The On-Going Appleton Advantage Appleton uses a proprietary technique to protect seal its products. The finish its advantages come stard on all our coated (formerly painted) products, providing superior protection at no extra cost. Epoxy powder coat products last longer, thus reducing callbacks, lowering total installation operation costs. The Stard on all Appleton coated products. Unilets, lighting many conduit fittings get the epoxy powder coating as the final finishing step. Improved Triple-Coat Finish for malleable iron products. Epoxy powder coating is the third step in our exclusive Triple-Coat Finish. Malleable iron products have the combined advantages of zinc plating, chromate dip epoxy powder coating. Lasts 2 to 3 times longer. When tested under corrosive conditions, Appleton s exclusive powder-coat finish lasted 2 to 3 times longer than our competitors stard paint finishes. More flexible than paint. Products are more resistant to mechanical damage since the powder-coat finish does not crack or chip like painted surfaces. Environmentally-safe process. Unlike conventional painting processes, the Appleton Epoxy Powder Coat Finish is completely environmentally safe. Airborne overspray particulates are nonexistent. Ideal for harsh corrosive environments. This new generation finish sts up to harsh corrosive environments longer. It s the ideal choice for drilling rigs, chemical plants, refineries, pulp paper plants, any other deming application. Independent Testing: An independent laboratory tested Appleton s Epoxy Powder Coat Finish against competitive product finishes. The test results show that our powder-coat finish has more than twice the corrosion resistance than our previous paint finish. It also showed that our powder-coat finish has almost three times the corrosion resistance as some of our competitions stard paint finishes. Other tests have shown the epoxy powder coating to have the following physical properties when properly applied: Impact (ASTM D-2794): 120 in. /lbs. Direct reverse Adhesion (ASTM D-2259): No Detachment 3x Flexibility (ASTM B522): Pass1/8 mrel Coating Thickness: 2.0-2.5 mils 2x Humidity (ASTM D-2247): No Blistering Salt Spray (ASTM B-117): 1/8 creep after 1,000 hours 1x Hardness (ASTM D3363): 2H-3H Melting Point: 90C-120C (194-248F) 0 UV Resistance: Excellent mechanical protective properties. UL Listed: Listing Salt Spray Test Results Corrosion Resistance Competitive Stard Current Appleton Stard Listing, UL s most widely known service, means that UL has tested evaluated representative samples of your product determined that they meet UL s requirements. These requirements are based primarily on UL s published Stards for Safety. (Products that bear the UL Mark for Canada have been tested evaluated to the appropriate Canadian stards for safety). Interchangeable Products with an Advantage UL Classified: Classification Classification means that UL has tested evaluated representative samples of your product with respect certain properties of the product, a limited range of hazards or suitability of use under limited or special conditions. UL Classifies products to applicable UL requirements Stards for Safety, as well as to the stards of other national international organizations such as the NFPA, ASTM, NSF, ISO IEC. Page 3Page 3

EYS EYD Sealing Fittings Freedom of Choice. Appleton Grayloy -iron sealing fittings are suitable for Class I II locations. Sealing fittings prevent passage of gases, vapors or flames from one portion of a conduit system to another. They also restrict large amounts of ignitable gases or vapors from accumulating to confine explosive pressure. EYS Sealing Fittings are ideal for sealing horizontal or vertical conduit have a large opening for damming filling. EYD Drain Sealing Fittings are ideal for close turning radius areas for sealing vertical conduit runs. Access cover has drain valve for automatic draining of water accumulation above the seal. Applications. Prevent passage of gases, vapors or flames from one portion of conduit system to another. Restrict any explosion to the sealed off enclosure. Prevent pressure piling within conduit system. Required in Class 1, Division 1 2 locations: Within 18 of enclosures containing apparatus that may cause arcs, sparks or high temperatures. Where 2 or larger conduit enters enclosure, fitting housing terminals, splices or taps. At the boundary where conduit leaves classified location. Where two or more enclosures are connected by 36 or less of conduit. Seal must be located within 18 of either enclosure. Where cables which exceed the permitted rate of gas or vapor transmission are used in Class I, Division 2 areas. Features. Explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof. Smooth, rounded integral bushing in each hub protects conductor insulation. Accurately tapped, NPT tapered threads for tight, rigid joints ground continuity. Raintight construction. Removable nipple in male sealing fitting may be used interchangeably in top or bottom hub. Stard Finishes Properties. Material: Grayloy -iron. IEC Product Solutions There are two major technical stards that govern the use of electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres worldwide: 1- IEC/CENELEC/ATEX (common stard following agreement in 1991 on procedures for developing stards) Inspectable Nickel-Plated Brass Cable Gl EEx e & d 2- NEC CEC (products approved by UL, FM, CSA...). IEC can be considered as the international stard accepted in nearly every country. Since 1996, NEC, Article 505, permits IEC Zone style installations in the US. This offers users a greater variety of installation protection methods. For more detailed information consult NEC Article 505. Similar changes have been adopted by the CEC.
