The commemorative name plate will be shipped attached to the center bezel (p/n 0KS79JX8AD). To order the commemorative name plate perform the following steps: A) Obtain the complete Vehicle Identification Number and information from the existing name plate. B) Call Mopar parts at 810-497-0144 with the information obtained in step A, along with Dealership name, address, contact person and phone number. C) Mopar will ship the part via next day air. REPAIR PROCEDURE: This bulletin provides service information for the removal and installation of the rear wing, five point restraint system, front splitter, name plate and center bezel, side sill air splitter, dive plates and GT2 badging. REAR WING: 1. Open rear hatch. 2. Remove tail lamp closure panel following the procedure in the 1998 Viper Service Manual (Publication Number 81-270-8150) beginning on page 23-42. 3. Remove the two attaching nut mastic patch covers. Save these for reassembly. 4. Remove the 4 attaching nuts and slowly remove rear wing, using caution not to make contact with the rear hatch, (Figure 1).
5. Position new wing into 4 mounting holes.
-3-6. Line up stripes on wing to stripes on the vehicle. Install the 4 attaching nuts and torque to 5.6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). 8. should be made between hatch and wing. Adjust as needed. Figure 1 9. 10. Install the tail lamp closure panel following the procedure in the 1998 Viper Service 11. Close rear hatch. GT-2 vehicles are equipped with two complete and separate belt systems: the conventional 3-point belt and a 5-point belt harness. The five point belt system consists of inboard (tunnel) and outboard (door sill) lap belts, right and left shoulder belts, and a floor mounted anti-submarining center belt. A singe latch mechanism is permanently attached to the inboard lap belt and releases all remaining belts simultaneously. The single latch mechanism is operated by turning a lever clockwise 90 degrees.
23-39-98-4- The inboard and outboard lap belt anchorages are shared with the conventional 3-point belt and are permanently bolted to the vehicle. The remaining three belts (right and left shoulder and floor mounted center belt) terminate with hooks and are snapped onto eyelets. These belts may be removed by unsnapping from the eye bolts. Lap Belts: Inboard (tunnel) side lap belt : shared with 3-point belt webbing termination plate. 1. Move seat to the full forward position and tilt seat back full forward. 2. Remove inboard bolt holding the 5-point and 3-point belt members on the latch side (Figure 2). 3. Remove the 5-point lap belt (Figure 3). Figure 2 Figure 3
-5-23-39-98 4. Install the new 5-point lap belt in the same position as the old one was removed. Be sure to reinsert the rubber spacer (Figure 2) between the new 5-point belt and the existing 3-point belt webbing plate. CAUTION: THE 5-POINT BELT SYSTEM SHOULD ALWAYS BE INBOARD OF THE 3-POINT SYSTEM. THE 5-POINT BELT LATCH MECHANISM RELEASE LEVER MUST POINT DOWNWARD (FIGURE 4). FIGURE 4 5. Torque the bolt holding both belts to 39.5 Nm (350 in.lbs). Outboard (door sill) side: shared with 3-point buckle assembly. 1. Move seat to forward position and tilt seat back forward, 2. Remove inboard bolt holding the buckle side of the 5-point and 3-point belt members, (Figure 5). 3. Remove the buckle side of the 5-point lap belt, (Figure 6). 4. Install the new 5-point lap belt in the same position as the old one was removed. Be sure to insert the rubber spacer between the 5-point belt and the existing 3-point belt buckle. NOTE: TO SERVICE THE 3-POINT BELT SYSTEM. THE RUBBER SPACER (FIGURE 5) WHICH IS SUPPLIED WITH THE STANDARD 3-POINT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY MUST BE DISCARDED. IT IS REPLACED WITH THE SHORTER RUBBER SPACER ( P/N 6030185AA).
23-39-98-6- CAUTION: THE 5-POINT BELT SYSTEM SHOULD ALWAYS BE INBOARD OF THE 3-POINT SYSTEM. THE 5-POINT BELT LATCH MECHANISM RELEASE LEVER MUST POINT DOWNWARD, (FIGURE 4). Figure 5 Figure 6 5. Torque the bolt holding both belts to 39.5 Nm (350 in.lbs).
-7-23-39-98 Shoulder belt and eyebolt mount: 1. Remove the four upper screws to the bulkhead trim panel. 2. Remove the lower quarter trim panel. 3. Unclip the shoulder belt thru the opening provided in the bulkhead and quarter trim. Feed the belt through the seat to remove. Install the new shoulder belt in the same manner as removed. CAUTION: IF THE SHOULDER BELT EYEBOLT MUST BE REPLACED. THE SPACER WASHERS PROVIDED UNDER THE EYEBOLT MUST BE RETAINED FOR REASSEMBLY WITH THE NEW EYELET. (FIGURE 7). THE EYELET IN THE FINAL TORQUED DOWN POSITION MUST BE ORIENTED IN THE FORE AND AFT DIRECTION. Floor mounted center belt: FIGURE 7 1. Unclip the floor mounted center belt to remove. CAUTION: IF THE FLOOR MOUNTED CENTER BELT EYEBOLT MUST BE REPLACED. THE SPACER WASHERS PROVIDED UNDER THE EYEBOLT MUST BE RETAINED FOR REASSEMBLY WITH THE NEW EYELET (FIGURE 8). THE EYELET IN THE FINAL TORQUED DOWN POSITION MUST BE ORIENTED IN THE FORE AND AFT DIRECTION, (FIGURE 9).

23-39-98 Figure 10 CAUTION: FRONT TIP OF THE SPLITTER TO THE LOWER PORTION OF THE BODY (FIGURE 11). Figure 11 DECALS: Torque the mounting nuts to 5.08 NM ( 45 in lbs.). All decals should be installed in the same position as the existing decal. Refer to the 1998 Viper Service Manual (Publication Number 81-270-8150) beginning on positioning measurements.

-11-23-39-98 NAME PLATE AND CENTER BEZEL REPLACEMENT: NOTE: THE NEW NAME PLATE WILL COME PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO THE NEW CENTER BEZEL. 1. Remove the ash receiver. 2. Remove the instrument panel center bezel by pulling up at the six locations shown in Figure 14. Figure 14 3. Line the new center bezel up with the mounting holes, firmly push the clips until they are snapped into place. 4. Push the ash tray into the center bezel. DIVE PLATE: 1. Remove the splash guard located on the bottom of the front fascia. This will allow for access to the four dive plate attaching bolts. 2. Remove the four dive plate attaching bolts and remove from the dive plate (Figure 15). 3. Position the new dive plate using the four attaching bolts. Torque the attaching bolts to 1.12 Nm (10 in. Lbs).
-12- Figure 15 4. 5. Repeat procedure for other side. 1. Drill out pop rivets holding the sill air splitter to the side sill. 3. Paint the air splitter panel black. NOTE: IF INSTALLING AN AIR SPLITTER PANEL ON A NEW SIDE SILL, LINE THE USE THE AIR SPLITTER AS A TEMPLATE TO DRILL THE ATTACHMENT HOLES IN THE SILL. THEN PAINT THE SIDE SILL PANEL WHITE AND THE
