PURE STREET CLASS OVERVIEW Pure Street is designed for naturally aspirated small block 1954 and newer Ford bodied vehicles. Pure Street entries are limited to 302, 2V/3V/4V 4.6L and 5.0C Modular engine types. 5.0L engines are permitted a maximum of 313 cubic inches. 4.6L engines are permitted a maximum of 291 cubic inches. 5.0C are permitted a maximum of 304 cubic inches. Note: This set of class rules is presented to all competitors under the assumption that any modifications not specifically written within these rules shall be deemed illegal, unless the competitor has the expressed written consent from the NMRA Tech Director. A 10lb per CID weight penalty will be assessed to all engine combinations over there base CID. WEIGHT ADDITIONS/DEDUCTIONS 4V entries using a Sullivan manifold must add 25lbs to their original base weight. Entries using a manual transmission must add 75lbs to their original base weight. All entries except for 5.0C using OEM Ford electronic fuel injection may deduct 50lbs from their original base weight. Entries using Ford OEM 4.6 2V cylinder heads may deduct 100lbs from their original base weight. REQUIREMENTS & SPECIFICATIONS ENGINE: 1 ENGINE/BLOCK Engines are limited to 5.0L HO, 5.0L Coyote, 4.6L Modular combinations. Any cast iron Ford type 302W or cast iron or cast aluminum 4.6 based engine block required. Billet blocks prohibited. Block must maintain Ford OEM bore spacing, deck heights, and crankshaft spacing

for engine type used. Deck spacers (extensions) prohibited. O-ringing of engine block is permitted. Lifter bores bushings are permitted. HARMONIC BALANCER Ford OEM or aftermarket harmonic balancer is permitted. ENGINE MOUNTS & LOCATION Engine location may be altered from stock; however no part of engine or heads may contact firewall. Engine plates prohibited. Solid engine mounts permitted. ENGINE COATINGS Visible coatings are permitted where lubricants are present. Visible piston coating above the top ring is permitted. Visible coating of cylinder head runners, combustions chambers, and/or intake manifold runners/plenums prohibited. Visible coating of any external surface of cylinder head or intake manifold prohibited, including, but not limited to runners and/or plenums. CRANKSHAFT Stock or aftermarket cast iron or steel crankshaft required. Composite and/or multi-piece crankshafts prohibited. Stock 3.0-inch stroke, +/-.010-inch, mandatory for 302W applications. Stock 3.543-inch stroke, +/-.010-inch, mandatory for 4.6L 2V/3V/4V applications. Stock 3.653- inch stroke +/-.010-inch, mandatory for 5.0C applications. Minimum rod bearing shaft diameter is 2.000-inch. Modifications to crankshaft permitted. CONNECTING RODS Stock or aftermarket steel connecting rods required. Composite connecting rods prohibited. 302W connecting rods must be 5.09-inch, +/-.025-inch, center-to-center length. 4.6L & 5.0C connecting rods must be 5.933-inch, +/-.025, center-to-center length. Connecting rods may be of any design. Connecting rods may be free floating or press fit. PISTONS, PINS & RINGS Stock or aftermarket piston permitted. Pistons for 5.0L, 4.6 3-valve & 4-valve, & 5.0C must be flat top or dish design. Pistons for 4.6L 2-valve head combinations may be dome-type design. The use of 3 rings required. Gas porting is permitted. Wrist pins for 302W based applications must be a minimum of.912-inch diameter. Wrist pins for 4.6L & 5.0C applications must be a minimum of.866-inch diameter. Valve reliefs are optional. TIMING CHAIN Ford OEM or aftermarket stock replacement timing chain/chains are required on all engine combinations.

