TALUSIA OPTIMA
A simple solution in A complex environment Tough times Ship operators are facing an ever more complex environment. New regulations, new technologies, and new fuels mean tougher operational constraints and more crew stress. Compliance costs are far from negligible, especially when vessel earnings are depressed. Selecting the right lubricant is no simple undertaking. Suppliers have reacted to regulatory, technical and operational changes by widening their cylinder oil ranges. Today it is trickier than ever before to select the right lube. How can you be certain you are making the right decision when a mistake may cost millions of dollars? New technologies, new regulations, new fuels At TOTAL LUBMARINE, we aim at simplifying ship operators daily operations by providing flexibility and cost effectiveness through innovative products and services. Pioneer of the single oil concept, we have pushed our R&D further and have used brand new chemistry to create TALUSIA OPTIMA, the new generation single oil that powers efficiency.
B A S I C I T Y ( B N ) B A S I C I T Y ( B N ) talusia optima TALUSIA OPTIMA is a BN 100 Marine Cylinder Lubricant suitable for the most demanding Tier III two-stroke engines and for operations with fuels with a sulphur content range of 0.0 to 3.5%. This ground-breaking lubricant was developed through intensive R&D at our renowned Solaize Research Center. OEM WinGD (Wärtsilä) has issued a Letter of No-Objection for the use of TALUSIA OPTIMA with its entire two-stroke engine range. MAN Diesel & Turbo has issued a provisional No-Objection letter as a field test is still ongoing. This follows challenging sea trials of more than 4000 running hours using a wide variety of fuels ranging from 0.0 to 3.5% in sulphur content. TALUSIA OPTIMA has been formulated using a unique and patented technology known as Ashfree Neutralizing Molecules (ANM) which provides fast and effective acid neutralization without any undesired mineral deposit build up. High quality mineral components are used in combination with ANM to provide detergency and cleanliness. outstanding performance Tested and challenged TALUSIA OPTIMA has been rigorously tested, undergoing thorough sea-trials and stringent lab testing. TALUSIA OPTIMA is proven to neutralize acidity faster and more effectively compared to a BN 100 conventional Marine Cylinder Lubricant. Resistance to adhesive wear is proven to be better than that of conventional BN 100 cylinder lube oil and piston coating wear rate improved by 30%. Thermal resistance and detergency properties of TALUSIA OPTIMA are higher than those of a conventional BN 100 lubricant. Following sea trials, the final engine inspections found perfect piston and liner cleanliness. When used in combination with distillate fuels with less than 0.1% sulphur content, ring packs and piston top lands were found to be free of hard deposits. Frequent and regular drain oil analysis during sea trials showed residual BN was always higher than that of conventional lubricants and total iron content always lower without any hard ash deposit formation. Perfect piston and liner cleanliness
DeliverinG tangible results Simplicity Suitable for use with fuels ranging from 0.0 to 3.5% sulphur content means only one cylinder oil needs be used onboard. This reduces shore team and crew workloads by avoiding lube oil switchovers; reducing the number of orders; minimizing bunkering operations as well as lowering the risk of human error. Cost savings are also enabled by doing away with the extra storage, stock and equipment needed when dealing with several products. Efficiency TALUSIA OPTIMA s outstanding performance allows for a reduced Lube Oil Feed Rate (LOFR) without compromising on engine protection. Depending on engine types and operating conditions, optimizations of up to 30% can be expected. Your Marine Lubricant Engineer can help you achieve these results rapidly, allowing you to make big savings. Risk of engine failure is at its lowest Protection Safety at sea is our shared priority. The outstanding performance and great flexibility of TALUSIA OPTIMA provide ship operators with very high safety margins regardless of the sulphur content of the fuel powering the engines. Risk of engine failure is at its lowest level and wear is greatly reduced. Consequently, savings can be made on maintenance costs by extending overhaul periods.
