ROAD RUNNERS All persons must be approved for competition by the management of BRMS. Any person may be denied the ability to compete in this division based solely upon the opinion of the management of BRMS based upon the skills and abilities of such a person as they relate to an entry level division of competition. The management of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway reserves the right to disallow any person from competing in this division in the interest of fair competition in an entry level division. Note: In addition to the following division specifications, an allowance is made to permit cars meeting Whiz Kidz specifications to compete within the Road Runner division; as long as the car was previously participating in Whiz Kidz competition and is driven by a previously participating Whiz Kid driver. Drivers must meet all other Road Runner driving eligibility requirements. 1) Cars must be 1983 to 2002 American manufactured only, which is limited to General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. Foreign auto companies manufacturing cars in the United States are not considered American manufactured. 2) 1995 and older Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds are limited to a max. 3.4 litre motor. Cars using a max. 3.4 litre motor may not lock the rear-end. Cars using a stock 2.8 litre motor are allowed to lock the rear-end. Other model rear wheel drive cars are restricted to a maximum 3.8 litre motor and may not lock the rearend. All cars must use OBD-1 engine controls (1995 or older wiring harnesses). OBD-II compliant - or any computer-adjusted programmable engine controls - are not allowed. All model cars are subject to alterations of these rules at the discretion of Speedway management in the interest of maintaining competition parity. 3) Cars can be two- or four-door sedans, rear or front wheel drive, with a minimum 101 wheelbase. 4) Cars must be 6-cylinder, fuel-injected motor models, stock for the year, make, and model car that it is being used in. Motors are allowed a maximum.030 overbore resulting from a rebuilding or refreshing of the motor. 5) 1982 to 1992 cars are allowed to use the 700r4 transmission; otherwise, only the 4L60E automatic transmission is allowed (the TH200 is not permitted); transmissions for manufacturers other than GM upon approval from Speedway management. 5a) Rear end gearing is restricted to a min. 3.08 and a max. 3.54. 6) Leaf-spring cars are not allowed. 7) Cars must be of strut front-end suspension. Cars are limited to OEM replacement struts of a value per pair of not more than $150 on the front and $50 per pair on the rear. 8) El Caminos or Rancheros are not allowed. 9) Turbo or supercharged engines are not allowed. 10) Only 2-Wheel-Drive vehicles are allowed. 11) Rear wheel or front wheel drive cars must be single track drive. No locking or locking devices or limited slip devices allowed unless specified. 12) 1 1/2 of positive camber is allowed on the right front wheel only, and may only be obtained by stock adjustments. Elongating the strut mounting holes only is allowed. Camber may be gained in any safe

manner without cutting or moving the strut tower. 1/2 negative wheel camber on the left-front is allowed. 13) All window glass except the stock windshield and rear window must be removed. Glass should be completely removed from the vehicle before arriving at the track, and all fragments of glass must be completely cleaned from the vehicle. 14) Lexan windshield and rear window replacements are allowed. All installations must fit into the original recessed area of the windshield frame and be attached with pop rivets to provide a stock appearance. All installations are subject to the tech inspectors approval. 15) All accessory glass including reflectors, headlights, taillights, side mirrors, etc. must be removed. 16) One exterior driver s side mirror limited to 5 in diameter is allowed. This mirror is not to extend beyond the exterior of the car body. 17) Only a single, stock rear view mirror mounted in the original center location either on the windshield or the roll cage overhead bar is permitted. 18) All unnecessary screws, body chrome, and side moldings must be removed. 19) Stock muffler must remain in place in order to attain minimum noise levels. Dual exhausts are allowed using original headers and the stock mufflers. Stock size diameter header, tubing and muffler pipes must be used. Tail pipes must exit at the rear of the vehicle. Glass pack style mufflers are not allowed. 20) All doors must be welded or chained & bolted securely shut. 21) Stock front and rear bumpers must remain in place, and must be fastened to the vehicle in a manner that will prevent their loss during competition. Bumpers may not be reinforced to add strength and rigidity to them. Aftermarket front bumper covers are permitted. 22) Vehicles with T-top roofs or convertible tops are not permitted. Vehicles with sunroofs must have the glass removed and the remaining roof hole must be securely covered with sheet metal on both the top side and the underside. 23) Trailer hitches are not permitted. 24) Antifreeze/engine coolants or other glycol-based liquids are strictly prohibited. 25) Cars must not have excessive leakage of any fluids, including brake fluid, transmission fluid, fuel, and motor oil. 26) Passenger-side inner-door upholstery only may be removed to accommodate the installation of the required roll cage. Complete stock inner door structure must remain in place. 27) Stock dash may be replaced with fabricated steel or aluminum. Aftermarket dash gauges are permitted and may only be mounted in the front of the dash. 28) Driver-side inner-door panel may be removed to allow installation of bowed horizontal cage bars that may be used between the front and rear upright bars. Suggested roll cage design is shown further in this guidebook. 29) Stock hood and trunk under panels must remain in place. 30) Plastic inner fender wells may be removed. 31) Approved racing seats are required. Racing seats must be bolted into the original position of the stock seat and must be mounted at the original height of the stock seat. Many local race equipment manufacturers offer a seat box that will allow the seat to be safely mounted at the original height. Absolutely NO allowances will be permitted for moving steering columns, foot pedals, seat set-back, etc.