CAMSHAFT Each engine combination must compete with the following camshaft specs: 5.0L HO: Hydraulic roller camshaft with any duration and lobe separation is permitted. Maximum valve lift at the retainer is.500. 5.0L COYOTE: Hydraulic roller camshaft with any duration and lobe separation is permitted. Maximum valve lift at the retainer is.480. 4.6L 2V: Hydraulic roller camshaft with any duration and lobe separation is permitted. Maximum valve lift at the retainer is.550. 4.6L 3V: Hydraulic roller camshaft with any duration and lobe separation is permitted. Maximum valve lift at the retainer is.480. 4.6L 4V: Hydraulic roller camshaft with any duration and lobe separation is permitted. Maximum valve lift at the retainer is.480. Valve lift will be checked at retainer with rocker (& push rod) in as run condition using a blocked up OEM Ford hydraulic roller lifter set at zero lash. Lobe lift will be measured at the hydraulic roller lifter. LIFTERS/LASH ADJUSTERS Any aftermarket hydraulic roller lifter/lash adjuster permitted. Lifer/lash adjuster must maintain the Ford OEM original diameter. PUSHRODS Any aftermarket steel pushrods are permitted. ROCKER ARMS Any aftermarket rocker arms are permitted. VALVE SPRINGS & RETAINERS/LOCKS Any valve springs and retainers/locks are permitted. CYLINDER HEADS Only commercially available cast aluminum or cast iron, cylinder heads permitted. Billet, oneoff, custom and/or fabricated heads prohibited. Cylinder head must be single spark plug per cylinder design. Spark plugs must retain its Ford OEM location. Cylinder heads must maintain Ford OEM number of head bolts and their location. Porting is permitted. Epoxy/welding or any other fabrication work is prohibited. The use of pushrod sleeves is prohibited. Angle milling of cylinder heads is permitted. All cylinder heads must maintain Ford OEM valve angle of +/- 2

degrees. The use of intake port plates is prohibited. Exhaust port plates are permitted with a.500 inch maximum thickness. Maximum valve sizes for 302W heads are 2.025-inch Intake/1.605-inch Exhaust. Maximum valve sizes for 4.6L two valve heads are 1.850-inch Intake/1.452-inch Exhaust. Maximum valve sizes for 4.6L three-valve heads are 1.368-inch intake and 1.514-inch exhaust. Maximum valve sizes for 4.6L four valve heads are 1.487-inch Intake/1.211-inch Exhaust. Maximum valve sizes for 5.0C heads are 1.469-inch Intake/1.252-inch Exhaust. Valve stem size in guide area must be 11/32-inch for 302W heads, Valve stem size in guide area must be 0.274-inch for 4.6L heads, and Valve stem size in guide area must be 0.511-inch for 5.0C heads. Undercut stems permitted. Aftermarket steel valve permitted, titanium/exotic valves prohibited. Bronze lined or replacement guides permitted. Any valve job is permitted. The following cylinder heads are not restricted on combustion chamber volume: Ford OEM cast iron 289, 302, 351, FRPP GT-40, & GT-40P heads. Minimum combustion chamber volume for all other 302W heads is 58.0 cc s. Minimum combustion chamber volume for 5.0C heads is 52.0 cc s. Minimum combustion chamber volume for 2V/3V/4V 4.6L heads is 42.0 cc s. Approved Cylinder Head List: Below is the approved cylinder head list for this category. If a cylinder head is not on this list, it is prohibited. INTAKE MANIFOLD Only NMRA accepted, commercially available, mass-produced intake manifolds permitted. Any height spacer permitted between EFI upper and lower intakes only. All runners must be completely separated from each other runner. Spacer or gasket must not create a 'plenum', or any other means for air to pass between runners. Carb spacers permitted. Maximum 1.200-inch total thickness, including sandwiched gaskets. Maximum of one gasket (max. thickness 0.125- inch) between any mating surfaces. 4.6L 4V & 3V combinations may remove secondary runner controls. Only 4.6L 2V engines may use aftermarket as-cast throttle-body to intake manifold plenums. Porting is permitted for EFI upper & lower intake manifolds. Upper EFI manifold may be ported, but may not be cut, modified or welded. Runners may not be shortened. Carbureted intakes may be ported only 1 into runners (from intake mounting face); otherwise, porting/machining is prohibited on carbureted intakes. Epoxy, welding or any other fabrication work is prohibited. Carbureted intake manifolds are permitted to be converted over to electronic fuel injection. The only welding permitted is for the fuel injector bungs and fuel rail tabs and must be approved by the NMRA Tech Director. OILING SYSTEM Ford OEM factory wet sump oil system is required for all entries. All external oil pumps, vacuum pumps and/or crankcase ventilation systems are prohibited. Any oil pan is permitted. All entries are permitted the use of windage trays, crank scrapers, etc. COOLING SYSTEM Entire cooling system must be contained within the engine compartment. Ford OEM production-style or aftermarket radiator is required and must be mounted in stock location. Stock core support is required. Any aftermarket water pumps (belt drive or electric drive) are permitted. Any cooling fans are permitted. ACCESORY BELT DRIVE SYSTEM Alternator is not required. EXHAUST SYSTEM All entries are permitted to use tubular headers with a maximum outside diameter primary tube size of 1.75 inches. Complete exhaust system with two mufflers is required. Maximum exhaust tubing diameter is 3 inches and must exit within 12 inches of the rear axle centerline.

