FEATURES General Characteristics According to the international standard IEC 62271-200 Circuit-breaker: earthing of circuit-breaker is ensured on circuit-breakers, instrument transformers and terminals are readily accessible for inspection and maintenance purposes. the CE-B switchboards are classifi ed for loss of service continuity category as LSC2B with partition class PM (Metallic Partitions). The optional version CE-BA is also foreseen fully withstanding to internal arc fault: Internal arc classifi cation (IAC) the whole isolating stroke by means of a sliding jaw type contact on the copper conductor which is directly connected with the earthing bus-bar. Components: all main components such as CTs, VTs, etc., are positively earthed. Easy inspection and maintenance: through easy access to the equipment in the various compartments by hinged doors or removable bolted panels and through the isolation and withdrawal on truck of circuitbreakers, VT, fuses. Accessibility type: A (restricted to authorized personnel only) F (Front) L (Lateral) R ( Rear) Doors: are connected to the frame by a 25 mmq. cross section fl exible braids. bus-bar: the earthing bus-bar in copper with a normal 350 mmq. cross section runs along the length of the switchboard, thus ensuring maximum safety for personnel Easy installation and connection: the cubicles are factory assembled and tested before being shipped to site, therefore they only need to be secured to the fl oor, coupled together and connected to the external circuits. and equipment. Mechanical characteristics Enclosure: Under normal operation the degree of protection is of IP 31 for metal enclosure and IP2X in the LV instrument compartment. The individual structures are made of die-bended galvanized sheet steel elements of no less than 2 mm thickness. The external coloured panels are realized with carbon steel painted with electrostatic epoxy powder, the standard colour is light grey RAL 7035 smooth (all RAL scale colours or specifi c colours can be realized on request). Standard painting minimum thickness of 60 +/- 10 microns is guaranteed. Structure: all structural parts are solidly fastened together by special screws ensuring a good electrical contact between Access and limited overall dimensions: the overall dimensions are particularly restricted if compared with the high performances achieved for the insulation level, rated busbars current and short-circuit current. Optionally only front access could be required for installation and maintenance. Versatility and fl exibility: any single line diagram can be realized to meet the most varied technical requirements. Special and customized adaptation units allow easy extension of existing switchboards even from supplied by other suppliers or not jet in production. Maximum service reliability: reinforced Personnel safety ensured by: positive earthing on the entire switchboard structure earthing of circuit-breaker frame throughout racking-in or withdrawing operations; metal shutters automatically operated during circuit breaker truck movement; metal shutters automatically operated during VTs truck movement; insulating protections and coatings are available for live parts; easy access to low voltage apparatus and control wirings without any risk of accidental contact with medium voltage parts; set of mechanical and electromechanical interlocks; various signalling and control devices. Standard routine factory tests: Visual inspection and check. Mechanical sequence operations. Cabling check. Electrical sequence operations. Insulation test. the connected parts. Nuts and bolts used to assemble structure and enclosure are galvanized and passivated with minimum thickness of 12 microns. insulation of all live parts minimizes the occurrence of faults between phases or to earth. The various compartments of each cubicle are fully segregated and can, besides, be simply and rapidly inspected. As a matter of fact, equipment such as No fi re risk: metal partitions of compartments and use of self-estinguishing insulating material prevent fi res from spreading. 4 5

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY INTERLOCKS Typical composition: A Instrument compartment All the low voltage equipment can be housed in the instrument compartment, which is usually placed above the circuitbreaker compartment B Circuit-breaker compartment This compartment is designed to accommodate the circuitbreaker, contactor or link complete of its withdrawable truck and all mechanical parts required for the extraction. The device is provided with auxiliary switches for signalling the connected position and disconnected/test position. C Feeder compartment The feeder compartment, accessible from the rear of the cubicle by removing the panel or by opening the eventual door. D Busbar compartment This compartment contains the main bus-bars which are directly supported by the lower fi xed isolating contacts of the circuit-breakers and isolator supports fi xed on the structure. E Wiring duct for interconnections On the cubicle roof front side, a wiring duct is provided to hold the auxiliary connections between the various cubicles and towards the external installation. F Voltage transformer compartment (VT compartment) This compartment can contains the fi xed or draw-out version voltage transformers and the related fuses The draw-out version allows VTs and fuses replacement in safe conditions even with switchbord on voltage. This compartment can be located in incoming or outgoing feeder cubicles as well as in bus tie cubicles. The device could be provided with auxiliary switches for signalling the racking-in and racked-out position. G switch The unit can be equipped with Casagrande Elettrocostruzioni CE-SEZ earthing switch. The switch is activated with an high speed rotating snap, sized to conduct the rated short circuit making current when close to under load. The speed of the snap action closing operation is independent of controls. A manual switch operating lever is provided on the front of the switchbord. The device is provided with auxiliary switches for signalling the open and closed positions. H Gas exhaust duct (Optional) The gas exhaust duct, positioned on the top of the cubicles, collects and ejects outside the safety area the gas resulting by the eventual internal arc fault. switch Mechanical lock to prevent the earthing switch closing if the circuit-breaker is in connected position On the circuit-breaker Mechanical lock to prevent the connection or disconnection of the circuit breaker when closed Mechanical lock to prevent the circuit breaker connection when the earthing switch is in closed position Mechanical lock to prevent the disconnection of auxiliary connector with circuit breaker in connected position Mechanical lock to prevent the manual opening of the shutters when the circuit breaker is removed from the compartment. The shutters can only be operated by the circuit breaker truck. Mechanical protection (IP20) form live parts even with door open is always maintained with circuit breaker in connected and disconnected position. On the VT s compartment (if present) Mechanical lock to prevent opening of the door when VTs are in connected position. Mechanical lock to prevent the manual opening of the shutters when the VTs are removed from the compartment. The shutters can only be operated by the VTs truck. 8 9
