice, indicating your new combination has been recorded. NOTE: When closing the safe with a pistol in the holster compartment, make sure the pistol does not interfere with the frame of the safe. NOTE: To verify your combination the locking mechanism must be in the locked position.

OPENING THE SAFE USING YOUR COMBINATION Enter your combination using the buttons. The buttons will light up green and there will be one beep (if the sound is turned on) for every entry. If you entered the correct combination, the buttons will flash green and the door will open. If the combination is incorrect the safe will beep 3 times (if the sound is turned on) and the red light will flash 3 times. NOTE: You will have 2 seconds between individual entries before the safe assumes you have entered your complete combination. If an incorrect security code is entered 3 times the safe will beep 5 times (if the sound is turned on) and the red light will flash 5 times resulting in the safe being automatically locked out for 60 seconds before you can try your code again. The safe will beep one time (if the sound is turned on) and the green light will flash once when the lockout period is over. If an incorrect security codes is entered 1 additional time, the safe will beep 5 times (if the sound is turned on) and the red light will flash 5 times resulting in the safe being automatically locked out for 5 minutes before the code can be tried again. The safe will beep one time (if the sound is turned on) and the green light will flash once when the lockout period is over. To close the safe, push the door closed until locked (the lights will flash green and if your sound is active it will beep when it has finished locking).

TURNING THE KEYPAD SOUND OFF/ON Your safe comes with the "Beep" sound turned on. You can turn off the "Beep" sound of the keypad by pressing all the buttons at the same time and holding for 3 seconds until the green light flashes. To turn the "Beep" sound on, press the left and middle button at the same time and hold for 3 seconds until the green light flashes. REMOVING THE SAFE FROM THE MOUNTING BRACKET Open the holster compartment as described in the Installing the Battery section. When the holster compartment has been released from the frame and the L brackets have been rotated so they are flat against the back of the holster compartment, locate 2 nuts which are located in the bottom of the safe body. Remove the 2 nuts and washers using your fingers and lift the safe off the tabs in the back of the sleeve. There are some securing tabs on the mounting sleeve that guide the back of the safe into position - you will need to make sure you have maneuvered the safe out of these tabs. Thumb nuts Mounting Bracket

SELECTING A LOCATION The safe must be secured to the mounting bracket. The safe installed in the mounting bracket must be mounted to a wall or solid surface. For optimal safety and security, the safe should be installed in an isolated, dry and secure area. THE SAFE SHOULD ALWAYS BE KEPT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. SECURING THE SAFE NOTE: This safe must always be secured in the mounting bracket and mounted to a wall or solid surface. Failure to do so will compromise the safety and security of the safe. Secure the mounting bracket to wall studs using the pre-drilled mounting holes in the bracket and hardware provided. Place the mounting bracket in the desired location and mark the mounting holes to be used with a pencil. Move the mounting bracket and drill the pilot holes for the screws. For mounting to a wall stud, drill a 3/16 diameter pilot hole and attach the bracket using the Lag screws and washers. Place the safe back into the mounting bracket and replace the 2 thumb nuts and washers. Secure the holster compartment in place, following the steps in Closing The Safe section of these instructions. Close and lock the safe Lag screws Mounting Bracket NOTE ON LOCKING THE SAFE: The mounting bracket needs to be in an upright position, as shown in figure 3, for the locking mechanism to function properly. Failure to mount the safe in the correct upright position will compromise the safety and security of the safe. NOTE: The mounting bracket must be secured to a wall stud on one side of the bracket in the top and bottom holes so that it is anchored to the wall stud in two locations. Wall anchors should be used on the other side. The bracket should be secured in 4 locations. Use the hardware provided or consult your hardware retailer for fastening hardware for your particular mounting surfaces. After the mounting bracket is secured you must secure the safe to the bracket to insure the optimal safety and security of the safe. FIGURE 3
