A. Pre-installation Precaution B2 1. Use Seat and Floor Protectors to avoid damage to surfaces. 2. If the vehicle is equipped with an Anti-theft radio, the radio code must be written down prior to disconnecting the battery cable. The code must be re-entered when the negative battery cable is reinstalled. Disconnecting the battery may cause certain vehicle settings to be lost. Manufacture s recommendations for the battery removal should be followed. Disconnecting the battery is recommended. B. Battery disconnect 1. NOTE: be sure to open rear hatch, PRIOR to disconnecting the battery. 2. Remove the NEGATIVE (-) battery terminal using a 10mm socket before starting any disassembly. C. Vehicle Disassembly C1 1. By hand partially separate weather stripping trim from driver side A-pillar by pulling away from pillar. ( C1) 2. Using needle nose pliers, rotate plastic tether approximately ¼ of a turn clockwise until tether C2 releases from molding. Then remove A-pillar molding. ( C2) 3. By hand pull down on front edge of overhead C3 console then towards front of vehicle. ( C3) 4. Disconnect electrical connectors. C4 ( C4) Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC Page 3 of 15
5. By hand pull moon roof trim ring away from headliner. ( C5) C5 Caution: Be careful when removing the headliner See diagram of headliner below. D. Headliner preparation 1. Open sunshade. 2. Align template with rear dome lamp and the D2 center of the sun shade handle, and tape in place. Mark cutout area with a pencil.( D2) 3. Slide sun shade forward and carefully cut opening in headliner with a utility knife. ( D3) E. Route wiring D3 1. Crimp (2) red male spade connectors to the red and black wires on the 15 power harness. w/sliding Roof Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC Page 4 of 15
2. Guide wire puller above headliner starting at driver s side A-pillar, route towards moon roof opening avoiding side curtain airbag and moon E4 roof track. 3. Attach 15 power harness to wire puller end at driver side A-pillar (Attach end of harness with white connector). 4. Pull 15 power cable from A-pillar opening to Moon roof opening. ( E4) 5. By hand transfer 15 power cable to monitor E5 cutout opening, leaving approximately 12 of length from forward left corner. ( E5) 6. Tuck cable into channel on driver side of moon roof then continue routing in channel of factory cross member behind moon roof opening. Make sure not to obstruct sun shade. E7 7. Apply red T-taps to yellow wire (PIN 18) and the white/black wire (PIN 12) of QE1 connector. ( E7). QE1- Pin # 12 & Pin 1 Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC Page 5 of 15
8. Attach the red power wire from the 15 harness to the T-tap on the yellow wire (Pin 18) and the black ground wire to the T-tap on the white/black E8 wire (Pin 12). ( E8) 9. Bundle excess harness in A-pillar using long loops and fix to factory harness with (3) 6 wire ties, staying clear of side curtain air bag. ( E9) E9 F. Dome lamp harness 1. Apply one red T-tap with pliers to each of the green/ red dome light wires (PIN #2, 8, 10) in the F1 Q1 connector. ( F1) Q1 Connector F2 2. Crimp (3) red male spade connectors to the red, black, & purple wire ends on the 12 main harness. ( F2) Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC Page 6 of 15
3. Attach 66 extension harness to 12 harness. ( F3) F3 4. Route dome lamp extension harness (male spade side) from monitor cut out to console opening. Tuck cable into channel along with previously run power cable. ( F4) 5. Attach the dome light harness as follows: F4 DVD dome lamp Color OE Color Q1 Connector Black/Red Green/Red PIN #10 Red/Black Green/Red PIN #2 Purple/Brown Green/Red PIN #8 ( F5) F5 G. Install bracket / Affix Harnesses 1. Center bracket in headliner cutout with both locator tabs pressed against factory cross member, use an automatic center punch to mark G1 (4) drilling locations. 