First Quarter Report 2007 1 January to 31 March 2007
First Quarter Report 2007 Page 2 Audi Group makes a successful start in the first quarter of 2007 Market launch of the Audi TT Roadster Unveiling of the Audi A5 and the Audi R8 Economic development The overall strong growth in the world economy during 2006 slowed only slightly in the first three months of the new financial year. The European economy in particular proved a cornerstone of the economic growth. In Germany, consumer confidence became increasingly stronger after an initial slump caused by the increase in value-added tax on 1 January 2007. This upward trend was fuelled by consumers improved income expectations and the positive development of the labour market among other factors. The international automotive markets enjoyed rather mixed fortunes in the first quarter of 2007. While the markets in China, India and Eastern Europe in particular experienced positive growth rates, sales regions in Western Europe suffered decreases, some of which were significant. In terms of new registrations, the German market was 10 percent down on the first quarter of 2006. New sales record in the first three months The Audi Group made a successful start during the first three months of the new financial year, increasing sales of Audi models considerably by 9.4 percent to 248,164 (226,802) units. This increase can be attributed to the company s attractive range of models and engines, which led to extremely positive growth on the European foreign markets and in China and North America in particular, despite strong competition within the premium segment. For instance, the major European markets such as the United Kingdom, Italy and France reported marked increases, thereby enabling the further consolidation of market shares. On the US market, the increase in sales of Audi models was all the more impressive given the continuing downward trend on the market as a whole. The growth of Audi sales in Germany was also markedly better than the overall market trend.

First Quarter Report 2007 Page 4 At the beginning of the year, the Audi Group also extended its two highest-volume model series to include four new, particularly efficient models. As a result, the threedoor A3 and the A3 Sportback are now available with the new 1.9 TDI e* diesel engine, while the A4 saloon and the A4 Avant are offered with a petrol-driven 2.0 TFSI e* unit. These emissions-optimised engines increase the respective operating ranges still further without compromising driving pleasure. Audi Group financial performance At 8,679 (7,654) million euros, the revenue generated by the Audi Group rose by 13.4 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Besides positive growth in the core model lines, the principal revenue drivers were the Audi Q7 and the new TT models. Once again, the Audi Group also posted marked increases in terms of key earnings data. At 401 (350) million euros, the company s operating result was an impressive 14.6 percent higher than that for the previous year. The consolidated entity of the Audi Group was extended in the first quarter to include the newly founded companies Audi of America LLC and Audi Canada Inc., together with Audi Zentrum Hannover GmbH. Outlook Despite globally inconsistent economic trends, the Audi Group anticipates continued stable economic growth that will also be reflected in the demand for cars. For 2007 as a whole, the company thus predicts a sustained course of growth, which can be achieved in particular by extending the model range and developing existing markets. A primary focal point in this respect are the Asia-Pacific and Eastern Europe regions. Dynamic growth with respect to sales figures will also have a positive impact on key earnings figures, which will at least maintain the high level of the previous year. * fuel consumption figures at the end of the First Quarter Report