FUEL SYSTEM Electric or mechanical fuel pumps permitted. Pressure regulators and any line size permitted. All fuel lines must originate and return to a single, non-segmented, fuel cell or OEM fuel tank. Fuel pump must shut off with a master electrical switch. Any method of artificially heating or cooling fuel prohibited (cool cans, ice, wet rags, Freon, etc.). A valve for removal of fuel (gasoline) during technical inspections is mandatory. Valve must be installed between carburetor/injection and regulator, and should be installed in such a manner that allows a cup to be placed to catch fuel removed from the line. Exit of valve should be capped or plugged in addition to being closed for added safety. Aftermarket/fabricated fuel tank or cell permitted and must be located in trunk area. If tank or fuel filler is inside trunk, a bulkhead of minimum.032 aluminum or.024 steel must be used between trunk and driver compartment, and tank must be vented to outside of car. When used, fuel cells must have a metal box protecting the part of the fuel cell that is outside the trunk floor. Non-metallic fuel cells or tanks must be grounded to frame. EFI SYSTEM AFTERMARKET EFI: 5.0C Engines are required to use Copperhead engine control computer system. Any aftermarket EFI system permitted on 5.0L, & 4.6L Engines. OEM FORD: OEM Ford EEC-IV or EEC-V engine control computer system required. NMRA accepted plug-in chips and EEC computer add-ons permitted. Ford EEC-IV or Ford EEC-V Speed density permitted for all combinations. OEM engine control computer must be functional. Commercially available, complete, mass produced mass air sensors required on all combinations (sample tube and elements required), including speed density equipped. Mass air sensor is not required to function. Mass air sensor must be standard draw through design and have a maximum size of 80mm or 3.150 inches. Any size/type fuel injector permitted. Maximum of 8 fuel injectors located in stock location. Approved Computer Add-On List Below is the approved computer add-on list for this category. All engine combinations may use an OEM style, aftermarket, commercially available, bolt-on throttle body. EGR spacer is not required. Carburetor restricted to a maximum throttle bore size of 1.690 inches, maximum venturi size is 1.400 inches. Standard-style boosters are required (no aerosol, annular, etc). Carburetor is not permitted on 5.0C Engines. AIR FILTER/CLEANER Any aftermarket street legal automotive type air filter/cleaner is permitted. All incoming air must pass through an air filter. THROTTLE LINKAGE Throttle control must be operated by the driver s foot. FUEL Entries will be subjected to random checks to verify legality of fuel being used. Failure to pass fuel check will result in disallowance of a run during qualifying or being disqualified during eliminations. All gear changes must result directly from the driver s foot. Pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, etc. shifters are prohibited. Floor-shift conversion kits are permitted. REAR END Any automotive type rear end is permitted.

