BEFORE INSTALLING THIS SYSTEM Required Tools 1. Digital Voltmeter or Multimeter 2. Wire Strippers 3. Wire Crimpers 4. Wire Cutters 5. Electric Drill with Drill Bits 6. Various Screwdrivers 7. Mechanics Socket Set 8. Electrical Tape 9. Tie Straps WARNING!! Use of a grounding type test light or logic probe could cause damage to vehicle electronics. It is strongly recomended that a digital voltmeter/multimeter be used to test vehicle circuits. Vehicle Information 1. Obtain a printout of a wire and location chart for the vehicle from the internet. http://techservices.codesystems.com Username: DIY Password: 852 2. Check with your authorized Code Alarm dealer for any additional parts or accessories necessary to complete the installation (i.e. door lock interface or relays). 3. If you have additional questions or need installation support the Code Alarm Technical Services team can be reached at (800)421-3209. Plan your Installation 1. Allocate 3-4 hours for a typical installation. 2. Choose a well ventilated area to work. 3. Read through the entire installation manual prior to starting the installation. 4. Locate and verify all vehicle wiring prior to making connections. 5. Locate mounting locations for component. (control module, LED, programming switch etc) 6. Prep the wiring harness. (group wires that will be going to the same area in the vehicle) 7. Cut wires to fit before making connections in the vehicle. (This will make for a neater installation) 2

4. STATUS LED, SHOCK SENSOR AND PROGRAM SWITCH MOUNTING Red Status LED Mounting (RED and BLUE with 2-pin connector) Drill a 1/4 diameter hole in an area that is visible but not distracting to the driver. Be careful to make sure the is clearence behind the panel to prevent drilling in to wiring or switches. Pass the RED and BLUE LED wires through the hole and firmly snap the LED in place. Route the LED wires to the control module and plug into the 2-pin connector. Program Switch Mounting (GRAY and Black with 2-pin BLUE connector) Drill a 9/32 diameter hole in an area that is easily accessible but not in plain sight. Be careful to make sure the is clearence behind the panel to prevent drilling in to wiring or switches. Mount the switch from behind the chosen panel and secure with the supplied star washer and nut. Route the program switch wires to the control module and plug into the 2-pin BLUE connector. Shock Sensor Mounting (4-pin White Connector) Plug one end of the 4-pin harness into the shock sensor assembly. Mount the shock sensor to a bracket or large wire harness under the driver s side dashboard with long tie straps. Make sure the shock sensor is mounted with the adjustment screw accessible for programming. Route the other end of the 4-pin harness to the control module and plug into the 4-pin connector. Powering-up the system Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Plug (2) power fuses (5 Amp, 15 Amp) into the holders. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. Mounting the CSI-300 Control Module Using long tie straps mount the control module to an underdash bracket or large wire harness, making sure it does not interfere with any moving parts in the vehicle. Using tiestraps secure any wiring to prevent it from hanging or rubbing against any panels or bracket. 20

5. SYSTEM PROGRAMMING, CONTINUED Shock Sensor Programming The shock sensor included with the system has 2 detection zones, pre-detect and full trigger. Pre-detect provides warning chirps upon light impacts on the vehicle, while full trigger provides full alarm trigger upon harder impacts. Both zones are adjusted using the small screw on the face of the shock sensor assembly. 1. Locate the adjustment screw on the previously mounted shock sensor. 2. Using a small phillips screwdriver, gently turn the adjustment screw fully counterclockwise (Do Not Overtighten). 3. Make sure the ignition key is off and close all doors, hood and trunk. 4. Arm the security system by pressing the LOCK icon button on the transmitter. 5. After 10 seconds firmly strike the rear bumper with the side of a closed fist considering the amount of force required to break a window. 6. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise (increasing sensitivity) about 1/4 turn, and follow steps 4 and 5 again. A firm closed fist impact on the rear bumper of the vehicle should cause the alarm to emit pre-detect chirps. IMPORTANT!!! SETTING THE SENSITIVITY TOO HIGH CAN CAUSE FALSE ALARMS DUE TO NOISE VIBRATIONS FROM PASSING TRUCKS AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT. TO DECREASE SENSITIVITY, TURN THE ADJUSTMENT COUNTERCLOCKWISE. WARNING!!! NEVER STRIKE VEHICLE GLASS TO TEST SHOCK SENSOR SENSITIVITY 23
