The MONA Bathing Lift helps achieving a greater mobility and independence for the handicapped and older people in their daily living activities, especially in hospitals, in private, and Senior Citizens homes. General Information General information The Horcher GmbH deals with the development and manufacture of patient care tools like lifts and bath systems since 1986. Since 1995 we started to manufacture the MONA Bathing Lift. During that time we have reached a high technical standard for efficiency and reliability. Our systems have been developed extensively for individuals which are either handicapped or with limitations in their mobility. Serving individuals, families and professionals in private homes, hospitals, rest homes and senior citizens resident as well as in a variety of other settings. They are most efficient transfer devices, serving both the care-giver and the caretaker. Warranty Information Service and warranty information All mechanical and electrical components of the Horcher GmbH MONA lift have a limited two year warranty from the date of the original purchase and delivery, providing such defect is the result of poor craftsmanship or inherent defect in component material and not the result of improper use or handling. Please send the filled out warranty card back to the Horcher GmbH. This will speed up any questions you may have or problems that might arise with your lift during the warranty period. Thank you!! Safety instruction General Safety Instructions Please follow the safety instruction mentioned below!! The MONA Bathing Lift can only be used on a hard even and clean floor, ( not on stony or uneven surface) the floor has to be clean and free of all obstacles.! A sight check is absolutely necessary and should be done before you use the MONA Bathing Lift or any other kind of lift. If you notice any kind of defect do not use the lift.! Only authorized persons form the Horcher GmbH are allowed to repair the lift. Use only the original and authorized Horcher GmbH accessories.! Before you utilizing the MONA Bathing Lift and after each move or transport the wheels have to be locked.! Do not use the lift for long transportation s like up or down hill. Please use a wheelchair for long transports.! Caution has to be used when driving through tight area such as door frames.! Before utilizing the lift please make sure that the patient is secured with the straps. The patient should always be transported in a sitting position and should not lean sideways this could cause accidents.! The battery charger is not to be installed in damp areas or close to water faucets.! For cleaning the lift don t use any strong detergent. A damp clean cloth to wipe the lift clean is sufficient.! Keep the wheels clear of all dirt such as hair dust or lose thread (lint).! Be careful to avoid sudden movements like pushing or shoving. This might cause accidents. Also never transport the patient in a lying position and don t let the patient be seated on the side s of the lift.! Please follow all the safety instruction mentioned above. Using the lift system other than mentioned above could result in personal injuries and will avoid any warranties and guarantees through the Horcher GmbH. General operating instructions Installation and use of the bathing lift The only thing you have to do is insert the battery pack by pushing it straight in the receptacle on the back of Lift. Turning the Lift on pull the red button on top of the console out. The big red knob is also the emergency ON / OFF button. When pushing the red button down the electric circuit is interrupted and the Lift stops immediately. Pulling the red button up starts the Lift. The black knob on the side of the console lifts or lowers the patient. Control lights: Green light Lift is ON - ready to use. Red light Battery low - needs to be charged. General operating instructions Installation and use of the bathing lift Use the following Checklist to make sure that the area around is free and safe to use. - The MONA - Bathing Lift is intended for use on flat, level and firm ground and developed primarily for the use in interior rooms. - Make sure that the transfer route is free before start lifting. Furniture and other items must be removed before transfer. - Each time you utilize the MONA Lift, great caution must be taken: The nurse /assistant should watch the patient at all times while the lifting is in process. - Only responsible adult person s should utilize this Lift and only for the purpose of lifting patients with restrained limitation. - During the lifting explain the procedure to the patient this will give the patient more security. If the ambient and patient meet the above conditions, the MONA bathing lift will be a great support in daily life. Wheels with brakes Prior to operating the Mona Bathing Lift you should always make sure that the rear wheels are looked when lifting or lowering patients. To look wheels push lever down on the hind wheels. Release locks by pulling up on the lever. Adapter (not included) With the help of the adapter the lift can be adjusted for different bathtub width. This enables you to use the lift on almost every bathtub. The standard rim width is 60mm, should you have a bathtub on which the edge is wider, then we can manufacture the special size you require. General operating instructions How to utilize the Bathing Lift MONA The MONA offers a greater degree of comfort to bedridden and pressure sensitive patients. Transfer between bed and bath are made much easier for caregiver and patient alike. The patient must always be lifted from a lying position: Move the patient in a stable side way position, now lower both side panels and move the Bathing Lift closely to the bed. This will enable the nurse or attended to lower the Lift onto the