Description, Areas of application and Benefits DAL 359 Diffuser type DAL 359 is a highly inductive swirl diffuser with a round or square front plate and fitted air control blades of ABS. It is suitable for use in both closed and open ceiling systems and allows optimal adaptation of the air distribution system to the prevailing site conditions. The large number of air conducting elements, with optimized airflow and acoustic characteristics, makes this device visually attractive and effective in managing high cooling loads in low ceiling heights. Step-by-step reduction of the discharge free area makes it possible to adjust the device to meet changes in volume flow and discharge temperatures even after installation. The use of blind elements or so-called double clips allows the discharge direction, length or airstream thickness to be varied while maintaining optical appearance. Areas of application - Comfort zone - Clean rooms - Administration areas - Computer rooms - Meeting rooms - Multipurpose hall - Department stores - Systems with constant and variable volume flow Product benefits - Low acoustic power level in high volume flow - Rapid reduction of velocity and temperature differences through high induction - Change of airflow direction and air stream pattern possible - Ability to influence the discharge velocity and thus penetration depth Subject to technical changes. Configuration Diffuser type DAL 359 consists of a round or square front plate and fi tted air control blades of ABS. Diffusers up to size 600 have the front plate attached to the plenum box with a concealed center screw with crossbar. Size 800 has 4 screws around the border. Method of operation rotating discharge one-side horizontal discharge two-side horizontal discharge The blades, designed as wing-shaped profiles, produce a favorable deflection of the vertically streaming air into the horizontal direction of the face plate. Form-fitting bearings and grated components prevent any accidental or unallowable adjustment. Rotating around the bearing center achieves a defined and reproducible reduction by 50% of the discharge free area. A greater penetration depth and flat, horizontal air distribution is achieved with the same discharge volume flow. By using vertically discharging air control elements (double clips), the horizontal airstream can be enlarged. In flush mounted installations, this airstream pattern allows shorter distances between the diffusers, whereby higher air change can be achieved. Use of optional blind clips can further increase the discharge direction. ING, Saint-Hyacinthe Subject to technical changes. Version 14 / 08 / 2012 1.1.1 DAL 359 3

Specification : Room height : H = 3.50 m Air volume flow per swirl diffuser: :. V0 = 600 m 3 /h Max. cooling temp. difference : T0 = -8 Max. air velocity at height of 1.80 m : V max = 0.2 m/s 4 Required : 1. Diffuser size 2. Acoustic power level L WA 3. Pressure loss Δp t 4. Minimum clearance between the diffusers 5. Critical airflow distance (removal of the airflow from the ceiling at cooling) 6. Induction ratio 7. Temperature ratio Solution : 1. The prefered size that follows from the Ranges of application is DN 600 2., 3., 4. From the ceiling stream rating diagram for the size DN 600 diffuser and a volume flow of 600 m 3 /h 1 the following values are evident: A-rated acoustic power level : 32 db ( 22 db considering the absorption of the room) Total pressure loss : 12 Pa 3 An installation clearance of : y = H - 1.80 = (3.50 m - 1.80 m = 1.70 m) 5 2 x 1.55 = 3.10 m 6 7 9 10 5. From the critical airflow distance with cooling an airflow distance of 1.90 m 8 results for diffuser size DN 600, a volume flow of 600 m 3 /h 1 and a temperature difference of 8. 7 i [ ] x + y [m] 6 Txy T x + y [m] 6 6. From the Induction Ratio diagram a lenght of the course of an airstream of (x+y) = 1.55 m + 1.70 m = 3.25 m and i = 28 6 + 4 7. From the Temperature Ratio diagram a temperature ratio of 0.07 10 results for the same lenght of the course of the airstream. 9 * For DN 400, 500, 600 and 800 8 1.1.1 DAL 359 Subject to technical changes.
