Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:- Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 10 mm Socket or Wrench 1. Preparation (a) Inspect all kit components and check for damage or missing parts. Fig. 1-1 Negative terminal For Gas vehicles, the battery is located in the engine compartment. (a) Locate and remove the negative battery terminal. 1. Remove the negative battery terminal using a 10 mm wrench or socket and set aside. (Fig. 1-1) 2. Do not touch the positive terminal with any part of the tool when removing cable. Page 2 of 18 pages

Nylon Pry Tool 2. Vehicle disassembly If present, remove existing door sill covers using standard process for removing double sided taped on parts/badges. NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, procedure for driver and passenger side is the same. Fig. 2-1 Nylon Pry Tool Retaining Nut (a) Remove the front left and front right inner door scuff plates. (Fig. 2-1) 1. Disengage the 2 claws on the inside bottom Disengaging the 4 clips using nylon pry tool if necessary. Clip Location Fig. 2-2 (b) Remove the front left and front right cowl side covers. (Fig. 2-2) 1. Remove the retaining nut. 2. Pull the cover straight away from the body to detach one (1) clip in the direction of the arrows. Use nylon pry tool if necessary. 3. If a clip is stuck to the body after removal, remove the clip and reattach it to the cowl cover. (c) Detach the front left and front right weather seal from the bottom pinch weld. Disconnect connectors for passenger airbag and hazard. (Fig 2-4) Fig. 2-4 10mm Socket (e) Remove Radio Bolt Locations 1. Remove four 10mm radio bolts as shown. (Fig. 2-5) 2. Remove radio, disconnect all connectors. Fig. 2-5 (f) Remove glove box 1. Detach glove box damper by pressing retaining clips together and pulling off damper. (Fig. 2-6) Fig. 2-6 Page 4 of 18 pages

(Fig. 2-11) Fig. 2-11 Nylon Pry tool Clip Locations (i) Remove instrument cluster bezel 1. Release steering column height adjustment and lower steering wheel to bottom and out. 2. Using nylon pry tool, pull out instrument cluster bezel (4 clips). (Fig. 2-12) Fig. 2-12 #2 Phillips Head Screwdriver Page 6 of 18 pages

#2 Phillips Head Screwdriver Screw Locations (j) Remove instrument cluster 1. Remove two screws at bottom left and right. (Fig. 2-13) Fig. 2-13 2. Place a protective cloth between steering wheel and instrument cluster and fold/pull cluster forward. Disconnect (2 connectors). (Fig. 2-14) 3. Carefully slide out cluster towards the left (driver) side of vehicle. Fig. 2-14 Page 7 of 18 pages

3. Accessory Installation (a) Mount front illuminated door sills Tape measure Front Carpet Clip Passenger side Fig. 3-1 Mark Here 30mm 10mm 1. Clean passenger side door sill area with VDC approved cleaner. Measure 10mm from the outside edge of the pinch weld and mark two areas left and right. Measure 30mm from the rear edge of the front carpet clip towards back of vehicle and mark the pinch weld. (Fig. 3-1) Note: The work area, door sills, and vehicle door surface temperature must be at least 60 F. Masking Tape 1 2 2. Apply a strip of masking tape (1) along the inside edge of the rocker, with its outer edge at the 10 mm marks. Apply a second piece of masking tape (2) with its back edge at the 30 mm mark. (Fig. 3-2) Fig. 3-2 Mark Here Roller 1 2 3. Remove adhesive protective film/tape. Place rear edge of door sill against edge of masking tape (1). DO NOT DROP DOOR SILL DOWN ONTO VEHICLE. Then, slide door sill to align cable with edge of masking tape (2). Drop door sill protector on vehicle sill. Using a roller, fully wet out adhesive. Remove masking tape. (Fig 3-3) Fig. 3-3 CAUTION: Door sills are marked left and right. If door sill wire lines up with soft part of weather strip then they are reversed! Page 8 of 18 pages

4. Snap bottom of cable hider into rear of door sill protector as shown. (Push top of hider piece until you hear an audile snap.) (Fig. 3-4) CAUTION: Make sure door sill wire runs behind cable protector. Fig. 3-4 5. Ensure cable hider is properly aligned. Pull back cable hider, being careful not to disengage from door sill protector. Remove four (4) adhesive protectors and attach cable hider against vehicle. 6. Run wire over pinch weld and reinstall weather seal over wire as shown. (Fig. 3-5) Fig. 3-5 7. Route optical cable along existing harness and harness holder (orange arrow) towards junction blocks in kick panel. Secure with three (3) wire ties as shown (blue arrows). (Fig. 3-6) Driver Side 8. (b) Connect to vehicle 1. Locate right side connector (white) on under dash junction block (below steering column). (Fig. 3-7) Fig. 3-7 2. Unlock yellow security lock (orange arrow) and remove connector from junction block. (Fig. 3-8) Fig. 3-8 3. Remove grey connector lock from connector body to access red and blue wires indicated by red arrows. (Fig. 3-9) Fig. 3-9 Page 10 of 18 pages