mattress and the patient can be moved onto the Lift. Please make sure that the patients buttocks is totally moved on to the Lift. Raising the head portion, take both hands pushing the head portion forward this will bring the patient in a sitting position. Please make sure that the lock engages with the connection joint in the position you like. The head portion can be adjusted in five different ways. Now the patient is ready to be moved. Don t let the patient sit on the side portion of the Lift Utmost care must be taken when lifting a patient. The patient has to be watched carefully during the lifting and moving. When possible there should always be two person attending and assist in the lifting and moving. The Lift should only be handled by responsible adults and only for the purpose of lifting and moving the patient. When you ready a patient to be lifted it is always recommended that the patient sees the Lift and what is about to happen and that you are about to start the lifting procedures, this will give the patient a greater sense of safety and security. Digital scale Quick Start Guide Scope of the digital scale SLS The digital scale is for the weighing of patients under the supervision of a qualified, trained nursing staff in accordance of the instructions provided in this manual. The digital scale is as special accessories and intended for use only with appropriate lift models.. During this time, the digital scale should not be moved or loaded! 1. Press the ON/OFF key once 2. Display segment test ( ~ 5 seconds ) 3. Then all the segments go out ( ~ 2 seconds ) 4. Digital scale Weighing when switching the scale on without a patient Once the segment test is completed the display is set to 0.0 kg and the scale is ready for operation. Before the patient can sit in the scale, the weight that is not to be included in the meas urement (e.g. a towel) must be placed on the scale and tare key G/N >0/T< must be pressed. Please note that the zero on start-up range for a 200 kg single-range balance is limited at the factory to 10 kg. Automatic zeroing is not performed above this loading. Should it not be possible to avoid this situation, please press the tare key to force zeroing. Be aware, however, that the lifter scale weighing range is reduced by this amount. - Press the G/N key once: to tare - You can now weigh - Press the G/N key once again to toggle between the scale zero setting and the gross weight. - Only then should the patient sit in the sling. The weight can now be read on the display. Weighing when switching the scale on with a patient Once the segment test is completed the scale shows an undefined weight value. (Caution: this is not the patient's weight value) - Press the ON/OFF key once: to switch the scale on - Display segment test (5 seconds) - Then all the segments go out - Followed by the display of software used - The total weight is displayed (with the cradle!) Information: If zero is displayed at this point, it is not possible to weigh like this. - Now press the tare key to determine the weight of the patient. Then remove the patient from the scale (display value is now negative). The weights of the sling, towel, etc., that are not to be measured stay on the scale or must be reattached. The value that is now displayed without the minus sign corresponds to the actual body weight of the patient. - Press the G/N key once: to tare - The total weight is set to zero - Once the patient gets out of the cradle, their weight is displayed with a negative sign. Changing the unit (kg lb) Switch the scale on and wait for ~10 seconds. - Unit kg - Press On/Off key for 5 seconds - Unit lb Proceed in the same way to change from lb to kg. IBS Battery System Intelligent Battery System IBS Your lift has been equipped with this new battery system. The battery is charged before delivery. We the Horcher GmbH have developed this new IBS Battery System for rechargeable batteries the integrated regulated memory chip safes the battery from being handled the wrong way. When not in use, the IBS battery shuts of automatically after three minutes, to safe energy and no damage occurs to the battery. Reminds the user when battery is low through an interval tune. If the user disregards this message then a continuance tune will remind him that the battery is low and need s to be recharged. Battery charger Charging Plug battery into charging station, make sure the charging station is plugged in to the wall outlet. Charger light will glow brightly while being charged. Your battery is totally charged when the control light is off. The wall mounted battery charger should only be installed in dry rooms and close to an electrical outlet. Make sure the battery charger is not installed close to a water faucet or in a damp area. Should your lift show no function, check the fuse in the battery or battery charger. Maintenance Maintenance for the MONA Lift. - Faulty or defective lifts must immediately be marked defective or tagged with "Do Not Use" or similar language and withdrawn from use until repaired. - Check the easy movement of the joints of the lift (e.g. Base) - All sliding parts and movable fittings must be lightly greased at least once a year. Use only acid-free and resin-free grease or oil. - Use a clean, dry cloth or a cloth moistened with clean water to clean the lift. - Do not use a high pressure cleaner! - Always keep the wheels free of dust lint and hair. - Cleaning the stretcher on the Mona Bathing Lift do not use water over 60.Just clean with regular detergent and antiseptic. Please regard that the MONA lift should be serviced once a year through an authorized technician from the Horcher GmbH to ensure the high safety standards. We recommend that you should purchase a service contract for the yearly maintenance of your lift.
