pril 2000 ulletin 51.6:61D Trix Design 61D Trix Triple Offset High Performance utterfly Valve Description The Design 61D Trix is a triple offset disk HPV designed for rugged isolation service, available in 3 through 24-inch sizes(see figure 1). The Design 61D Trix is fire-tested approved to PI 607 Rev 4 and meets PI 609 anti-blowout shaft retention requirements. These carbon steel or stainless steel double flanged valves are available in NSI Class 150 and 300 pressure classes. Standard face-to-face dimensions include NSI 16.10 (gate valve) and ISO 5752 (short) lengths. The Design 61D Trix can be mounted to a Rack and Pinion Type 1035 actuator or a ettis Scotch Yoke actuator. The triple offset sealing system provides bi-directional bubble tight shut-off and high frequency operation with repeatable zero leakage. Features Frictionless Sealing The disk and seal surfaces meet at one contact angle, due to the triple offset geometry. ll points of the seal ring contact the seat at the same time converting the rotary motion to frictionless (non-rubbing) compression of the resilient metal seat. Excellent Shutoff Integrity Torque applied to the valve shaft loads the seal ring equally at all points with radial force to assure bi-directional zero leakage. nti lowout Protection Three anti-blowout prevention elements on the shaft provide safety from blowout hazards in compliance with PI 609. Ease of Seat Ring Maintenance The field-replaceable stainless steel seat press-fits into the valve body, eliminating costly valve body repairs. This allows maximum flow capacity, compared to valves with bolted-in seat ring designs. Compatible ctuator Mounting The ISO 5211 actuator mounting pad has full metric bolting dimensions and makes the valve compatible with a wide variety of actuators, such as the Rack and Pinion Type 1035 actuator or a ettis Scotch Yoke actuator. Structural Integrity One-piece valve body improves structural integrity of the pressure boundary by eliminating leak paths that could be caused by the body gaskets in two-piece, bolted valve designs. Triple xis Offset Configuration The Triple xis Offset sealing system in the Design 61D Triax valve achieves a seal between the two steel surfaces: a laminated duplex stainless steel/ graphite seal ring and a solid stainless steel seat. The seal ring and seat are machined into a conical shape with the apex of the cone off the centerline of the valve. The Triple xis sealing creates a linear movement of the seal ring in and out of the seat by widening the angles of engagement. The motion of the seal ring from open to close is rotary, until the last fraction of movement. It then becomes linear into and out of the seat. This creates a frictionless (non-rubbing) sealing system. fter the seal ring and seat engage, torque loads the seal ring equally around the entire periphery of the seal ring with radial force, creating bubble tight shutoff. Installation Preferred valve orientation for the Design 61D Trix valve is reverse flow direction (shaft upstream). i directional flow is permitted.
