ADMINISTRATION General Warranty Information Toro Serial Number Format Starting with Model Year 2017, Toro-manufactured equipment will have a new serial number format. We will begin utilizing SAP to generate and control a serial number for each individual unit, which represents an industry best practice that: Delivers enhanced tracking and control by unit Standardizes the number assignment process across all Toro manufacturing plants SAMPLE SERIAL NUMBER: 400010500 See Administrative Service Bulletin for more details. No Warranty Charges Under no circumstances should a customer be charged for repairs which are covered under the manufacturer s warranty. A dealer must not charge a customer a fee for filing the warranty claim. Toro discourages charging a customer for diagnostic time. If a dealer charges a diagnostic fee as a condition of providing service, it MUST be returned upon completion of repair if the repair is covered under warranty. Except for electrical diagnostics on certain products, a separate diagnostic fee can t be claimed when filing a warranty because the Toro Standard Repair Times include diagnostic time. Residential Use or Commercial Use? The warranty period varies depending on the use of the machine. Below is a clarification between residential and commercial use. Residential Use warranty coverage applies to residential and LCE products owned by an individual and used exclusively at their place of residence. Commercial Use warranty coverage applies to any application other than individuals at their place of residence. This coverage is automatically applied to products registered to any business or institution. 1-2

Defective Parts ADMINISTRATION Admin Stock parts, parts determined to be defective prior to sale or installation, should be claimed in accordance with your parts source. Parts installed on a machine or sold to a customer carry different warranty periods (see chart below). Claims for defective parts should be filed in PRW using the Parts Warranty claim type. Please see the warranty statement in the Operator s Manual for certain part warranty exceptions. Residential Commercial Consumer/Lawn-Boy 1 year 45 days Product Registrations Warranty claims can not be submitted without the product being properly registered in PRW. Registration changes that involve the customer s name or address can be done by the dealer. Dealers can request the following changes to registrations through PRW by using the Return to Stock button: 1. Delete an entire registration 2. Change a purchase date See the PRW User Manual for complete instructions. Hold Parts for 30 Days Remember not to throw away any part that appears on a warranty claim. Keep them for 30 days after the warranty claim has been paid. RGA documentation is computer generated through the PRW system. Prior Distributor Approval Prior Distributor Service Manager (or Toro Technical Service Representative in Direct Service Markets) approval is required for claims involving: Out of warranty repairs Complete engine replacement 1-3

Email Address must be Maintained ADMINISTRATION Toro uses email to communicate warranty and service information. It is important to inform us if you change your email address. Updates can be made in the Toro Dealer and Distributor Portal on the home page by clicking, Update My Info. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act In the United States, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act requires that the contents of the warranty statement be made available to consumers prior to their making a purchase. Some retailers have been fined for non-compliance with the pre-sale availability requirement, and it should not be taken lightly. Acceptable forms: Loose-leaf binder Wall poster Hang tag Statement affixed to product Product Warranty Coverage The Toro Gateway Parts and Service Center, (accessible from the Toro Dealer and Distributor Portal), is the best resource for finding applicable warranty terms for all Toro products. Click on Product Reference, type in the model number, click search, select the appropriate unit and scroll to the bottom for warranty coverage. What is Gateway? Gateway Parts and Service Center is accessed through the Dealer and Distributor Portal. It covers a variety of service information including Master Parts Viewer (a free parts lookup tool for all equipment dating back to 1960), Product and Model Reference, Publications Search, Service Bulletins, manuals (operator s, parts and service), and other service education and reference materials. 1-4

Other Tech Tips: When removing a carburetor for service, use caution to not disturb the governor clamp position. The linkage should be removed prior to sliding the carburetor completely off the mounting studs. If the engine is surging it may be necessary to re-adjust the governor zero point after the carburetor has been removed or replaced. Refer to the Toro Engine Service Manual in Gateway Parts & Service for governor zero-point adjustments. Reminder: Always use the chassis model and serial number to look up the correct carburetor part number. The carburetors are not interchangeable for different models and/or model years. 3-5