4. Review Fig. 3-10 for use of the wire taps. Fig. 3-10 5. Locate the red (pin 42) and blue (pin 54) wires as shown and install scotch locks to both these wires. Connect the door sill electronics package red wire to the scotch lock on the connector s red wire. 7. Connect the door sill electronics package blue wire to the scotch lock on the connector s blue wire. (Fig. 3-12) Pliers 8. Reinstall the grey connector lock and reconnect connector to connector block. Put yellow lock back in original position. Fig. 3-12 Page 11 of 18 pages

(c) Route electrical wires 1. Wire tie the electronics module to the vehicle wire harness (orange arrow). Apply one (1) more wire tie as shown (blue arrows). (Fig. 3-13a) Fig. 3-13a Route behind this harness Electronics Module 2. Run the short LED wire down and towards the driver side cowl area connector block (green arrow). (Fig. 3-13a) 3. Run the long LED wire up towards the driver side vent and instrument panel area (red arrow). (Fig. 3-13a) Driver Side 4. Line up the light engine protective sleeve on the electronics package short wire to the optical wire from the driver side door sill (Fig. 3-13) Fig. 3-13 5. Insert the optical wire into the opening until you hear a click sound. Slightly pull on the optical wire to ensure it is properly locked in (Fig. 3-14) Fig. 3-14 Page 12 of 18 pages

6. Wrap foam tape around the protective sleeve and secure to existing harness with one (1) wire tie (orange arrow). Point lock portion of wire tie towards the front of the vehicle to avoid potential knocking against cowl panel. Add one (1) more wire tie to secure harness as shown (blue arrow). (Fig. 3-15) Fig. 3-15 Point lock towards inside CAUTION: Make sure not to wire tie to the yellow air bag wire. Passenger Side 7. Run long LED wire from electronics package along existing dash harness behind instrument panel, secure with three (3) wire ties. (Fig. 3-16) Fig. 3-16 8. Continue running wire along and plastic dash harness carrier, secure with three (3) pieces of foam tape as shown. (Fig. 3-17) Fig. 3-17 Page 13 of 18 pages

9. Run wire behind radio opening and secure to dash harness, or carrier bracket if no harness present (see insert picture), with one (1) wire tie (blue arrow) and one (1) piece of tape (orange arrow) as shown. (Fig. 3-18) Fig. 3-18 10. Secure LED harness to vehicle harness with one (1) wire tie at left side of radio opening as shown. (Fig. 3-19) Fig. 3-19 11. Run long LED wire into passenger side dash opening and secure to existing harness with two (2) wire ties as shown. (Fig. 3-20) CAUTION: Make sure not to wire tie to the yellow air bag wire. 12. Continue running wire along existing harness inside passenger side dash opening and secure with two (2) wire ties as shown. (Fig. 3-21) CAUTION: Make sure not to wire tie to the yellow air bag wire. Run door sill wire under this wire. Fig. 3-21 13. Route LED wire down along existing harness behind glove box opening, in front of dash support tube (see insert picture), and towards passengers side cowl connector block as shown, secure with two (2) wire ties. Connect long LED wire to optical wire from passenger side door sill using same procedure used in steps (c) 4-5 for driver side. Wrap with foam tape and secure to existing harness with one (1) wire tie (orange arrow). Add one (1) more wire tie as shown (blue arrow). (Fig. 3-23) 15. Trim all excess wire ties. 4. Testing. (a) Temporarily reconnect the negative battery terminal. If required, install the short pin. (b) Press in the front door courtesy switches to check the function of the front door scuff plates. 1. Door sill light should be on with the door (s) open (Fig. 4-1). Fig. 4-1 2. Door sill light should turn off after 15 sec. when all door courtesy switches are pressed in. 5. Vehicle reassembly. 10 mm Socket or Wrench (a) Reassemble vehicle by reversing steps 2 (j) trough 2 (a). (b) Tighten the negative battery cable. (Fig 5-1) 1. Position the negative battery cable at the original factory position. Fig. 5-1 2. Tighten the nut with 5.4 N-m (48 lbf-in) of torque. Torque: 5.4 N-m (48 lbf-in) 3. Do not touch the positive battery terminal with any tool when replacing the cable. 6. Completing the installation. (a) Perform any accessory or vehicle function checks. (b) If required, replace the short pin to its original position. (c) Clean up and remove any trash. Page 17 of 18 pages

Checklist - these points MUST be checked to ensure a quality installation. Check: Look For: Accessory Function Checks Door sill fitment Open the front doors Press front courtesy switch on each side There should be no uneven gaps around the edges, and clips should be securely fastened. Front door sill lights should turn on. Front door sill lights should turn off for each side. Vehicle Function Checks Door courtesy lights Front door courtesy lights should operate normally. Radio Power mirrors Dimmer Instrument cluster Hazard switch Passenger airbag indicator Radio should function normally. Mirrors should function normally. Dimmer should function normally. Instrument cluster functions normally. Hazard switch functions normally. Passenger airbag indicator light turns on. Vehicle Appearance Check After accessory installation and removal of protective cover(s), perform a visual inspection. Ensure no damage (including scuffs and scratches) was caused during the installation process. (For PPO installations, refer to TMS Accessory Quality Shipping Standard.) Page 18 of 18 pages
