MIL-C-3 Alternative Keyway Positions A plug with a given rotation letter will mate with a receptacle with the same rotation letter. The angle for give connector is the same whether the connector contains either Pin or Socket contacts. Inserts are rotated in conjunction with the master key or keyway. a not The diagrams below show the view from the front face of the connector. You will find that the keyway angle for the plug and the receptacle are exactly the same with the exception that the direction of the rotation is opposite to allow the connectors to mate.
