Finding of JTT Report between Bangladesh & India Following Three Alternates was recommended: Alternate-1: Shilchar-Meghnaghat/Bhulta-Bahrampur High Capacity 400kV Line (Dropping of 500/1000 MW by HVDC BtB Station at Meghnaghat/Bhulta) Alternate-2: ±800 kv, 6500 MW HVDC multi-terminal line from Rangia/Rowta (India) Jamalpur/Barapukuria (Bangladesh)- suitable location in WR/NR/SR (India) Alternate-3: 765 kv Bongaigaon (NER/ India) Jamalpur/Barapukuria (Bangladesh) Purnea (ER/India). Barapukuria dropping 500-1000 MW to Bangladesh by HVDC BtB Station.

Alternate-3 Alternate-2 Alternate-1

A committee form in the 8 th JSC meeting held in Delhi on October, 2014 comprising of three member from each countries are now working for detail feasibility of Alternate-2. In Bangladesh side tentative location for building HVDC station near Barapukuria has been identified. Tentative line route in Bangladesh Territories has been identified.

Border to Border via Barapukuria 100km 800kV Bipole HVDC Line 500MW HVDC Station at Barapukuria Main Objective: To connect the huge hydroelectric potential of Bhutan and Arunachal Province to India through Bangladesh territory. To draw 500-1000MW power at Barapukuria from Cross Boarder Interconnection