2. Drill marked holes with a 3/16 drill bit with a drill stop and catch cup to prevent metal G2 shavings. ( G2) 3. Connect 15 harness to 12 harness. (2 Pin connector) G4 4. Add two pieces of foam tape to both harnesses. ( G4) 5. Affix harness in cross member channel, G5 making sure they sit flat. ( G5) 6. Attach bracket to beam with (4) #12 x ½ bolts using an 8mm socket/ratchet. Make sure to route cables through center of bracket and keep them G6 in the channel. 7. Attach Foam tape to RCA inputs and outputs. ( G7) G7 8. Tape RCA jacks and harness to bracket. ( G8) H. Preparing monitor 1. Attach correct color coded trim piece to monitor G8 Place the pod on a soft surface to avoid damaging the plastic. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC Page 9 of 15
Installing The Shroud Use supplied screws to attach trim ring to unit. A) #4 x 5/16 Self Tapping Screws (1pc) B) #4 x 7/16 Self Tapping Screws (3pcs) C) Screws ISO 3 x 8mm Long (5pcs) Begin by hooking area A (above) over the dome light and slide the cover over the pod. The cover will snap in place. Installing The Screen Cover Open the screen and hook the two tabs B on the bottom edge of the screen. Snap the opposite side over the hinge. 2. 3. Install rear (2) screws using #2 Phillips head screwdriver, then open monitor screen. ( H3) 4. Open monitor and install remaining (2) screws. H3 5. Install screw caps and USB cover I. Complete installation 1. Install 2 AAA batteries in game controller and pull battery protection strip from remote. 2. Connect battery neg. cable and torque to 36in. lbs 3. Check all previously disconnected factory connectors and accessories to ensure they are all connected and operational. 4. After testing with steps on following pages, carefully re-assemble vehicle by reversing steps in section C. 5. Store owner s manual in glove box. Store remotes and headphones in rear cargo area. Functional Verification: Check Look For: Accessory Function checks: Turn vehicle ignition to ON, depress power button on remote control for monitor. Monitor should power on, start up screen should appear on screen. Insert DVD into monitor, press enter. DVD should begin playing. Depress FMM on remote control. Tune vehicle FM radio station to channel displayed on screen. FMM ON and FM channel displayed on screen. Depress FMM on remote control. Tune vehicle FM radio station to channel displayed on screen. Turn power ON wireless headphones (turn Volume dial up slightly on headphones). FMM OFF and FM channel displayed on screen. Vehicle radio should operate normal Program on ADV29 monitor should be audible through wireless headphones. Slide dome lamp switch on monitor to ON. Both lights on monitor should turn on. Troubleshooting: Condition: Unit does not power "ON" Check For: 1. Is ignition turned "ON? 2. Are batteries installed in remote control? 3. Are power connections and ground secured? 4. Check power on the vehicle side of power connection. 5. Check power on the accessory side of power connection. 6. Is vehicle fuse blown? If yes, check to see that there is not a short circuit. 7. Check overhead video unit for continuity to ground on black wire and power at red wire on 2 pin connector (Fig. 1). Use eyelet as ground connection for all voltage checks. If continuity and power exist, the problem lies in the overhead unit. Sound is not heard through vehicle radio 1. Is FMM turned on? 2. Does vehicle radio station match radio station displayed when FMM is turned ON? Sound is not heard through wireless headphones 1. Are batteries installed? 2. Is power "ON" (headphones)? 3. Is volume turned "UP" (on headphones)? 4. Is anything blocking signal between monitor and headphones? Vehicle has poor sound Interference caused by local radio station IR Sensor inoperative No picture Unit powers up but no audio and/or video 1. Turn off FMM on monitor 1. Use FMM Select to through setup menu to choose a different channel. 1. Verify that the batteries in the remote are fresh. 2. Verify that the remote sensor eye is not obstructed. 3. Verify that the infrared transmitter is affixed over the sensor eye of the component to be controlled. 1. Verify the correct video input mode is used. 2.