BRAKES, STERRING & SUSPENSION: 3 BRAKES Front and rear hydraulic brakes are required. Automated brakes are prohibited. The application and release of the brakes must be a function of the driver. Dual reservoir master cylinder is required. Line-lock is permitted only on the front wheels using one line-lock button and solenoid. Any other electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc. switch in braking system is prohibited. STEERING Any Ford OEM automotive production type steering system permitted. SHOCKS/STRUTS Stock replacement type shocks in the rear and struts in the front are required. Coil-over struts are permitted. Shock/strut must mount in stock location. Shocks/struts must be stand-alone and cannot be adjustable during a run. Rear coil over shocks are prohibited. Electronic programmable shocks/struts are prohibited. Spindle mount type struts are prohibited. FRONT SUSPENSION Stock, aftermarket or tubular type K-member permitted. K-member must mount in its original location. K-member may be notched for oil pan clearance. Factory strut/shock towers are required. Bolt-on type caster/camber plates are permitted. Factory or aftermarket controls arms are permitted. REAR SUSPENSION Stock-type rear suspension is required for year of vehicle being used. Ladder bar suspension systems are prohibited. Aftermarket direct bolt-in suspension components are permitted. Ford OEM 3 and 4-link style rear suspension systems must retain factory angles and attachment points located on the body. Factory attachment points on the rear axle are allowed to be relocated. Aftermarket sway bars are permitted. WHEELIE BARS The use of wheelie bars is prohibited. FRAME: 4 FRAME Front and rear frame rails must remain unaltered and in the stock locations. Sub frame connectors are permitted.

WHEELBASE Entries must retain stock wheelbase dimensions of + or 1 inch. Maximum wheelbase variation from left to right is 1 inch. GROUND CLEARANCE A minimum of 4 inches from the front of the vehicle to 12 inches behind front spindle centerline is mandatory. A minimum of 3 inches for the rest of the vehicle is mandatory (except for oil pan and exhaust headers). TIRES & WHEELS: 5 TIRES DOT or bias-ply racing slicks are permitted. Actual measured tread of tire is limited to 10.75 inches by 26.5 inches tall. Tire width will be measured by a go-no go gauge after conclusion of run at scale area. Tire tread may not extend outside fenders. Tire shaving is prohibited. WHEELS Aftermarket racing wheels permitted. Spindle mount type front wheels are prohibited. INTERIOR: 6 UPHOLSTERY Must have full factory type upholstery, including carpet, door panels, headliner, and factory dash. Driver s and passenger s seats are required and mounted in the stock location. Aftermarket front seats are permitted and must be upholstered. Rear seat, heater and A/C controls may be removed. STEERING COLUMN/WHEEL OEM or stock type steering column required. Steering column must have a factory appearance. Removable steering wheel is permitted. PEDALS & PEDAL LOCATION Stock type pedals and linkage in the factory location are required. BODY: 7 BODY Body must retain original appearances and profiles for year, make and model being used. OEM body shell must be intact. Light weight body panels are restricted to hood, bumpers and decklid/truck-lid or hatch. Hood can be a lift off style and deck-lid/trunk-lid or hatch must be hinged.

Lift off style deck-lid/trunk-lid or hatch is prohibited. Alterations or aerodynamic modifications are prohibited. HOOD SCOOPS The use of aftermarket forward facing hood scoops is prohibited. Ford OEM hood scoops are permitted and must be sealed off from fresh air. The use of cowl induction style hoods are permitted on any vehicle with a maximum height of 6 inches. Cowl height will be checked from the tallest point of the hood to the fender line. All entries are only permitted to use an air pan that allows for fresh air to be sourced from the rear of the cowl hood. No other fresh air source is permitted. COWL AREA Complete Ford OEM cowl is required. GRILLE Grille must be full production for make, model and year being claimed. Covering in front of or behind the grille is prohibited. BUMPERS No body components, bumper add-ons, sill plates, chin spoilers, body kits, license plate frames, etc. are permitted to be added to the nose of the vehicle. Outlaw style bumpers are prohibited. FIREWALL Stock, unaltered firewall is required. FENDER SPLASH PANS Full, factory Ford OEM or aftermarket inner fenders are required. WINDSHIELD & WINDOWS All Ford OEM glass is required. Optic Armor stock replacement windshield is permitted. FLOOR The entire floor, including transmission tunnel, and trunk floor must be unaltered and in the stock location. Manual transmission vehicles are only permitted to modify the transmission for shifter clearance.

