THE AUTOWELD SYSTEM Automated Pipe Welding System High Productivity
THE AUTOWELD SYSTEM The System is so simple, with just a few quick connections you re ready to weld! You re probably wondering how that is possible. Here s how: mount the guide ring to the pipe, connect the automatic welding head to the band, and you re ready to begin. to provide the exact root opening every time, and a simple lightweight welding head. The combined resources of Lincoln Electric and Sabre International have combined to provide outstanding root pass welds - time and time again. The System is versatile and easy to use. It combines the innovative Lincoln Surface Tension Transfer (STT) process for open root welding, a Sabre spacer clamp Spacing Clamp Easily Handles Pipe from 8-56 Diameter Spacing from 0-1/8 Automatic Root Advantages: Quickly & Accurately Lines Up and Spaces Pipe for Welding. Sets the Gap Between Joints Evenly All Around the Pipe from 0-1/8 (4mm). Orbital Pipe Welding System Advantages: Extremely Cost Effective. TIG Quality with MIG Speed. Very High Deposition Rate. Great for Heavy Duty Applications. Provides Repeatable, Code-Quality Welds. Waveform Control Technology Advantages: Controlled STT Waveshape for Open Root. Excellent Penetration Control. Excellent Fusion & Back Bead. No Internal Whiskers. Easy to Weld. Low Smoke & Spatter. Great Operator Comfort.
ADVANTAGE LINCOLN (STT ROOT PASS) Diffusible Hydrogen ml/100g WM 1. Low Hydrogen weld quality (Fig.1). 2. Unlike conventional pipe processes (Fig.2), greater root weld metal volume speeds line progress (Fig.3) by allowing the lineup clamp to be moved sooner. Fig.1 3. High productivity; deposition rate, deposition efficiency, and duty cycle (Fig.4). 4. Open root with no internal backup, ceramic or copper (no copper inclusions). STT 5. 100% CO 2 shielding gas, on mild steel pipe. Mixed gases may also be used on some applications. Fig.2 Fig.3 Deposition Rate lbs./hr. This is different from traditional MIG short arc welding in that the current is precisely controlled independent of the wire feed speed. The traditional violent short arc fuse explosions are eliminated. This reduces weld puddle agitation, spatter, and smoke and provides the operator increased control of the puddle and penetration.
FILL AND CAP PASSES Innershield Pipe Process (Self-Shielded) Semiautomatic Fill System After the STT root pass is welded with the System, you have a wide variety of choices for fill and cap pass welding (see chart at right). Whatever your application, Lincoln can provide the turnkey process solution for your needs. Root Pass Flux-Cored or MIG (Gas-Shielded) Semiautomatic Fill System TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Lincoln STT: Revolutionary design with independent control of wire feed speed and current. Wire mode switches to optimize the best waveform for either steel or stainless steel wires and either.035 (1.0mm) and smaller, or.045 (1.2mm) and larger diameter wires. Eliminates cold lapping on open root joints for pipe and pressure vessels. Rated DC output: 225A/29V/60%. Input voltage: 208/230/460V, AC input, 3 phase, 60Hz. Sabre Spacer Clamp: Works on pipe sizes 6 to 60 (152mm-1524mm) in diameter. The space between the joints can be varied between 0 and 4mm. It is set with three vernier dials, all of which must be at the same identical setting. The minimum air pressure required to operate the Sabre Spacer Clamp is 225 psi (15.5 BAR). However, 245 psi (16.9 BAR) is preferred. The Sabre Spacer Clamp has a full set of controls on the clamp itself and at the end of the reach rod, connected to the clamp by a power cable. The controls are electric over hydraulic and the 12V battery for the electrical portion is positioned in the clamp. : Works on pipe sizes 6.625 (168mm) and larger in diameter. This system has the capacity to weld unlimited pipeline thickness, and offers the availability of both flat track, rigid curved track and flexible track. The Vertical Motion Module provides stroke at 2.625 (6.6cm) in the motorized mode. Speed is 60 ipm (152cm/min.) max. The Air-Cooled Torch operates at 300 Amps. Uses standard components. Input voltage: 115/230V, AC input, single phase, 50/60Hz.
THE AUTOWELD PROCESS OBJECTIVE Lincoln Electric: By utilizing Waveform Control Technology, STT has the capability of delivering and changing electrode current in the order of microseconds. Precise control of the electrode current during the entire welding cycle minimizes or eliminates the main disadvantages of conventional MIG short arc welding. The Lincoln Electric Company leads the industry with innovative and cost effective welding technology! Sabre International, Inc.: The Sabre internal pneumatic spacer clamp quickly lines up and spaces the pipe for welding. The Sabre Spacer clamp sets a gap between the joints evenly all the way around the pipe, to the exact dimensions pre-set by the operator. No wedges are needed to drive the joints apart, damaging the bevel. Sabre International is bringing the pipe welding industry into the future. Multipass, orbital MIG/TIG pipeline welding is our specialty. We have designed a pipe welding system that is simple to operate without the time-consuming parameter development associated with similar systems. This system provides substantial productivity over manual stick or semi-automatic MIG for pipe 6 (168mm) and larger. The System simply offers the fastest way to orbitally weld pipe. PRIORITY #1 QUALITY - Repeatable, High-Quality Welds. PRIORITY #2 SPEED - Boost Productivity With The Process. PRIORITY #3 LOW MOBILIZATION COSTS
WELD MONITORING WITH G.P. S. The System monitors welds by use of a Global Positioning System (G.P.S). The system records information regarding the latitude and longitude of the current weld, the wire feed speed, Joule energy used, and total time spent performing the operation.
