WAB 02 CCT Wheel alignment has never been so quick, precise and simple! Colour coded optical CCT measuring technology revolutionises Wheel alignment in the workshop. Up till now, wheel alignment has always been one of the most challenging daily jobs in the workshop. This is mainly due to the costs involved in having specialised personnel available coupled with the risks when it is found that the measured vehicle does not require adjustment. Due to these factors, alignment is normally only carried out when visible signs indicate bad tracking such as uneven wear on tyres or steering wheel misalignment. Routine alignment checks on reception of vehicles have not really been a viable option apart from using the WAB 01. The non contact WAB 02 has gone a step further to present a system that revolutionises the wheel alignment industry. Through the amalgamation of the fully automatic compensation process on the WAB 01 coupled with the high end non touch measurement system, it paves the way for standard alignment inspections at workshop receptions. The system Lift and wheel alignment probes combine together to form one synchronised unit. Any kind of possible damage to the vehicle is completely reduced due to the absence of any kind of clamping brackets etc fitted to the vehicle. Measurement anomalies caused by ill fitting clamps and problems that could occur during the wheel run out compensation are now a thing of the past. System Componants: The electronic scissors lift with level runways together with a com fortable function to freeze the acquired measurements enables a high precise wheel alignment at any height. The interactive Safety Star Technology guarantees the highest safety standards with full safety at any working height and a perfect level platform between ramps due to electronic levelling and proportional hydraulics. All four turn plates and slide plates automatically and pneumatically move to the correct positions required. The heaviest vehicles can be measured due to a 1,500 kg weight capacity on each plate. The two modular installed wheel alignment probes move forward and backward along the side of the ramps. The vehicle data bank enables quick and comfortable selection of many brands of vehicles to enable the correct vehicle data to be found. Additional and special vehicle data can be entered manually at any time. The fully automatic wheel compensation run out eliminates measurement anomalies that could be caused upon raising the vehicle and problems that could be caused if wheel brackets were to be used. Only this way can the perfect repeatability of measurements be achieved. Fully automatic procedure The fully automatic process starts, after selection of the vehicle from the database. The operator can either stay seated in the vehicle or get out and talk to his customer. The measurement procedure: Colour Coded Triangulation (CCT) SIDIS 3DCAM, the safest, most stable and most accurate wheel alignment probe since the invention of the wheel. Nussbaum has placed the SIDIS 3DCAM- probes at the heart of the system for the latest generation of WAB. This enables an industrial developed technology to be used for the first time in workshops to offer the optimum in user comfort. Siemens used the opportunity to develop the SIDIS 3DCAM system to minimise of the inaccuracy and poor flexibility of other systems. A primary aim of the development was to create a system that produces highly accurate results and this resulted in the creation of CCT, Colour Coded Triangulation. This principle, through 3-D measurement process can be used on any object and is based on the following: A projector beams a series of horizontal light beams on an object while at the same time a camera is situated at its centre. If the object is level, then the projected light beams are shown as straight lines. If the object has curves i.e. a round ball, then the camera will pick up these lines in a different way. Additionally, if the object is moved or turned then the lines will react accordingly. If a number of lines are beamed onto a wheel, then every point of these lines is recorded by the camera and a 3-D image is acquired. In order to differentiate between each particular line, various colour codes are for each line is introduced. Each of the many coloured lines are specially coded. After a short reference measurement, the probes move to the rear axle. Automatic wheel run out compensation on the rear axle, enabling the slip plates to be moved in opposite directions through a hydraulic process. Engineered and manufactured in Germany
through the identification of each point in X, Y and Z modes on these lines and produce a 3-D image of the surface of the wheel and tyre. Siemens have worked with this Colour Coded Triangulation method for some time on facial recognition. The next step was to add the SIDIS 3DCam to ascertain all vehicle measurement information that has now been achieved. The advantages of such a system are primarily that this 3D Cam system produces highly accurate measurement values. The SIDI 3DCAM is therefore much more efficient than other alignment systems that have individual laser probes and reflectors or systems that calculate from only the edge of the rims. Furthermore, according to the selected program the complete vehicle alignment measurements can be retrieved all movements of the wheels, something that is impossible with sequential processes. Measurement is then taken of the toe and camber through Colour Coded Triangulation. The same process on the front axle.