WHEEL WELLS Factory wheel wells/tubs are required. Widening/sectioning for tire fitment is permitted and must maintain a Ford OEM appearance. Aftermarket style mini-tubs are prohibited. WING/SPOILERS Rear wing/spoiler is permitted with a maximum length of 26 inches. Rear wing/spoiler will be measure from the transition point of the deck-lid/trunk-lid to the rear most portion of the wing/spoiler. Any adjustments to the wing/spoiler during a run are prohibited. STREET EQUIPMENT Headlights and taillights/brake lights are required. APPEARANCE All cars in competition must be painted or wrapped. Advertising graphics are permitted on the body. In order to be eligible for the NMRA official contingency program, all contingency sponsors decals must be easily visible and located on the outside of the vehicle. Failure to do so can result in the driver forfeiting all claimed contingencies for that particular event. The NMRA does require all entries to run the following decals: 1. NMRA Windshield Banner: Decal needs to be located on the top of the windshield or just above the windshield located on the body. 2. NMRA Drag Racing Series: Decals (2) must be located on each side of vehicle. Either on the side windows or decals can be located on the body right beside the side windows. 3. Class Sponsor: Decal must be located on the passenger s side lower portion of the windshield. 4. VP Racing Fuels: Official Fuel decals (2) required. Must be located on each side of vehicle. (In a contingency decal manner) 5. Aerospace Winners Circle: Decals (2) must be prominently displayed on each side of vehicle. Failure to do so can result in the winning driver forfeiting his/hers Winner s Trophy & Payout. 6. Class & Competition Numbers: Numbers must be easily visible/legible and located on the front, back, and both side windows ELECTRICAL: 8 BATTERIES/CHARGING SYSTEM Battery may be relocated and must be an automotive type. Charging system must be functional and use OEM 6-rib belt that is crank driven.

IGNITION Any battery operated ignition system is permitted. Distributor drive system must be stock Ford OEM as produced from the factory. Modular engines are permitted to use cam-drive distributors. MASTER CUTOFF A master cutoff switch is mandatory on all vehicles with a battery located in the trunk. STARTER Aftermarket starters, in stock location permitted. SUPPORT GROUPS: 9 COMPUTER/DATA RECORDERS Only NMRA approved external data recorders, data loggers, are permitted. Any wide-band 02 device must be capable of only logging air/fuel ratio, and may not be run in closed loop with EFI or ignition system. Only a single 02 sensor is permitted to be installed in each header collector. Playback tachometers permitted including those that record driveshaft RPM. Laptops prohibited in vehicle during competition. DRIVER: 10 DRIVER The driver when in the vehicle, from the ready line until the vehicle is safely stopped on the return road, is required to have all safety restraint systems (including the helmet) on and be securely fastened in the vehicle at all times

CRENDENTIALS A Valid state or government issued driver s license beyond a learner/s permit level is mandatory for cars running 10.00 or slower. A valid NHRA competition license is mandatory for cars running 9.99 or quicker, at a NHRA Member Track. A valid NHRA or an IHRA competition license is mandatory at an IHRA Member Track. Note: It is ultimately the competitor s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the NMRA class requirements as well as all NHRA safety requirements. The competitor agrees they bear the ultimate responsibility when it comes to safety and how it complies with the NMRA and NHRA rule books. The competitor also agrees that no one else other than the competitor is in the best position to know about how their particular race car has been constructed and how to safely operate it.
