Sensor cables Sensor cable holder (included) Frame section Note The connector for the sensor with cable is detachable, but do not detach/attach the connector while the power is supplied. It may damage the sensor. When removing the connector, do not pull it by the cables. Pull out the connector while pressing it firmly from the top and bottom. -6-
3 Connection 3 Connection Connect one end of the motor cable (sold separately) to the motor cable of the motorized linear slides, and connect the other end to the motor connectors on the controller. For the wiring of sensor cables, refer to 3.6 Wiring the sensor I/O and user I/O in the Linear Motion Controller OPERATING MANUAL. To controller's motor connectors Controller Motor cable SPV C SPV K SPV A To controller's sensor connectors Sensor cables indicates an optional accessory (sold separately). Must be soldered. 3.1 Confirmation of controller key designation Be sure to confirm that the motorized linear slides model shown on the controller key is the same as the model of the motorized linear slides connected to the controller. If the two do not match, the motorized linear slides cannot be operated according to the specification. When you purchased a motorized linear slides only, install the supplied controller key on a controller to be connected. For details, refer to Controller key in the Linear Motion Controller OPERATING MANUAL. Controller key Motorized linear slides model 3.2 Connection of motor cable Connect one end of the optional motor cable (sold separately) to the motor cable of the motorized linear slides (SPV K and SPV A have two connectors, while SPV C only has one connector). Affix each connector and place a cover, etc., to prevent the connector from moving or receiving excessive force. Note Insert each motor cable connector until the lock lever is securely affixed. -7-
4 Inspection 4 Inspection This chapter explains the maintenance items that must be performed to ensure safe, efficient operation of the motorized linear slides. Should you encounter any abnormality, immediately stop using the product and contact your nearest Customer Service Center. 4.1 Inspection items and timing Perform the inspections specified in the table below at the start of slides operation and after finishing the operation. Set an appropriate interval for post-operation inspection according to the utilization of the motorized linear slides. Inspection timing External check and cleaning Internal check When operated for the first time After operation 4.2 External check and cleaning Check the items specified in table below. Item What to check Action if problem is found Motorized linear slides Cables Operating Are there any loose mounting screws? Are there any damages or areas receiving stress? Are there any loose connections with the controller? Are there any abnormal noise or vibration from the bearings, etc.? Tighten the screws securely. Replace the damaged/stressed cable. Plug in the loose connector again. Check the installation of the load and operating speed again. Clean the exterior surface of the motorized linear slides whenever necessary. Wipe off any dirt and stains using a soft cloth. Do not apply compressed air to prevent dust from entering through gaps. Do not use petroleum solvents, since they will damage the coated surface. To remove stubborn stains, wipe the area using a soft cloth moistened with neutral detergent. -8-
4 Inspection 4.3 Internal check/cleaning and greasing Remove the frame cover to check and clean the internal parts. Note Before removing any component, clean the exterior surface first. If dust enters the motorized linear slides, the slides may generate noise during operation or suffer breakdown. 1. Loosen the thin-head screws and remove the frame cover. Frame cover Thin-head screws 2. Visual check of condition inside the motorized linear slides. Item What to check Action if problem is found Guide rail Are there any deposits of foreign matter such as dust? Has the grease lost its gloss or been consumed? Remove the foreign matter. Use a soft cloth to clean the ball rolling groove on both sides of the guide rail, and apply grease to the ball rolling grooves. Even if grease has turned brown, you need not add grease as long as the traveling surface looks slick. 3. Add grease. Grease has been applied before shipment. Use the grease specified below. Guide block Grease application position (Ball rolling groove) Guide rail: AFB-LF grease (THK CO., LTD.) Guide rail Guide 4. Install the frame cover, and affix it with the thin-head screws.