in order to accommodate a racing seat installation. An approved five-way racing safety harness is also required and is subject to installation approval by the Speedway. 32) Quick-release steering couplings are allowed but not required. If used, the plastic steering column housing must remain in place. Only about 2 of the housing may be cut away in order to weld the quickrelease coupling onto the steering shaft. When complete, the plastic housing should abut up to the quick release unit itself. The steering shaft must remain its original length and must be left in the original stock location. Aftermarket steering wheels are not permitted the original, stock steering wheel must be used and adapted to accommodate the quick-release coupling. 33) A supportive seat brace must be installed in back of the seat to provide support to the seat s back. The brace should consist of two horizontal bars attached to a point on the roll cage and running forward to a piece of flatbar resting against the back of the seat. 34) The center of the steering wheel must be padded. 35) Rear bottom seat cushion and rear seat back cushion must be removed. Any holes in the rear seat back shelf must be covered with sheet metal. Aluminum patches are not permitted. 36) Original stock floorboards must remain in place. Any holes existing in the floorboard must be covered with sheet metal. 37) Floor upholstery must be removed. 38) Front springs must be the same height, wire size and have the same number of coils; the same applies to rear springs. 39) Batteries may remain in original, stock location or may be re-located to the right-rear corner of the driver s compartment. Batteries must be boxed, strapped, or otherwise additionally secured to prevent their loss so long as the method does not reinforce any part of the vehicle. 40) Tops of batteries must be covered in a manner that will prevent fill caps from dislodging. 41) A five-way racing safety harness is permitted in place of the stock seat belt system if desired. The mounting of a five-way harness system is subject to speedway approval. 42) A Driver s side racing window net is required. One end must be securely fastened to the roll cage, the other must be quick-releasing using a seat belt type fastener. Window net installations are subject to speedway approval. 43) Racing fuel cells are required and must be located in the center of the trunk compartment. Fuel cells may not be more than 15 gallons in capacity. Any fuel cells must be securely fastened with min. 2 x 1/8 metal straps inside the trunk of the vehicle. No cutting of floor boards or spare tire compartments is allowed when installing a fuel cell. Fuel cells in unibody cars: Cars must have a rear firewall constructed of min. 22-guage steel across the rear seat-back deck in the stock location. The rear trunk structure must remain in tact to provide structural support other than to allow fuel cell installation in the stock spare tire well location. 44) High octane racing fuel is permitted, although not encouraged or recommended at this level of competition. Any standard quality street-pump fuel is fully satisfactory and will save the competitor unnecessary and excessive fuel expense. Except as permitted or required in this guidebook, vehicles must remain completely stock in appearance, configuration, set-up, and running gear including motors, transmissions, and rear ends and must remain stock for the year, make and model of vehicle being used. Any variances from this guideline will result in the disallowance of competition until the variance is corrected, solely at the discretion of speedway management.

WHEELS: 1) Wheels are limited to seven inches (7 ) wide, with an offset not to exceed 1/4. They must be stock, or heavy duty replacement, and D.O.T. approved. All wheels must be of same make and style. 2) 1 lug nuts are permitted. TIRES: 2) The only allowable tire for competition is the 70 series General Altimax. 5) Tire circumferences may not have more than 1 1/2 difference between the left and right side of the vehicle. The tire circumference may vary from front to rear (for example: front tires measure 80 while rear tires measure 84 ) 6) Shaving and/or buffing of tire rubber is allowed in order to prevent excessive and/or premature wear. ROLL CAGES: Every vehicle must meet the minimum roll cage requirements listed herein: 1) A roll cage is mandatory and must consist of four uprights joined together at all four corners of the top., 2) An X must be in place between the rear of the back uprights. Or, a horizontal bar may be put in place to join the two rear uprights at the bottom, and then a diagonal bar may be put in place to join the top and bottom horizontal bars. 3) Four horizontal bars running between the front and rear upright bracings are required on the driver s side, and may be bowed outward. Vertical bar pieces may be welded into place between the four horizontal bars. 4) Bars on the driver s side must be padded with roll bar closed-cell foam padding. 5) A minimum three horizontal bars or an X is required on the passenger side of the vehicle. 6) A horizontal bar between the two front uprights at, just above, or just below dashboard level is required. If necessary, the plastic housing around the steering column shaft may be cut or removed to accommodate this horizontal cross-bar. 7) A support bar may extend between the strut towers, up and across the motor, and may be attached by steel plates that are mounted to the stock mounting bolts & holes. 8) A rearward bar extending from the rear roll cage uprights to the rear of the car, and a single bar extending from the rearward bar to the strut tower, is allowed. 9) A single pipe hoop meeting roll cage specifications is allowed to extend from the front cage uprights, through the firewall, and across the front strut towers. The hoop can be attached to the towers by applying a steel plate to the hoop and securing it through the mounting bolt on top of the tower. No other modifications are permitted. 10) Only one single foot protection bar may be installed from the driver s side front upright roll cage bar to the frame inset directly in front of the cowl. This bar may not exceed two feet in length. 11) Roll cage tubing must be at least 1 3/4 O.D., and a minimum of.090 wall thickness. 12) The roll cage may not reinforce the body or frame or alter the geometry of the vehicle. 13) All pipes and bars must be professionally welded all the way around at every joint. Any vehicle with welds deemed to be unsafe will not be allowed onto the track until the situation is correction. 14) All vehicles may attach the roll cage uprights to a section of max. 2 ½ x 2 ½ or 2 x3.120 steel tubing. The tubing must be visible inside the cockpit and may not extend more than 2 beyond any upright.
