Type 355-1 Pneumatic Control Valve Type 355 Globe Valve Application Dump valve designed for use in high-pressure on/off applications in upstream oil and gas production. Valve size NPS 1 to 3 Pressure rating Class 600 to 1500 Class 1700 (intermediate rating, standard class) Temperatures 50 to +300 F ( 46 to +149 C) Type 355 Globe valve with Type 3571 Pneumatic Actuator, 7 to 116 in² effective diaphragm areas Valve body manufactured of A35 LCC Valve plug made of Stellite 6 (R30006) Tungsten carbide (only for compact version) Features Compact design the size of the valve has been optimized for installation where space requirements are tight Easy maintenance a threaded bonnet/body connection offers easier access to the trim without the need for assorted tools or removal of the valve body from the pipeline Travel limit adjustment by a threaded coupling Durable plug trim Standard trim material is Stellite 6 (R30006) NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 compliance for use with sour gases and other corrosive media Environmentally friendly packing retaining a consistent seal due to the PTFE V-rings and the supporting spring. Principle of operation The process medium flows through the valve in the direction indicated by the arrow. The position of the valve plug determines the cross-sectional area between the seat and plug. Fail-safe positions Depending on how the compression springs are arranged in the actuator the control valve has two different fail-safe positions which become effective upon supply air failure: Actuator stem extends (fail-close, air to open): The actuator springs close the valve when the supply air fails. Actuator stem retracts (fail-open, air to close): The actuator springs open the valve when the supply air fails.
